Well done for pumping out the Water.
[The group have been trapped in the Tham Luang Nang Non cave complex in Chiang Rai province, northern Thailand, for 10 days. The boys, aged between 11 and 16, and their 25-year-old coach have been trapped in the Tham Luang Nang Non cave complex in Chiang Rai province for 10 days. Provincial governor Narongsak Osatanakorn said during the rescue operation on Monday: "We found them safe. "But the operation isn't over."] https://news.sky.com/story/thailand-...-days-11424102 ![]() Last edited by arista; 10-07-2018 at 11:58 AM. |

As long as they had water, they would be fine for ages. The human body can survive months without food in most cases, with the exception of people who have diabetes and such. But glad there was a good outcome.

Yeah, they're expecting more heavy rain though which could make things worse

they should go for what is the safest option i think, cause it is a definite no no to get them out too rushed maybe covering the hole to prevent more rain coming in would be a good idea |

I'd be interested to hear whose idea it was, to take a bunch of kids into an underground cave network during rainy season... and some of the kids can't even swim. That said... how brilliant they found them. Can't imagine what their parents have been through.

on channel 4 news there was a piece on those amateur British cave divers who found them
they do it as a hobby and are now considered the best in the world whichever way they try to get those kids out it won't be easy |

All hail the Moyesiah

Imagine having to spend weeks living in a cave at that age, great that they're alive of course but it's gonna be a traumatic time

Unfortunately I'm reading that the real news is that it may be almost impossible to get them out and there's a risk even with just waiting.
Basically the choices are train these boys to dive through small, pitch black tunnels using rebreathers that take a tonne of training to use at all... a process which would literally take years to get them to the standard where there isn't a high risk of drowning on the way out. Or they can wait for the floodwaters to subside. Best case scenario it takes months and then they can simply walk out. Worst case scenario, the floodwaters drain towards them and the area they're trapped in gets flooded and they drown right there. It's a horrific situation, I can't imagine what it must be like for their families. |

another option they've been thinking about is to drill a hole from above
