Would you be put off a product if it was advertised by someone with a facial disfigurement?
Would you be put off by a person on TV with a facial disfigurement? Please answer honestly and not what you think others want to hear Me - I wouldn't be put off by someone on TV but I'm split about the products thing. Basically as I never buy whats advertised anyway but would I want to see advertisements with disfigured people or the more aesthetically pleasing ?? :/ |

Well I guess the pic is an example. Would parents want to see a baby with a cleft palate adertising baby products? I'd rather see them getting better (which I know is the wrong phrase)
However please don't use this thread to spam photos of disfigurements. We all know what they are |

depends on the product.
can't imagine I would. But commercials are usually about aspiration and nobody aspires to be disfigured. |

Depends what the product was. If it's a spot reducing cream and the person is full of spots I would have questions. Would you be put off by a person on TV with a facial disfigurement? Absolutely not. Breaks my heart when people are judged or mocked because of their disfigurement. There's an old man that lives close by. his face is actually grey, as if an iron was placed on him and the color is now cooling off. Breaks my heart the way some stare and the way he walks with his head down as if he has no right to be here or he should be ashamed. Haven't seen him in a while actually..

Kinda reminds me of the time some parents were trying to get a CBBC presenter sacked because half of one of her arms were missing.

It is so disgusting. Every time that advert comes on tv... horrible. Fair enough if they have to show it but they shouldn't be allowed to during the day

Why is there a problem with starting a thread about a subject you've seen in a documentory?

As if more evidence were needed that society's self-appointed arbiters of what people should and shouldn't be able to watch were the biggest arseholes on the face of the planet.

Yeah, not in a shallow way, as I feel sorry for them, its just, makes it less appealing.
I think Zippy has it right with aspirations. However for a TV show no, just product advertisement (unless they were amongst 'normal' people).

I wouldn't be put off. If anything I feel sorry for them.
However, it depends. Like Iloveyoutoo said, if a person with severe spots was advertising spot cream then it wouldn't work. |
