I don't think she's ever made financial arguments for Scotland leaving the UK?

Deny, Defend, Depose.
|
Now take that energy forward into brexit.

Fair enough, I missed that then. The only arguments I've heard from her were about making their own laws and remaining in the EU.

Ugh YAWN! The English commentators trot out this same ****e every year. The Gers figures are NOT representative of what Scotland would be like as an independent country, for example it takes into account UK projects like Trident (100 billion quid) which we would be scrapping!

the troll comment at macron was more because his priorities should more be at solving the ''yellow vests protests''
he could've already done something at that, made france better and no more protesting and left negotiating with britain to Merkel and our dutch PM Rutte |

Obviously it's not a problem which it comes to travel between Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK, as there's the sea border, but it's hard to know what to do between NI and ROI...

There is no way to have a frictionless border and guarantee that appropriate duties are paid in both directions. Yes, they can use technology, but it would be so easy to exploit it that it's simply isn't worth the effort. Boris can't detail alternative solutions because nothing exists thats will adequately do the job

It's based on the incorrect assumption that Scotland wouldn't be making several structural changes to the economy following independence such as scrapping Westminster mandated projects (which would happen), and also that the financial situation in the rUK is going to even vaguely resemble the current situation following Brexit (which it will not).
A second independence referendum is being proposed in the event of Brexit going through. Thus, current figures are meaningless. |

Remembering Kerry

Quote:
I haven't an ounce of respect for Johnson. He is taking a way too extreme line on brexit and really his inconsistencies make him impossible to trust to do the best thing. I actually admire Macron. I think he is right in his view on the backstop and the Irish border issue The UK sadly has no leader who would really try to govern for all. Johnson for me will now more than likely bring about the end of the United Kingdom. If he sticks to his hard line on brexit. As for Scotland, they didn't and don't want to leave the EU. The way Westminster governments of both Parties have taken Scotland for granted and used them as an initial dumping ground for policies like the poll tax. I wouldn't say the Scots are better off in the UK really. Certainly not so, even moreso if we leave the EU with no deal. |

Sturgeon and Salmond always promised they'd match defence spending in an independent Scotland so that doesn't really fly..
It's clear that the bulk of this deficit is to do with Hollyrood's spending. Scotland's deficit is almost half of the entire UK's, it's 7% of their GDP as opposed to the UK as a whole which is 1.1%. That makes it one of the highest in Europe. The SNP bang on about their love for the EU but remember the measures the EU imposed on Greece, Portugal, Italy etc. when they ran up large deficits |
