It all kind of blends into one.

It doesn't need a revamp or makeover that is whats killing it. It just needs to be Big Brother and kept simply to people living in a house watched 24/7 without producers interfering.

They forget that the concept of BB is still fascinating and makes it far superior to other reality shows but they have downgraded it intentionally to fit in with shows like towie ect.

This year was supposed to be about technology, its embaressing that the technology for the show was better back in 2000 when 8 million people watched Nasty Nick being outed live online before it crashed. Now the website cant even host a live stream, crashes from simple video clips and the new technology aka the app is basic as a game boy and only available to a small percentage of the audience.

I think everyones aware that BB on channel 5 is like a cheap sequel now and after this year they I cant see how they could shake that title.
The days of getting 8m are long gone but still think if done right bb can get a solid 2m nightly cbb 3m

1.24m incl +1 according to Bothersbar (maybe slightly higher because they do it for the entire slot rather than tapechecked).

Anyway, BBspy is the one to look out for with officials as they have +1 in most whereas other sources don't (I emailed them the +1 ratings as a poster from DS who is reliable gave them to me), so I am working with BBspy quite closely regarding ratings:

http://www.bbspy.co.uk/bb15/ratings/official

Current series average if 1.58m. Hope it doesn't drop under 1.55m, if it stays above that it will be rounded up to 1.6m and therefore average the same as BB12 and BB13; so would be nothing to worry about.

Its actually 1.28

1.19 (90k +1)

Channel 4 managed 936k in the same slot but did beat Channel 5 the rest of the day by a high margin.

That's exactly the revamp it needs, is what everyone means! BACK TO BASICS!

IT'S TIME FOR MY WEEKLY RATINGS INTEREST POST!!

LAST WEEKS OFFICIAL CHANNEL 5 RATINGS AS FOLLOWS: (15 SLOTS)

1 CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION 1.98m
2 BENEFITS BRITAIN: LIFE ON THE DOLE 1.81m
3 BIG BROTHER 1.66m
4 BIG BROTHER 1.57m
5 BIG BROTHER 1.49m
6 BIG BROTHER 1.45m

7 THE DOG RESCUERS 1.40m
8 BIG BROTHER 1.39m
9 AUTOPSY: MICHAEL HUTCHENCE... 1.38m
10 BIG BROTHER 1.34m
11 BIG BROTHER 1.14m
12 BIG BROTHER'S BIT ON THE SIDE 0.85m

13 ON THE YORKSHIRE BUSES 0.83m
14 POLICE INTERCEPTORS 0.80m
15 NEIGHBOURS 0.80m

Big Brother and Big Brother's Bit On The Side achieved ranks in 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 8th, 10th, 11th and 12th.

CSI hit near 2 million, however this is justified for it's high rating, as it has been, and continues to be Channel 5's most watched show.. regardless of whether Big Brother has aired before or after it, or at any time.

Benefits Britain has also been a success story with Channel 5. Understandable as it follows the same storyline in essence to that of Channel 4's Benefits Street, which easily racked up 5 million viewers each broadcast.

Therefore Big Brother retaining 3rd spot and lower, is commendable.

Autopsy and The Dog Rescuers is clearly popular. And just because the figures sometimes beat BB to a spot, is not to say BB is under performing. This of course depends on shares! Nonetheless.. despite a suggested 'unpopular' series, it's holding up well.

Channel 4 did pip Channel 5 ratings wise.. but still.. BB is often able to beat Channel 4 programming once aired.. so again, the brotherly competition and rivalry continues. Note the picture below, Channel 4 was only marginally better in shares than Channel 5 for the week.

The image below is also worth mentioning. Once again.. this year, and the previous week, we have seen a dramatic decrease in viewing live.. which could suggest the reasons for Friday, Saturday and Sunday overnight ratings performing underpar from what we consider good.

Once again, if you guys liked this please comment, and I'll continue to update you all on ratings after each week! If you want to find anything out rating wise, just ask, I'm sure I, or someone else could find the answer!!

You're welcome, glad it helps, as often, determining ratings can be so confusing with all the different factors.

I ALSO FORGOT TO MENTION...

It's worth taking a look at the officials for each week.

