Precisely, not to mention the fact that Sam Mitchell is essentially two completely different characters who merely happen to share the same name.

Kim Medcalf’s Sam was quite a departure from the original but once a character’s been completely re-established and redefined, the producers should honour that decision, because what’s really unrealistic is her coming back to the square in a few years’ time as the brassiest tart you’ve ever seen, as if the four-year-long interlude had never taken place.

I can’t imagine Sam will be making a reappearance to our screens again, in either semblance. I’d be all for it if Medcalf was still in the role but they really, really threw her entire characterization up in limbo by bringing back Westbrook.
