Default Major XFactor USA Cock Up, contestants have to sing again

From Digital Spy :

Samuel W

There was a major cock up on yesterday's first live episode of XFactor USA... The voting numbers at the end of the show were wrong for every contestant.

As a result, in tonight's results show, every contestant has to sing once again [with a new song] with voting lines opening once again.

Cowell has apologised to fans on twitter for this major cock up.

Omg!

How do they know the voting figures are wrong?

Oooops edit. I see it was the numbers that were wrong.

I just read that voting in the Us version is free. Still, someone's head will be on the line.

US televotes are free for the most part as far as I'm aware because they can fund the production through excessive product placement (that's why you'll see Coke or Pepsi glasses on the judges table in this/American Idol)

Simon really thought that X-factor US would replace American Idol... lol what a moron.

Kelly Clarkson is the only decent winner they've ever had from these type of shows. they should have just quit after that cause no one will ever be as great as Kelly Clarkson.

you think having a coke glass on the table is "excessive"? lol

I think it's hilarious how in britain they say BBC doesn't have any ads, but every time i watch BBC there are a million ads for BBC on BBC lol

That';s like saying if coke had a channel and they advertised coke, it's not really advertising because they are only advertising coke on the coke channel.

No, that was just one example. They're also referencing the sponsors name and finding some way to fit items in the show around it. I have no issues with it, I'm just saying that from a British perspective it would be seen as excessive. Actually tbh in recent years the UK showing is following the same kinda thing, Samsung Mobile sponsored a series a few years ago and all the acts were given their products which they were seen using during VTs.

Am I right in thinking it's actually illegal in the US to charge for televotes?

Promotional ads for your own networks programmes on a state funded broadcaster are very different to commercial ads for products that companies have paid to advertise

of course it's different, it's FREE advertising, while everyone else has to PAY for it, i agree, that is a BIG difference.

you are wrong, there is nothing illegal about charging for phone-in votes in the US. When the US did a version of I'm a Celebrity, i'm pretty sure they charged for votes (maybe that's why it was a failure). I remember voting for Janice and it was like 50 cents per vote.

Nothing wrong with the difference either, I appreciate ad breaks on other channels but the BBC is one of the best institutions in the UK IMO. I don't watch a lot of their channels but their website, radio stations, catch up service and news centre are of the highest quality available in Britain and justify the license fee completely

To have a mostly neutral news service is much appreciated, I would rather that than ITV News, Sky, Fox, God forbid...C5 News (shudders)

The show is an utter flop..

The Voice has just got everything right and is a far more enjoyable show.

That said Alex and Sierra > any The Voice contestant this year.
