Much is being made of this event all over the world thanks to the WWW. Meanwhile children are being murdered daily, they're going missing, being abused, being abandoned, being attacked by those who are supposed to love and protect them.... and I don't even mean in war zones.

Was this kid's treatment over the top? Yes, it probably was. But if it's the worst thing that kid ever has happen to her, she'll be very lucky. And the whole world doesn't need to know. I'd be interested to know how much the school/police settle with the family for though.

Worse things happen to kids is no kind of reasoning.

I was caned at primary school ( 60’s) . .. they used to hit your non writing hand .

At high school ( in the 70’s) teachers were allowed to whack you on the head or back with text books and throw wooden board cleaners at you for doing next to nothing .
The actual punishment was getting your backside whacked with a slipper ( or big plimsole ) .. it absolutely wrecked and you couldn’t sit down fir about 20 minutes due to the pain !!

Abuse... you are all describing abuse teachers hitting, throwing things or beating with implements ... its just abuse.
What regressive thinking to yearn for those times.
I was never hit but I do remember one lad who was always scruffy and inattentive he was sent out and hit, he came back crying, he was ashamed we saw him cry and it broke my heart

That's like my story kizzy.

Primary 7. David got 3 of the belt of an athletic 40 yr old man for having dirty hands, In front of the class as well.

Worst thing is...David was a slow kid...a friend I protected all the way through school because of that incident. .

I met up with him out of the blue in a pub a couple of years ago and he seems to have had a happy life.

I liked Mr Campbell as well up until then...looking back though he did manage to get a young lad an interview with David Steele on our annual london trip for p7s that year.

I ain't seen that lad since high school.