WEEK 1 - 1.65M O
WEEK 2 - 1.61M -
WEEK 3 - 1.59M -
WEEK 4 - 1.56M -
WEEK 5 - 1.56M O
WEEK 6 - 1.57M +
WEEK 7 - 1.58M +
WEEK 8 - 1.58M +

The fact that this series of Big Brother, despite dramatic differences in overnight viewing, in official figures is EXTREMELY stable!

And.. unexpectedly.. Since week 5, ratings are naturally improving.. although only slightly, this is still very good and suggestive that the show is retaining some form of audience lost in Weeks 3-5.

Armageddon certainly added a small push of viewers, and hopefully.. with the advertisement of CBB, and perhaps highlight shows and the final.. Week 9 (the current week) and week 10 will see the official figures for the last 2 weeks increase to 1.60M

It appears that with official viewing figures.. the show begins well.. then has a mid series drop.. followed by a large increase and another very marginal drop at the end. As this can be seen in BB14 too.

In overnight figures, the current series is ranked at 1.22M with a 6.5% share. The previous series, BB14.. had 1.48M overnight viewers and an 8% share.

Again.. these ratings have been very stable too.. and despite a larger decrease in viewing figures since week 1, it states that many more are still willing to catch up on demand services and repeats, evident by the improving official figures.

All in all. Channel 5 ratings are more consistent. The below figures are in officials.

CHANNEL 4:
BIG BROTHER 1 - 4.5M O
BIG BROTHER 2 - 4.5M O
BIG BROTHER 3 - 5.8M + 700K
BIG BROTHER 4 - 4.6M - 1.2M
BIG BROTHER 5 - 5.1M + 500K
BIG BROTHER 6 - 4.6M - 500K
BIG BROTHER 7 - 4.7M + 100K
BIG BROTHER 8 - 3.9M - 800K
BIG BROTHER 9 - 3.6M - 300K
BIG BROTHER 10 - 2.5M - 1.1M
BIG BROTHER 11 - 3.0M + 500K

AVERAGE CHANNEL BIG BROTHER DIFFERENCE - 633,000 VIEWERS

CHANNEL 5:
BIG BROTHER 12 - 1.6M O
BIG BROTHER 13 - 1.6M O
BIG BROTHER 14 - 1.9M + 300K
BIG BROTHER 15 - 1.58M (CURRENT) - 300K

AVERAGE CHANNEL BIG BROTHER DIFFERENCE - 300,000 VIEWERS

It's fair to say that Big Brother has been on Channel 5 for a shorter amount of time.. but nonetheless if you consider any four series of Big Brother from Channel 4 and their statistics, it's clear that Channel 5 is much more stable in terms of viewership.. and having hit 1.6M nearly 3 times.. it's clearly that that is the audience's main amount.. with many opting to view in and out of each day when wanted.. so I believe around 1.7-1.8M are still clearly very much interested in the show.. in terms of cancellation.. imagine Channel 5 completely removing that figure.. I'll be honest.. the only reason I watch other C5 shows is due to the fact they're on before or after or are advertised around Big Brother.. it wasn't until 2011 that where I live couldn't even receive the channel.. and now.. so many people I know still continue to watch it!

Hopefully this post will provide stability to anyones issue's with ratings.. I'm sure producers and the big bosses are happy that the viewing figures are not too dramatic. Again.. I should also point out they take into consideration all 3 series of the show over the year.. including the 2 CBBs to decide whether a renewal is given a green light or not. They certainly would NEVER consider cancelling the civilian show, opting only to show CBB.. and this has been stated by many of those in charge of programming commission over the 3 years it's been on Channel 5. Again.. hopefully this is reassuring to any cynics out there..!

Now.. seeing as I've noted about all 3 series amounting to average viewing figures.. let's take a look at the combined average for both BB and CBB together. (Note, for Channel 4 I have excluded spin off's such as Teen Big Brother and Big Brother Panto as these are not as relatable to the series on Channel 5. Therefore this would provide unfair figures.

