i hate people so much.

basically i was sitting there in maths when i hear my sister's boyfriend talking to his friends about me. now i turned round to see what they were saying when my sister's boyf (i'll call him J) goes 'HI CARA' all loud and *****-like. Then his friend, M, goes 'oh yeah cara's too peng' clearly taking the piss and they all start cracking up. then they start going on about how much they fancy me and at this point i was near tears. i've suffered anxiety and low self esteem for 6 years and it makes me feel ugly and disgusting when i've only started to feel like i'm not totally hideous about 2 months ago. it's like all my friends and family insist i'm pretty but these ***** are seriously making me feel like i'm worthless and ugly and i hate it.

i have no idea what to do anymore, advice? it's sad because J is always really nice when he's not with M and that. :/

Because whilst it may be easy for them to insult your appearance [which, by the way, is not at all bad], it still doesn't bypass the fact that they are all evidently irrelevant, worthless, narrow-minded little cretins that all have serious insecurities [hence why they pick on vulnerable people, to try and make themselves feel better]. School is crap. Everyone, including all of them, has been belittled, bullied or made to feel worthless in school. Some people decide to respond to that by doing it to others to make themselves feel better; and some people just get their kicks out of being nasty. There's a whole culture of following the crowd to be accepted. Just remember that, in a few years, you will be free of these people and never have to see them again. I finished school this time last year; I only ever see my friends because they're the people I want to see - it's that simple. Focus on that thought whenever stuff like this happens to you in the future Cara (although I sincerely hope it doesn't, and good on your sister for giving him hell on the phone!)

And, as I think every other person in this thread has said, you are a pretty girl Cara; maybe they don't think you are (and, maybe, some of them do think you're pretty - it could be a classic case of boys being cruel to girls they like - you never know!) but school is a very small pond that so many people try to be big fish in. It's a rubbish situation but I hope it works itself out, and I hope you rise above it x
