I hope that she will pull through, not just for her sake, but for her really young children's sake too.

Because speaking for myself, I dread to think what losing a parent at that age would've been like, because children aren't really ready for situations like what Kate's going through, especially if it goes south.

The one thing that baffled me though is that if she has already been diagnosed with cancer, why would she be having ‘preventative’ treatment?

I would imagine the cancer was removed during surgery but they're doing chemo to ensure that none has been missed that could potentially spread. Not really one it's possible to speculate much about though as nothing has been said about the type or stage of the cancer and both really make a huge difference.

Must be triggering for William either way, having lost his own mum at a young age. That'll massively ramp up the anxiety even if her prognosis is very good.

Because what they removed was cancerous they are targeting areas that will have more cancerous cells in them

Some cancers can see you off less than a month from initial diagnosis. However, we shouldn't underestimate the absolutely massive steps forward there have been in cancer treatment over the last couple of years. There have been mind blowing advancements

No doubt she'll be getting the absolute best treatment anyway.

There are lots of factors when it comes to cancer
But one thing we can all relate to is the fact it’s a young mother with three young kids regardless of Kate having married into the royal family

A doctor uses chemoprevention to lower a person’s risk of developing cancer, especially for:

People who are at a high risk of developing cancer. This includes those with an inherited cancer syndrome or a family history of cancer.
People who have already had cancer. Chemoprevention can lower the risk of a cancer recurrence or a new cancer. A recurrence is when the cancer comes back after treatment.

I'm pretty sure neither exercise nor protein shakes are causes of cancer...

Recent research has shown though that the #1 predictor of cancer survivability (the people who fare best with beating cancer basically) is the person's muscle mass at the time of getting cancer. So for example if a powerlifter and a supermodel (both otherwise healthy/healthy diets etc) were to get exactly the same cancer at exactly the same time, the powerlifter would have a significantly better chance of beating it. So yeah. Get your protein in and lift your heavy things folks.

I mean there is quite a significant amount of research and data on the causes of cancer. Obviously we don't know all of them but we do (even as common sense) know that fit and healthy people are less likely to get cancer than unhealthy people, and also that there's a generic element (more likely to get certain cancers if other people in your immediate family have had it). And that carcinogens exist. It's not still a complete mystery.
