I'm a big space geek, so this is all awesome.
Though the cynic in my wonders why there needs to be a "first female" on the moon - with all the technological advances, is there an actual need for anyone to physically go there, ever again? Arranging the trip just so they can say they sent a woman to the moon does feel a bit of a Pyrrhic victory, especially considering the environmental costs of people going to space. And speaking of costs, somethingsomething spendingenoughtoendworldhunger somethingsomething... Anyway, I'll just fold up and put away my soapbox on the way out |

Interesting to see how long it takes to get there compared to 1969.

[Artemis 1: NASA moon launch postponed after hydrogen leak
Its first mission, a 42-day uncrewed flight around the moon, will test the huge rocket and the Orion spacecraft that astronauts will eventually travel in.] https://news.sky.com/story/artemis-1...-leak-12684614 Good job they spotted that leak Hell of an Explosion on wasted money would have happened. |

There's already more than enough money in the world to end world hunger and for everyone to live comfortably. It's a problem of will and greed, not resources.

Oh sure. What I meant was, as much as I love space, whenever "we" make vast strides and advances and I see the amazing pictures, I just think of the way the world could be improved with similar expenditure

the world never improves with random spending and thats what would be required to improve the circumstances of the worlds population. Focused spending on things like space programs could provide immeasurable benefits

Nasa: Artemis Moon rocket second launch attempt called off AGAIN
Surely this hopeless attempt to leave Earth and go to the Moon, fuels (no pun intended) the conspiracy theory that we never went to the Moon in the first place. And 53 years on from the 'first Moon landing', we can't even blast off in 2022. Also, I don't mean to be mean, but using rockets in 2022? You'd think they'd have invented some other way of leaving the Earth's atmosphere. On a serious note, I wouldn't like to be those spacemen/women training for missions to the Moon and Mars. Very very dangerous. Proof we're sort of still living in caves. |
