Default Do you still watch terrestrial TV live?

By that I mean channels 1-5 and when they are airing the show; as opposed to watching it on catch-up/later on if recorded?

The only time I watch when it’s actually airing is BB, Eurovision or Apprentice. Can’t recall any other time in recent years when I have (except Wallace and Gromit at Christmas ).

Apart from a few things like Planet Earth, I can’t even recall any show I’ve watched from those channels at a later time.

I watch programs on the top 5 channels but rarely LIVE !

I record everything then fast forward through all the guff and adverts

Sadly , gone are the days of the ‘cliffhanger’ !!

Up to 20 million used to sit down at 7.30pm on a Wednesday evening to watch Coronation Street …. then that episode would always end on a cliffhanger or at a vital moment and we all had to wait until 7.30pm the following Monday evening to see what on gawd’s earth could possibly have happened !!

The Christmas episodes were watched by around 25 million !!

Then for some crazy reason they added a third weekly episode on a Friday evening and dispensed with cliffhangers .. in fact they went the opposite way and started telling us a week or so before …. what was gonna happen in the upcoming episodes

Fcuking madness … the viewing figures plummeted and the program never recovered

Sometimes - Dr Who, various reality TV, cozy detective dramas ... also things I want to see, but know I probably won't bother catching up on, comfy viewing like Dog House

Nope...hardly ever use catch up either.

YouTube is my go to place for viewing pleasure. Netflix at weekends if I fancy a binge watch weekend.

this is why viewing figures are dropping like a stone across network tv. I came from a generation where at one point we had 2 channels, ITV and BBC and yet i very rarely watch network tv. How is BB expected to pull in viewers who are completely out the habit of watching network tv. It's why the license fee is no longer sustainable either

I do quite a lot. I watch breakfast telly most mornings and often watch the news. I also like a lot of the quiz shows and documentaries you get on the normal channels

I find it simpler just to turn the telly on and watch whatevers on rather than trawling across multiple different streaming platforms to find something I might like

Stick at it, there's not many of you left.

I've usually scrolled for an hour before finding something. Usually just catch it before an ad break, so I'm forced into doing it all over again.
