Just Finished it

I actually found it very easy to follow, I didn't remember anything about it even though I did watch it years ago but I think I read somewhere recently that it starts at the end so that helped me get in to how the film flowed from the start.

Anyway yes it really is a master piece, better than Inception even and I loved that. Such a clever film. Having that condition must be so **** though.

So he was able to make some memories because he remembered that he killed his wife but he remembered it as Sammy Jankis doing it even invented memories of Sammys imaginery wife.

2 small things that seemed wrong though, he slept on the wrong side of bed, when he was remembering his wife reading in bed she was on the righthand side but when he woke up in bed he was on the righthand side everytime and two when he had Dodd in the wardrobe and he didn't remember why he immediately went to his coat pocket to get his pictures, how would he have known they were there? But yeah that's just nitpicking, brilliant film

Weird you mentioning that Film and Colin Farrell being in it because earlier today i walked in to the sitting room and saw Colin Farrell on the TV and for a second I thought it was Minority Report, but it was actually the Total Recall remake

...I agree with what Niamh has said and it really is a brilliantly done ...I guess on second watch, I watched it quite differently because I was really drawn to thinking about Alzheimer’s, maybe because I have a personal attachment and interest there ...but all through, I was thinking of the movie Still Alice and the sometimes similarities...he tattooed his body (...as well as making his notes...)...and she also made her notes, obviously...as if she could somehow force her memories...?...the bit when he was trying to focus when Natalie left and searching frantically for a pen so that he could write down was so tense and reminded me of a similar scene in Still Alice when she had written down a whole sequence of things in order...but then the phone rang and the whole sequence was lost and broken to her ...so, although his inability to make memories was because of trauma, the story felt quite a lot about mental illness and how that ‘recognition and emotion’ is searched for so desperately...and sometimes it appears to be there but then it’s like an optical illusion because in
a split second it’s gone again, well it was never really there at all ...although it felt quite bleak and emotionless in some ways...how people exploited his situation because he wouldn’t remember anyway, it was also very emotional as well, I felt...it really is a total entrapment within a mind....a great movie with so many layers of thought of a human mind and what’s held in our memories and what if those are lost...all that’s left is a hollow shell...

...the use of the black and white filming as well, it was all very well made, an excellent movie...I’m glad that Bollo recommended it...I didn’t associate similarities with Alzheimer’s on first watch or things with Still Alice so it was great to watch it with a different eye and focus as well...
