Default Big Brother Falling Short In Ratings....

Apparently Mr Frow is under pressure for big brother to be matching the viewing figures some of the imports and doc's have be hitting in the overnights.

Which most recently are anywhere upto 1.8million.

For example a documentary called extradionary people last week rounded up to 1.7million overnight.

BB is averaging around 1.4million per night, some nights slightly lower and others up etc.

Ethier way big bro is a good 300.000 short in viewing numbers, and is more expensive then the imports/docs.

The axeman must be licking his lips....I don't see an increase at this stage of the series sadly.

That's why you've seen a mixed schedule, with bb appearing to start at 10pm some nights, and 9pm other's.
To see which deliver's better in ratings and share.

According to DS Extraordinary People got 1.44m last week while BB got 1.46m, and with BB being at 10 that was also a much better audience share (7.2% vs 8.4%): http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/news/...s-for-itv.html

Plus it's not like the schedule has been some random mix up of 9pm and 10pm shows, all series it has been consistent with it being on at 10pm Monday-Thursday and 9pm Friday-Sunday

The figures are low this year due to the fact that we are not watching Big Brother, we are being forced to watch a diluted version of the program when the prods are clearly running the shows order. BB is all about the fans controlling the HM,s destiny. That's being ruined this year and they need to butt out and let the program flow. These twists are good for one or two nights but at the end of the week, we are being robbed. When you upset a fan, some will switch off because they are mad they cant control things.

Ive stopped watching BBBots due to AJ and Rylan being so bloody awful but my interest in the main show has been diluted because its so predictable. We are being spoon fed conflict day in day out. Ask yourself this.....when was the last task and when did you last laugh at the programs highlights.

In an interview recently Ben Frow said C5 are dropping Extraordinary people, moving imports to 10pm to allow homegrown shows to shine... So there is no pressure on him at all considering they are focusing less on the things you say they want BB to emulate. Also, BB time shifts well- as high as 2million sometimes. There is nothing to worry about.

How do you know this?

Has Ben Frow told you personally or have you been sat in a board meeting.

When posting such an important thread you really should post a SOURCE.

I believe this is your speculation and nothing else.

It's probably an example of people posting their own views and dressing it up to look like something "official".

Best treated as BS until proved otherwise!

Load of cack lol, don't believe threads that start with 'apparently'. People need to understand that it isn't all about ratings, but the share. If a US import gets a lower share than BB at 9PM, but the same ratings/slightly higher, what one of the two would you think done better?

There's a reason he's made all the changes, and the reality is, the show hasn't delivered.

The fans cried out for a new presenter, more live feed, and less wannabe's.Mr frow put up on his end.

We've had all of that and the ratings are pretty much the same, he is under pressure to achieve better ratings with bb. He's a big bro fan himself and wants the show to strive, but i can't see that happening atm.

Having an uncle who who know's a close colleague of his, he told me that he was quietly gutted about the launch figures.

Everybody was gutted about the launch figures, at it was 5's fault for the lack of any advertisement apart from on 5. Ratings have been consistant, acheiving decent shares and beatings channel 4 god knows how many times in the ratings.

Ah, the old 'friend of a friend of a friend' source...
I'm sure Channel 5 were all hoping for higher ratings, but at least they have been been consistent and - as posted by others - have continually beaten Ch4. Until we get an OFFICIAL confirmation then we have no idea how Ch5 are really thinking.

It not a question of belief. It's more the likelihood of messages getting distorted in transmission!

Very likely when, as has been said, it's whispers passed through several sources.

from the guardian 4 days ago seems to be doin better than channel 4
TV ratings – 4 July
Big Brother wins it for Channel 5

Channel 4 got a dusting from its former stalwart show as none of its own homegrown programmes reached 1 million viewers

Big Brother
Big Brother was watched by 1.5 million people on Channel 5 on Thursday night, an 8.7% share of the audience. Photograph: Channel 5

Big Brother came back to haunt Channel 4 as none of its homegrown shows managed to muster a million viewers and it was beaten in the ratings by Channel 5.

The third episode of Channel 4's new fly-on-the-wall dating series First Dates could only manage 923,000 viewers, a 4.6% share, between 9pm and 10pm on Thursday, with hidden camera show Eye Spy watched by 747,000 people (4.5%) between 10pm and 11.05pm.

Channel 4's lineup lost out to Channel 5's "shock doc", 21 and 3ft Tall, part of its Extraordinary People strand, which had 1.6 million viewers (7.8%) at 9pm, and the 1.5 million people (8.7%) who watched Big Brother at 10pm.

The only Channel 4 show to reach 1 million viewers was The Simpsons at 6pm. With 1.1 million viewers (7.3%) it was ahead of Channel 5 soap Home and Away, watched by 609,000 viewers.

Overall, Channel 4 had a 4.4% share of the peak-time audience between 6pm and 10.30pm, behind Channel 5's 5%. Channel 5's all-day share of 4.8% was also ahead of Channel 4's 4.3%.

BBC1's peak-time share of 21.4% was ahead of ITV's 19.9%, with BBC2 on 7.5%.

I should think C5 is delighted with BB's performance.

The OP needs to get back to his uncle or whoever and tell him to stop feeding duff info. Lol!

Also BB brings in valuable 16-24s which no other show in their schedule does.

The way the show can get more ratings is if:

A) They put it back on at 9PM
B) They actually bother to promote it on channels other than 5, 5* and 5USA.
C) They make it actually worth watching (from a casual viewers point of view).

Oh I did laugh at AJ's dog collar being put to good use, holding her dress up. Fast forwarded most of it as usual and the Sunday show is the very worst so that is gone. These two have ruined what was left of a pretty inane show.

I must admit compared to last year's BB I am now only watching about 40%. I have stopped watching BBBOTS completely as I cannot stomach the god awful presenters and tbh most of it is s**t anyway. Also when I did watch BOTS I would see the same BB footage on the highlights show the following evening so I was effectively watching the same stories twice.

I also do not watch any of the weekend themed BB programmes for the same reasons ie low budget low quality nonsense.

I still watch the HL show and would love to watch LF if they ever showed it.

Plus of course I watch the eviction night shows. But all in all well down on last year...!!!
