Default Why is the Burka banned in France?

Does anyone know what the actual logic behind this is? I know it attracts looks and all but surely it's up to them to decide what to do?

There probably isn't a single person on here who has quite so much hate for the sheer idiocy of Islam as I but why ban it?

I did a thread on it.

In France the Laws are not like the UK.
This was a typical French Introduction.

It was done so all at schools were the same
Thats logical

Not too sure, but i can see reasons why it would be. Mainly, security. In a day where the majority of our lives is CCTV recorded, it makes no sense to allow people to walk round hiding under burkas on all looking the same. Motorbike helmets arent allowed in most public places (banks, supermarkets etc) so I dont see why burkas should be.

Identity & security purposes, and they might also say it's degrading and outdated etc etc

I don't personally agree with banning it though

Yeah. I have it in for idiots in general, particularly ones who worship some book written by some bastard telling them to stone gays to death but you'd have to be exceptionally retarded to walk around looking like some zombie all day and scaring off the children all in the name of "Allah".

So you must hate all religion then cuz that kind of fanaticism and crazy idealism exists in all religions.

Depends what sort of religion it is really. I do like the Jews and some Christians and the majority are lovely people.

Extreme Christianity, Islam and Hinduism are all retarded religions in my opinion but hey...live life and let live.

Meh. It depends if they're actually contributing to the society and not just staying in their own group of people with the same religious beliefs but the burka/niquab wearing ones never cease to amaze me.

And, hey, that's not even me being racist. I couldn't give a flying monkey's if these people are coming from Somalia or Lebanon. I don't like them because Islam is stupid and in my opinion they are stupid.

The Old Testament, which the Jews follow, calls for gays to be killed. As Jesus was a Jew and said that he upholds the laws of Moses, you would think that Christians would want to go along with what he said. The truth is, most intelligent people do not interpret literally what was written five thousand (or two thousand for Christians) years ago.

While there are sections of Islam that still live in dark ages, many do not and would not consider oppressive or hateful teachings as being true to the koran. You can't tar everyone with the same brush; the real enemy is not a particular faith, but fundamentalist fanaticism.

More on topic, although France has banned the burka, other expressions of faith are allowed, the hijab, crucifixes, stars and David etc.

Well at the end of the day it's security in numbers. If they have their own areas or whatever they feel safe. Some areas they don't even need to speak English and can go day to day life without needing to. It's only the strong willed ones that step up and speak out against Islam. And that usually ends up being disowned from their family and shunned by the community.
