Very sorry to hear that. Being stuck in the middle of nowhere on a nighttime is no place to be with how the snow is at the moment.

Everybody is talking about getting home extremely late after work at the minute, but that must have been even more frustrating. I hope they didn't charge you for it although I wouldn't be surprised.

Yes I was quite worried if inspector came, he/she could have charged me.
Luckily nobody came the night.

This morning, I left home earlier than usual to catch an earlier train as the weather was not good.
I was happy that I got a faster train but at the middle of journey, the train has broken down and we had to wait for the another one for some time. I was late to work after all.
I hate to be late. I did not want to make excuses of the bad weather.

Well the trains are enough of a pain without this snow. Do you use the London Overgound? I hope your employer understands. It's through no fault of your own.

Sorry, I forgot to mention London. It was alright, but I had some problems with the train myself. It was delayed by an hour going both there and back (this was before the snow started down South too). I had to stand up for three hours coming back as the train didn't stop until it got to York. This was while I was carrying some heavy baggage (including my mother's birthday present) from Oxford Circus. I could have gotten a seat if Network Rail hadn't made such a mess of King's Cross. The station is heavily partitioned between the waiting area and the platforms and there was no announcement of which platform I needed until two or so minutes before the train's (late) departure. Everybody was fighting to get on first and I could barely move. If I hadn't fought my way through the crowd to the information kiosk I wouldn't have known what the Hell was going on.

I didn't get home until midnight.

Yes I use overground and change at underground, Piccadilly Line in the morning.
In the evening, I walk (around 20 minutes) to Kings Cross and catch overground train.

In Kings Cross station, there are two platforms, main ones (0~8) and local one (9~11). Normally our trains run from local platform.
Between main and local platforms, they had Harry Potter's famous platform 9 3/4.http://server.zoerb.net/gratisausflug/images/bilder/platform9_34.jpg

Mother's birthday present!:spin:
I used to work in near Oxford Circus, but we moved to Holborn two years ago because of the rent and rate were unbelievable for a small travel agent. But I miss my lunch hour window shopping.

Do your remember I mentioned about when you come back from London,
you would feel relief to come home? Was I right? (sorry about midnight arrival)

Did you see your friend's show at Leicester Square?

I did not know about that.
I just googled.
He died in 1997 aged 38, weight related problem.
The reason he reminded me of your father was you played kamakamiwo's song *Over the rainbow" at your father's funeral.

I do not think I will mention Kamakawiwo again as I do not want make you sad unless you post.:(

Do your remember I mentioned about when you come back from London,

Did you see your friend's show at Leicester Square?Oh no, my friend couldn't get tickets... so just spent the night raiding through my DJ friends' collection of vinyl records. It was okay, but I felt a little out of my depth. They're music geeks, particularly experimental music. Their knowledge on the subject is insane.

I was going to tell you that the other day I made a phone call to a bank. I was told to hold, then the background music, it was one of yours! Unfortunately I did not remember the name but 100% certain you played it before.
Do you remember a music you would listen to, while you were driving in midnight.
I will listen to all your videos little by little to find the name.

This was the second time that I recognised the tune. The first one was at a shop few month ago.

This aria was used in Antichrist which I watched last night. Very weird juxtaposition and I'm not sure it works, but beautiful music anyhow. Pity it sounded awful through the compressed surround sound of the Sky broadcast I watched.

This slightly more "authentic" version (notice the tuning which is almost a semitone lower) sung by male soprano Philippe Jaroussky is very nice too.

Welcome back sooty. I hope you enjoyed Christmas. :)

Yes, Jaroussky is a countertenor and one of the few male singers able to sing in the soprano range with their modal voice (no falsetto). Generally the roles he sings were originally written for castrati (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castrati); eunuchs who were 'neutered' before puberty. This is the reason you see so much gender bending in modern day performances of early opera.

This is Sarah Connelly playing Julius Caeser. Uncanny. :D

That gives a very different impression of Delibes to the famous flower duet. Sounds slightly Wagnerian even. Must admit I've never actually seen Lakme myself  and I call myself a fan of French music.

Dame Joan Sutherland is quite the legend. Although a friend of mine, who is a singer, seems to think she became something of a parody of herself in her later years. What is true is that, like Maria Callas, Sutherland's voice deteriorated with time.

Maybe it was down to singing insanely difficult Bel Canto arias like this (this is Sutherland at the top of her game).
