I think it's better to go for a walk or use the bicycle. Much cheaper as well.

Under my scheme, you wouldn't pay a penny if you went everyday.

That's a pretty good idea!

Not a bad idea. Definitely viable. Needs to accommodate workers though, and take into account travel costs for others. Some local health authorities offer free gym memberships for people on low incomes for 6 month periods through Doctor referrals, my town don't offer it (quelle surprise ) but it's a really good thing and worth people looking into.

I love the gym, used to go regularly (way back in the mists of time) and have a swim as well. Love swimming.

I used to love going with my bicycle. I need to buy another one. My old one got stolen.

I like running on the treadmill, I can sort of lose myself in it and easily go half an hour - an hour once my fitness levels are up. I don't feel that running outside is the same thing at all, I'd find that embarrassing and difficult to do because you may have to change your pace due to terrain or external factors. With the treadmill it's repetition and there are no surprises.

When I went home at the weekend I planned on seeing my older brother and confronting my parents about it. In the end I was having such a nice time at home with my parents that I didn't want to upset the balance. Really going to need to man up and do it when I move back home, it's gone on long enough :/

yeah, same here. I love the treadmill but going for a jog through the town is a no go for me, feel like a tit

God yes, I'd never be seen out jogging. Perish the thought. Give me a modern gym with the latest equipment and music pumping any day. Makes exercise a pleasurable experience.

Yes exactly that. I mean it's not like that's the reason I'm overweight, I could just exercise more to cancel it out, but I feel if I was always in charge of what I eat (as I am when I'm away at uni) then my weight is entirely manageable. Not the case at home.

I've not been on a treadmill in years. The last time I went on one I fell off and bruised my wrist and knee badly.
