I think what made it so impressive apart from making history is that Smith still had time to give Van Gerwen a fist pump after Van Gerwen missed his double 12.and then stepped up and hit his outshot.

MVG did fizzle out in the second half of the match but Smith has messed up so many major finals that he deserves a lot of credit for keeping his composure after losing that penultimate set. Don't think this will be the last one he wins

So the story I have about changing locations during the match in big finals.

In 2016 I was at Wembley watching Hull FC vs Warrington in the cup final. With 15 minutes to go we were getting beat 10-0 there was some empty seats a few rows in front of were I was sat, so I got up and went and sat in those seats and we ended up winning 12-10.

But I got that idea from a mate of mine. I think it was 2001, FA cup final between Liverpool and Arsenal. My mate is a Liverpool fan and we were watching that game. Arsenal battered Liverpool for about 80 minutes but were only 1-0 up when they should have been about 7 or 8 nil up. My mate left his seat and stood in the corner of the room for the last 10 minutes and Owen came off the bench to score 2 and win it for Liverpool.

So when Smith went 3-2 down tonight, I thought it was time to change location and once again it worked.
