worst waste of money ik UK history....we the tax payer are basically subsidising the private train companies tens of billions and lining the pockets of the bosses to get from manchester to london 20 minutes quicker (If theres no animals on the tracks or delays at the stations) what a joke.....meanwhile tens of thousands die from preventable illnesses in our underfunded hospitals, the roads are a disaster, the gas is running out and the severn barrage which would save us billions FOREVER is again ignored for another generation

100% against. why should the public pay 60 billion to pay for a train set for a privatised sector? its morally disgusting. let the private companies pay for their own train set. leave us out of it.....if new labour had any backbone theyd be fighting to renationalise the train lines. this is disgraceful and the shareholders will cream more profits from the tax payers

It isn't worth the funding at all Kizzy, this is something that really should be looked at again and in fact halted.
I agree with all who advocate that.

the fact it has cross party support is deeply disturbing....NO ONE has put the argument to the people? 60 billion is a complete and utter disgrace even if it was nationalised , but as its privatized its a massive scandal of epic proportions...but dumbed down Britain will never get this debate, they'll just insult each other deflect away from real debate and do what both parties do, leave the costs to the public sector and the profits will be privatised....ye another area milliband failed to attack

Anyone fancy a nice little wager with me? I bet that this is yet more 'money laundering'. Billions of £££££''s of public money go in one end, then the whole project once up and running ends up in the hands of Private Enterprise for the bargain price of £10.00 and a Bag of Peanuts Millenium Dome style.

New homes will be bulldozed for HS2 railway line

The Government's route for the Manchester and Leeds arms of the high-speed line will mean at least 16 families lose their homes.

what a sick joke this is...not new trackes either just speed and even getting rid of the signal men/women...cue more accidents and bigger profits for the corporations more bills for the tax payer to renew the tracks and pay for the accidents in blood
