Default A dilemma, what would you do if....

...I don't know if anyone watched 'A Mother's Son' last night...but a mother suspects that her son could be the killer of a local girl, and has the dilemma of whether to denounce him, or protect him and help cover up what he did...

..if you had a close relative..child/parent/sibling etc..and you suspected they had committed a serious violent crime, what would you do..report them to the police or protect them..?...

I don't know, it would depend on the circumstance around it I think

I would report him then get him a good lawyer.
If he had killed someone then he would need to be brought to justice, for his own sake as much as others.

..that might be a bit obvious from the lump in the carpet and after a while it would smell quite badly, so maybe put it in a cellar/basement instead...

I'm not a father, but going from the bond I have with my niece I would do everything in my power to protect her tbh(as long as it wasn't a family member). Hell, I would consider taking the rap myself

Shop 'em, wouldn't feel comfortable around them after they'd done that anyway especially if they didn't turn themselves in and I'd feel too guilty about it, plus if I got caught covering for them I'd end up going down as well

Would only be different if they had a very valid motive

Hmm, the question said,if we suspected that someone in our family had committed a violent act.
If I only suspected they had then I would do nothing or try to as best I could find the proof they had.

If I knew for certain they had then I would give them an opportunity to hand themselves in or then I would likely report what I knew.
Only however if I was really certain.

That's a question, for me I could only answer if it happened to me but my first thought right now is to arrange for them to escape the country...but then I think about the victims and that's when it would become difficult.
