If it's that White I'm surprised he didn't snort it.

If he went to a festival somewhere in Africa, would he be tweeting saying it's 'too black'. Doubt it.

This guy is just trying to ride off Lenny Henry's comment.
The thing is you can't force black people to attend the venue if they don't want to, and if there's not enough black people wanting to sing Rock or Indie Music (the two primary Music genres at Glastonbury) then they're not gonna perform there, it's honestly not that deep. ![]()

I've never been to Glastonbury in my life ,doubt I'd enjoy it or the muddy rainy scenery climate. So I can't comment on it being "too white" . But even if Glastonbury is predominantly white , that's clearly the demographic that mostly go there . Can't really say anymore.

What you see on TV is very different as that's basically just a series of concerts not the 24/7 reality of living in a field for five days. Headline acts are only a tiny part of it as well. A bunch of bearded Lib Dems in their 50s is probably pretty true tbf but that goes for most festivals as they are hippy magnets and that's where their roots are

There's no such thing as "too white", or "too" anything, for that matter.
What do people making these vacuum-headed takes think would be the correct number of black people? There's a wrong number, and that's zero, but outside of specialist interest events, nothing is likely to only appeal to one demographic.

The one that even gives me the most beef is the black people who criticise certain festivals for being too white but coconut/Oreo the hell out of black people who do choose to listen to the type of music most-stanned at those places, even when it’s not actually at the expense of R&B/hip-hop. As far as I can tell this is just a demographic-preference thingy. If you like, go and listen to Manic Street Preachers and James Blunt. If you don’t like, go to Oye or down Spotify R&B-lane instead. In that sense England’s a totally free country.

Seriously, how many black British people relative to whites are going to camp out in Somerset for 5 days to listen to electro-indie (which actually isn’t bad but is far from the average black Brit’s cup of tea)? When are people going to get real for once?

I want to like this post but your sense of humour just doesn’t do it. Not ever.

Same as pride events, they are always lacking diversity.
And looking at the state of all those naked perverts wandering up the high street one can only wish for a bit of class and respect that my well mannered and well brought up black cousins would bring to the proceedings. |
