Default Verbal Assault... What Would You Do?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMU8TwC652M

If you were witness to this, how would you respond?

I would 100 per cent tell her to shut her mouth, incredible that her two friends just stood by and let her rant

No doubt I would've dragged her away to calm down, she seems a very angry woman and her use of the word was maybe used once and seeing she got a reaction she went further to annoy him.
It was a rant, it was offensive but do I think she should face jail? No.

Her losing her friends and the backlash within her community will be punishment enough, his comments surrounded by his books were not necessary, there are bigger issues than this faced by African Americans.

The use of his insult 'cracker' was questioned and the reasoning behind it was it is also an historically offensive term.. so where is the high ground?

Agree with that, no way should be jailed, she lost her temper and I guess him filming her didn't help but you have to wonder why her friends just stood by and did nothing, and yes I think he has taken his reaction to the extreme

Especially when her friends were black people too!! That woman needs her potty mouth washing out with soap and I would love to be the one to do it. As for spitting disgusting and vile.

Notice the clip of her smacking the camera from his hand, that would show he invaded her personal space (arms length) which is intimidating and threatening behaviour. He was also using a recording device in a public place and shared images of individuals without seeking permission....Who's going to jail now?

I believe the other two girls were sucked in.
“It's about survival: people either adopt bullying tactics themselves and thus survive by not becoming a target, or they stand up against bullying and refuse to join in, in which case they are at risk of being bullied, harassed and victimized themselves”
Tim Field

She came at the camera, the camera didn’t come at her and anyway, a hate crime was being recorded for evidence.

I don't think she's a racist; I think she's just a crack head.

I would have told that bitch to shut her dirty racist mouth and intervened as you would if you saw anyone being bullied.
PS it's not illegal to record anything or anyone out in a public space afaik.Only on private land(which that festival quite possibly could have been).
I can understand why that guy was so angry however he lost a little of his moral highground when he used the word cracker. There were plenty of other words to show his disdain rather than resorting to racism himself.

There's only two ways I accept someone being arrested for racism.

1. If it goes physical which I think we all would agree with that.

2. Is if the person that's being racist is constantly stalking the other person that they're being racist against.

If it's just a heated row then no I wouldn't arrest them as words are just words, otherwise we go down a slippery slope where people could be arrested for calling someone a fat bastard or something else that can be deemed prejudicial.

Verbal assault can be a crime.

I was verbally assaulted when I was 7 months pregnant. I wasn’t touched but I was threatened. I was so frightened and traumatized by that assault that I had my baby 8 weeks early.

Words can be very damaging.
