Sony needs to extend the deal it has with Marvel to all of the Sony owned characters. It's looking like they don't know what they are doing. The whole 'dated' rationality just shows that they haven't learned from Amazing Spiderman 2 which felt like it was pulled out of the 90's.
Let Marvel handle the creative side and just co-produce the films, that's what Sony needs to do. |

Because all the verified reviewers are just hoping to sabotage Venom for the benefit of A Star is Born? Those are the only impressions anyone cares about, ain't nobody paying attention to no namer reviewers. A non-story.

I've seen some good reviews of it, or at least some that say it is fairly enjoyable.

Why didn’t venom just buy good reviews? I thought it was a common marketing trick?

Not really sure what Warner Bros has to do with this nor what them being an owner implies, reviews are submitted by independent reviewers to RT, RT is just like MC where numerous reviews are noted

Rotten Tomatoes gathers critical reviews from other places and delivers a percentage based on the review scores, it's not really something that can be abused unless you're trying to make out that Warner Bros (but let's be real, you're referring to Lady Gaga here) somehow has bought reviews from pretty much every professional reviewer out there that has given ASIB a good review? As I said before, very few people care about audience scores since they won't affect whether someone chooses to see a film so Venom or Gaga fans trashing each others' films doesn't really matter. It's fine to hate something but when you're spinning obsessive stories to discredit it then that's when things get worrying. |

Gaga fans vs Marvel fans is one of the cultural battles that symbolises our time, I think.

Someone in DS has just posted a review:
https://forums.digitalspy.com/discus...mment_91433159 "Just seen Venom... And actually, it was far better than I thought it would be. It probably helped that it was only 90 minutes long and in these days of 2hr superhero opus', its brevity was welcome. Main thoughts.. The film move pretty swiftly, from Brock's downfall to (kind of) redemption when he's consumed by the "parasite", and it's these internalised conversations between Eddie and Venom that are the film's strong points. On the action front, there are two main set pieces; the street chase scene and a confrontation with a SWAT team, which features some great visual flourishes (smokes & lighting used to good effect). The plot is serviceable enough with clearly drawn good / bad guys and, a narrative suggesting a bigger threat than Venom was at stake. Riz Ahmed as the chief baddie was fine, I had no real issues with him. More out of place was Michelle Williams as Brock's love interest. There is violence, but most of this is off screen or too quick to register. A 15 certificate is appropriate. The end smack-down was similar to the CGI slugfest seen in The Incredible Hulk (Ed Norton), but thankfully there was better stuff beforehand, so I could forgive this oft seen climax. The obligatory (read) annoying appearance of Stan Lee elicited the usual groan from me (takes you out of the movie. Give it up already Stan!), but overall I quite enjoyed this version of Venom. If anything, at least it should bury the abdominal take on the character from Spider-Man 3. Though I was initially annoyed with Hardy's affected, rasping voice, I gave in and just went with it. Given his "loser" status, it seemed a decent enough fit. With the mid-credit scene, a sequel seems on the cards and I don't think I'd mind this. Whilst it's no classic Spider-Man 2, Venom is nowhere near as bad as the likes of Fant4Stic or The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Rating - 4/5. Definitely worth a watch." |

It should have been an 18, full-on "gore fest" tbh to set it apart from the crowd. But nevertheless, I'm intrigued.

I guess they decided to release it earlier in the month to avoid the stiff competition like "Halloween" - Which is said to be amazing. |

Most of the reviews I've seen have all been negative so far and the film has a 31% on rotten tomatoes.
I will probably still watch it though. |

I would wait till it’s online too but it’s difficult to find one with good quality. Besides it’s not the first time I’ve watched a comic Book film that had bad reviews.

Venom is headed for a record-breaking opening weekend win at the box office. Venom is projected to earn approximately $80 million in its opening weekend at the box office following a record-breaking preview night. A Star Is Born, the Lady Gaga film that fans on the internet turned into a nemesis for Venom, will come in second with about $45 million in its opening weekend. Both films are blowing past initial projections. Those projections had Venom pegged for $60 million tops. Venom will easily become the biggest October box office opening of all time, flying past previous record-holder Gravity, which opened to $55.8 million in 2013. Venom stars Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, the journalist who bonds to an alien symbiote to become the Spider-Man villain and then antihero called Venom. Tough Venom’s origin is tied tightly to Spidey in the Marvel Comics universe, Sony is using Venom as a launchpad for its own universe of films focused on Spider-Man supporting characters such as Morbius, Black Cat, Silver Sable, and Nightwatch. Venom is directed by Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland) and was made with a $100 million budget. Venom has received mostly negative reviews from critics, managing only a 32 percent Rotten Tomatoes score, but fans have been much more positive on the film, awarding it an 88 percent audience score. |

We all knew Venom would be number one this weekend, but I didn't expect it to do THAT well. Looking forward to watching it tomorrow with the family...
Despite a 28% Rotten Tomatoes score, 'Venom' has already broken a box-office record http://uk.businessinsider.com/venom-...-score-2018-10 ‘Venom’ to Devour October Box Office Record With $80 Million" https://www.billboard.com/articles/n...singing-to-40m Weekend Box Office: 'Venom' Heads for Massive $80M https://variety.com/2018/film/box-of...lo-1202971215/ |

It's fairly easy to get a big opening as a superhero film, the real test will be whether it can hold on to that audience in the next frame. Being a flash in the pan doesn't mean much.
