![]() ![]() Tragic Case. [Bronson's mother Sarah Piesse, 43, told The Sun: 'If social services had done their job Bronson would still be alive. But they didn't do anything. 'I can't believe it. They can't let them get away with this. We have to be able to rely on social workers to keep our children safe.' 'I've had the results of the post mortem. Bronson starved to death because his dad died. They think Kenneth died no earlier than December 29. 'It means if the social worker had pushed to get in when she got no reply on January 2 then Bronson would still have been alive.' On Facebook, Bronson's sister Melaniie Battersby wrote: 'Beautiful little boy deserved so much better than this life. We love you Bronson, forever a part of us, and forever my baby brother.' Adding her 'head and heart' were 'in pieces', she said: 'A lot of anger inside at minute when I just want to remember his little smile and soft nature instead. He were perfect.' Sarah last saw Bronson after getting into an argument with Kenneth before Christmas.] https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...-save-him.html The Mother should have visited she is to blame as well. The father must have had custody of the child which is why I'd imagine the mother wasn't there, it says the last time she called she'd had an argument with the childs father and also that the child was receiving weekly checks by social services so there's clearly more to this story as to why the mother wasn't visiting regularly and instead a social work was. I can understand why they're being blamed when they were supposed to see that child weekly, you would think they'd have gotten on to the landlord or police straight away when they couldn't see the child that first time, otherwise what's the point in them checking up on them at all?

Heartbreaking. I predict no one at social services will face any consequences for this.

The police have referred themselves to the Watchdog or whatever it is called
honestly....i would like a welfare check on a man with a serious heart issue and his 2 year old son and they did nothing twice! unforgivable

it's heartbreaking. It just takes one person to mess up and the whole system fails

Seems strange that a man with a serious heart condition was left to bring up a 2-year-old vulnerable boy.
And the social worker was not given a key to the door in advance. And the police also did not act. There are serious failings here. That poor boy died a painful slow death. ![]() |

A 2 year old with no food or water would die very quickly. A 1 week interval was too long if there was genuine concern over the fathers health

That's true. But the social worker was there was a reason.
They all should have thought in advance, 'what if'... The dad collapsed and wasn't necessarily dead. The social worker should have had immediate access to that property. We don't know if the dad suffered a sudden death. Maybe he died over several days too. Along with the boy. TWO lives could have been saved. The police also didn't act after repeated concerns from the social worker. |

I have to agree Parmy, there are some clear failings by the authorities here but the fact that they had no one else in their lives who would be concerned after at most a couple of days is absolutely tragic. Just really, really sad. What a lonely situation and lonely deaths.

The landlady was asked to open their door.
After 3 different knocks, from Social Services She would not appear on BBC News but spoke to them. So we heard her voice only. |

A friend visited on the 29th December and had a text message from the Dad thanking them for visiting, so he died between then and 2nd Jan, it possible if the police had done the welfare check on the 2nd the child might have been saved.

Awful tragedy as to both deaths.
Really heartbreaking to think of the horror leading up to the death of the 2 year old. Devastating. |

….so, so heart-rending ….and for the family as well of the father who have lost both a child and a grandchild…with his heart condition, so long as it was known… it’s hard to know why there wasn’t a circle of agencies and care givers around father and son that may have have alerted for a forced entry sooner and possibly prevented Bronson’s death in the time lapses that there was no response to contact attempts…to use parmnion’s word, there seems to be a very broken system and sadly a father and child have lost their lives very tragically….

in contact with her 2-year-old for 2 weeks that's cold. I am sorry but she should have got the home checked. |
