I do feel that they should be rewarded. They put their lives on the line. Something that wasn't conceivable 2 years ago. The problem the government has is that it is such a huge organisation, a small increase equates to a mountain of cash.
That's all well and good when they waste mountains of cash on needless sh*te.

I'm sure there are a lot of nurses who are completely demoralised, exhausted and just plain disillusioned after the pandemic. They didn't get into nursing for the good pay and conditions as there hasn't been a time in my memory when it was a lucrative career. However, they had holidays cancelled, worked back to back 12+ hour shifts and are bound to have been exhausted and stressed by it all. They have seen so many die to this disease and risked their own health to keep working that many who joined the health service to care for people may have reached their limits and come across as uncaring and stroppy. I'm sure there are some who are.perpetually like that, like there are in every walk of life. When my mum was dying (well before covid), every nurse I encountered during her hospital and then hospice care were fantastic. Maybe we were just lucky, but the care she received from the nurses was fantastic. The doctors were another story.

No, not wen I and my sisters have full ppe on.
And it’s not just that I’ve been in hospital visiting someone and nurses have ignored patients who asked for help saying they were going to sick ignored them they were sick and was still covered in sick 15 minutes later after I told them twice

Have you not heard of people dying of thirst or hunger on wards because no body could be bothered to feed them

My dad is diabetic and his sugars drop fast he was in hospital a week and a half ago he was waiting all day to see a doctor my sister explained his needs and the nurse said I don’t think there is anything left and my sister told her that is not good enough in the end my sister had to go and get him food from the shop

Have you never heard the say post code lottery wen it comes to your chances of survival depending on wich part of the country you are in.

That's awful. Do you think there was food left and they couldn't be bothered or was there actually nothing available? As that is another problem, the NHS is so cash strapped now that patients are suffering and not getting basic requirements.

The whole NHS is in crisis and if we lose more nurses because they feel under valued, sadly the things you've experienced are only going to get worse

You're right. Leave nurses on a piss poor wage, whilst the government continues to cut off the funding which is the true source of problems. It's not the nurse's fault there was no food left.

I said there are good nurses and for that matter good doctors and bad nurses and bad doctors

There are hundreds of deaths every year because doctors fobbed people of with it’s a head ache it’s it’s the flue it’s heart burn.

I’m not saying don’t give doctors and nurses a decent wage I’m saying some are not fit to be in health care.

No, and the idea that one party is better than the other is utter bollox

Governments are plate spinners that spin a load of plates and when after a while there have been so many breaks another government gets voted in and they start spinning plates and the cycle continues.

Fair enough.

I disagree with the last bit, as we'd seen 10 years of what the Tories had done to the NHS in real terms. I'd agree with you with this labour, definitely.

Define good in context... it may be 'good' but is it fair?

Is it comparably to other positions in the same bracket?
Take into consideration working conditions as well as the physical and mental impact of the job.

Imo due to the stress nurses face no it isn't a good wage.

What is?

It's the market rate

They worked thru the pandemic

Many did not

Maybe give a pay rise to those who did not get furlough?

And? Has the travel agent risked her own life and the lives of those she lives with to save others? No.

Has the travel agent who owns her own business had financial assistance from the gov to the tune of thousands? Yes.

I work for a small business and I know the amount of financial assistance that we have been able to claim, whilst sat healthy and safe (and bored) in our own homes.