CHANNEL 4 (average + based on the year - Jan - Dec)
BB1 = 4.5M O
BB2 + CBB1 = 4.8M + 300K
BB3 + CBB2 = 5.1M + 300K
BB4 = 4.6M - 500K
BB5 = 5.1M + 500K
CBB3 + BB6 = 4.45M - 650K
CBB4 + BB7 = 4.8M + 350K
CBB5 + BB8 = 4.25M - 550K
BB9 = 3.6M - 650K
CBB6 + BB10 = 2.9M - 700K
CBB7 + BB11 + UBB = 3.25M + 350K

CHANNEL 5 (same rules apply)
CBB8 + BB12 = 2.2M O
CBB9 + BB13 + CBB10 = 2.1M - 100K
CBB11 + BB14 + CBB12 = 2.3M + 200K
CBB13 + BB15 = 2.35M + 50K

NOW HOPEFULLY THIS MAKES SOME SENSE TO YOU LOT.. I LOOK AT IT AND IT MAKES ME WEAK! TOO MANY NUMBERS! I spent a lot of time trying to justify the show's ratings.. so hopefully this'll help those who are doubtful of the show's existence.

So.. it's clear to see that Summer CBB rectifies the lower viewing figures of regular BB.. as on Channel 5.. the previous 5 series have enabled overall viewing figures of Big Brother each year to increase. And with the coming of Summer CBB right around the corner, the present 2.35M rating can only increase! Therefore to C5 bosses and the show's producers this must account for something very good, particualrly when considered that it is only 550K away from Channel 4's lowest rated year.. 5 years ago!

Oh god the old "go back to basics" quote. What even is that exactly now? People have been crying out for it to go back to basics since the end of BB3, they did that and we got BB4.

there needs to be a change in perception of the show which would take a cooling off period and with 3 series a year its just not possible.

The show needs to go away for about 3/5 years imo only then can it come back as Big Brother gimmick free.

If only Channel 5 had waited, remember how eager we were when we learned it was coming back so soon? Doesn't seem like that long ago we were waiting for the first Channel 5 ad to air. If it had taken a 4 year hiatus That break would have been over by now and BB would be relaunching to what I would imagine a very large audience.

BB1 = 4.5M O
BB2 + CBB1 = 4.8M + 300K
BB3 + CBB2 = 5.1M + 300K
BB4 = 4.6M - 500K
BB5 = 5.1M + 500K
CBB3 + BB6 = 4.45M - 650K
CBB4 + BB7 = 4.8M + 350K
CBB5 + BB8 = 4.25M - 550K
BB9 = 3.6M - 650K

This graph actually confirms the show is still in great health we just watch TV differently now

The annual figures alone stand for a lot!

Year 1 on Channel 5 - 2.2m
Year 2 on Channel 5 - 2.1m
Year 3 on Channel 5 - 2.3m
Current year on Channel 5 - 2.35

(I imagine that's at least 2.4m to 2.45 with Summer CBB included. Bodes well for the future!)

No BB ratings yet, but the Utopia rating has been released. Ch5 must be thrilled that Ch4 is doing atrociously. Surely, BB is safe with Ch5 when you see how badly 10pm does on Ch4.

Utopia for 347k incl +1 and a 2.1% share. It's doing so badly!!

Without +1 Utopia was 273k.

Anyway, last night was at 1.09m excl +1, so around 1.15-1.18m I would predict with +1, shame it has dropped again. But I do see a small lift across the week leading to the double.

People may think BB is in trouble, but when you look at how badly 10pm on Ch4 does, there really is nothing to worry about.

In fact, just like BB14 it has grown from around the same point than it did last year. Officials week by week:

Week 1- 1.65m (three +1 missing)
Week 2- 1.54m (three +1 ratings missing)
Week 3- 1.55m (one +1 rating missing)
Week 4- 1.46m (one +1 rating missing). This was the lowest week because of clashes.
Week 5- 1.57m (less World Cup matches to clash with)
Week 6- 1.62m (the week where World cup ended)
Week 7- 1.64m

Current running average (with a total of 8 +1 ratings missing) is 1.58m. It may increase a tiny bit as Week 8 officials should be in the 1.60m range too, so could climb to 1.59m. With all the +1, it is comfortably at 1.60m+ so at this point, we can safely say that it shouldn't average 1.54m or below overall. If its at 1.55m+ then it would be rounded up to 1.6m and be the same rated as BB12 and BB13. Hence no reason to panic surely?

So despite people panicking, looking at the officials, in general (even though the early weeks have some +1 missing), the show has increased.

Meh. The officals have been adding like 400k recently haven't they? Would be nice to see it higher but at least it's consistent unlike utopia. Shame for it really. I've never seen it but I imagine it deserves more than that..
What do we think the final will get?

This year they have added around 350k.

And I would say 1.6m for the final. 1.9m officially?
