First Sunday in advent is when I put Christmas decoration up.
So that is 28th November this year.

Used to always have a real tree but have stopped that now.
So now I use an artificial one, it goes up first Sunday of advent too.

Tried putting the tree up last night..got it up but the lights dont work..

There was a scene..

Not by me btw, I just walked in and said you should have tried them to see if they work, before wrapping them round the thing.

That's when the scene happened.

My little tree has been down out of the loft since 3rd week in October...hubby had to empty the loft for the builders.
So it’s lurking in its box in the conservatory.
New big tree is on its way, should be at daughters on Saturday, if the builders get finished it will go up here, if not then daughter can use it.
Normally put the tree and decs up early December.

Will probably put ours up the first weekend in December. I've already started watching Christmas movies though

Not before December

I don't think we're putting up a tree this year - maybe a smaller fake one. We're not actually going to be here on Christmas day, we're away from the 23rd to the 27th for a remote cottage Christmas. We're going to decorate there for the day so I think we'll just have minimal here .

We did real trees for 4 years in a row and in March last year... we had a stack of 4 tree husks removed from a stack in the back garden. It was getting out of hand . The one last year dried out and shed loads of needles really early so I've gone off them, too much hassle to keep tidy and to dispose of.

A family round th'corner from me growing up bought and planted a live christmas tree on the year each of their three children was born. I moved away when I was about 12, they were pretty massive by then! I think the kids were 17, 15 and 12. That was 24 years ago now ( ), I wonder if those trees are still there. They'd surely be huge now... one of them would be 41

Awwh I looked on Google Streetview, they're gone. Guess those kids (now adults) will be cursed now or whatever.

It's my first year having my own place for Christmas so I was quite excited about decking it all out. Thought I'd go early so I have longer to enjoy it and have been putting up decorations today but I've already spent £50 just to decorate one corner of the room and I'm already feeling a bit underwhelmed

Starting to think a minimalist approach might be better. Maybe I should just focus on getting the tree right

Go tree small, presents big. Have the presents under the tree for ages.
