I was at college with a woman whose daughter was also a student. She took great pleasure in explaining how her daughter was a lesbian who never went to straight bars, had no straight friends, and made as much effort as she could to avoid straight people. So I guess she could be one?

A fear/dislike to straight people? I doubt it really.

Straight people are deemed to be normal in society if you know what I mean. If it does exist it exists in small minorities probably amongst gay/lesbian people. Unless I've just stated the obvious

Edit: in no way do I believe gay people are abnormal.

Yeah I know what you mean, being straight is the norm and they are the dominant sexuality in every country, it's hard to imagine them as a group being discriminated against

But then there's the whole concept of being discriminated against, because you are the majority, which in turn could make the minority envious. Therefore, even though i'm sure it's very rare, I do think heterophobia exists. That being said, it probably doesn't get as extreme as homophobia. Someone can be mildly heterophobic being homosexual just because there is that feeling of difference. It might even be possible for a straight person to be heterophobic - like a gay person can be homophobic.

Not sure I agree with that. Just because one group is discriminated against, doesn't mean they wouldn't discriminate against another group. Being a victim doesn't make you virtuous.

I'm sure there are gay people who have issues with heteros, just like there are heterosexuals who have issues with gays. Every minority group reflects society I think.

It's a bit of a stretch to actually believe this would exist as a fear in its own right, Homophobia exists as it is based on fear and prejudice of being different. As Heterosexuality is by far the majority position for most people it is hard to see how a fear of the "normal" could develop.

A dislike of straight people is slightly different and probably is shared by more than a few people in the Gay community.

What Glenn said. I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that there are some sexual minority members who don't like "straight" people but they're in a tiny minority and it has far less impact than homophobia.
