It's a very difficult and controversial question, mainly because we're yet to see a country that actually resembles what a true Socialist system should look like, few would claim that places like the USSR, China, Yugoslavia, Cuba, Albania etc. are or were ever truly Socialist mainly because the means of production weren't held in common
I'd say that if Socialism could ever be successfully implemented then it would cause less "misery", I'm just not sure that would ever realistically happen |

I have voted for capitalism, the socialist ideal would be good for a greater majority but as with capitalism it is the extremes that would be as grinding down people too.
A mix is the best option I would say, compromise is what is most beneficial but once you get top dog capitalists just wanting to further feather their own nests at the expense of leaving others with no nests then those extremes should be unacceptable in any society. As to the UK, well, I don't really believe socialism has been or will be the norm here. Labour govts of the past for instance, who 'claimed' to be socialist, once they got power became mild to moderate capitalists. However capitalism has it's benefits too,you need the wealth creators, just wish more of them had better consciences. |

It would seem obvious to me that socialist (not communist) system results in better human happiness. Capitalism just favours profits and is built form the ground up to be all about money. Socialism at least forces the state to provide free services for the people (like healthcare and transport for example) so that things aren't ridiculously expensive. Socialism is just a fairer and more equal system (when implemented properly).
Thats my opinion anyways.

"I'd say that if Socialism could ever be successfully "
It can not as Production is in a Market Place we have Leaders of each Company. So It can never work any place on Earth. |
