Due to all this social distancing, I thought the best way to get out and exercise and not come into direct contact with people, was to use a cycle.
One problem. My cycle was in the shed with a flat tyre. Anyway, having had a few punctures on that bike, it didn't take an Einstein to work out it needed new tyres as well as the inner tube replaced. I took the bike to the repair shop and he did the job, new tyres and inner tube. My brother went to pick the bike up for me in his van and brought it to the house. It looked fine but when I tried it out on the road I nearly had an accident because the brakes weren't working.. And they had been before. So I rang up the shop and the bloke's wife said her hubby never touched the brakes. I said, but he'd put new tyres on. She said yes but he never touched the brakes. I thought he must have done something because the brakes were working when the bike was brought into the shop. Anyway, I expected more sense off him and when he came out he said the same thing, that he hadn't touched the brakes. I found this very odd behaviour. The point is he gave a bike back to the customer without testing the brakes. Nuts or what. Coupled with he was giving me back a dangerous bike. Reluctantly he fixed the bike but what a loony. No apology or nothing. A rather longwinded story but do you think I am being unreasonable expecting the bike to be returned with the brakes working??? |

If you only asked him to sort the tyres, then I don't think you can expect him to start giving the whole bike a service. If he'd sent it back but with a £15 invoice for brakes, you would have been equally miffed.

You should have bought your own replacement kits when you bought the bike if your ****ing fat arsed bike bothers you so much.
But yeah, welcome back. |

This is like taking your car for a new tyre and expecting them to find a completely different issue by doing a full MOT, surely.

It shouldn't have nearly caused an accident because you should test your brakes before you set off every time. This is basic cycling proficiency .

welcome back first of all
secondly, nothing unreasonable about wanting cycle to be fixed entirely (brakes included)

If you didn’t ask for a full service, or the shop has a policy of doing a routine check as part of a tyre replacement then no you are not entitled, have visions of Gusto speeding down a hill desperately trying to slam on the brakes

Well sorry to say Gusto but when you get a tyre changed on your car they don't check the brakes ! So not any different with a bike.

That said, I do have to admire the hubris of being pissed off after not receiving an apology. That's some real Becky with a bob, let me see the manager stuff right there.
