I'm starting to believe the producers/Simon planned putting together One Direction before the auditions even started.

Find 5 good looking teenage Boys, one very good singer (Liam), one an Ok singer but with a cheeky personality(Harry), a moody one (Zain), the buffoon (Niall) and the comedian (Louis). That's why Liam wasn't put through to judges house even though he was vocally stronger than some who were and why Simon was given the groups category.
