I had History yesterday and my 3 favourite essays came up which I was pleased about, although I did write 12 A4 pages in 2 hours so it wrecked my hand. Also had Irish yesterday and I properly failed(I didn't even open one book) but meh its only Irish!
Had French today which I think I passed, woot. 2 days till summer holidays :cheer:

I've got a bunch of exams this week. Maths on Monday, English Tuesday, Science Wed, another English on Thursday, with French and History on Friday. At least once all of that is done with, I've only got 5 left over 2 weeks.
On the plus side, I only need 7% on the Science exam to even pass the bleedin' thing, 64% for an A*, which is way over my predicted grade of a B :D

Do you know what you're doing after GCSEs?
Wiglet
04-06-2007, 11:07 AM
I feel for those of you having to take so MANY exams!
I'm going back to studying in October via the Open University and I have two children and I changed my daughter's school at Easter because
A) she was unhappy at a place with 1800 pupils
B) she was drifting and at a lower standard academically in over half of her subjects than when she started three years ago..and
C) The school expected her to take between 10 and 11 GCSEs
I was appalled with this and when we tried to talk to the school the school were unsupportive (as usual). We took her out and put her in a private school which costs us a small fortune and she's now taking 8 GCSEs. I'm so pleased I made that decision especially when I read what some of you are going through. It's too much revision and I've been helping her with her end of year revision over the half term and that is hard enough.
I'm being a bit mumsy here but those who have someone to help them revise - USE THAT SOMEONE, Get lots of rest and don't sit up the night before worrying because if you don't know the answers then you never will.
(Sorry if this is a repeat of what someone else has said but there are 42 pages and I have not read them all)
:cheer:GOOD LUCK:cheer:
Bells
04-06-2007, 12:14 PM
Thanks wiglet!
I'm a last minute crammer as I said, I feel as if I can't work otherwise. It's a bad system but the main problem is that in some of my subjects I'm just not interested at all, which is why I can't wait till I go to University and actually do something I enjoy!
Anyway, I just had my French... I'm doing it in bits so it was just an hour long. It was quite hard really, I don't really revise for French because it's a language and I feel there's not a lot to go over at all.
Good luck to you people with exams this afternoon.
Hope the French went well Ash!
My first exam is on Wednesday, it's an AS History re-take so I'm not as nervous as usual as I already got a C last time which isn't too bad. The killer is on Friday which is A2 History, arghhhhh :bored:
Bells
04-06-2007, 01:49 PM
Eek, good luck with those! I felt glad about not taking History when I saw the size of the folder some of my friends have to learn.
I've only got the hour of Statistics tomorrow, which isn't too bad - I'll have a look at bits and bobs tonight. I probably will have to re-take some modules next year, but rather than complain I'm just glad I've got another shot!
Yeah the volume of work is quite vast in History but knowledge is only 50% of the battle, if that. Most of the marks are obtained through being able to analyse and evaluate facts and how far they contributed to a certain situation.
Yeah, count yourself lucky that you have another chance next year. This is my last chance!

Ohh me too! Long Walk Home was the easiest one that I could think of writing a story about! My story was crap, but I didn't manage to finish it in time.
I found the fish and chips one ok, but I haven't been in a fish and chips shop for ages, so I was trying to renember what it's like! The passage was alright, I just spent most of it saying that the jewller was rude!
Aww bless, the same was happening to this boy next to me. He went bright red all the time, it must have been horrible and people were laughing at him.

Ohh sounds good. Mine was about a group of friends who went to the beach. They live in the city so the beach is really far away. They were sunbathing for ages and then one of them went into the sea, so everyone else followed. When they got back they realised that EVERYTHING had been stolen!
(that's all I got to, I had it all in my mind but the bitch snached the paper off me!) I'll carry on....
They're left with nothing at all apart from their towels. All of their bags, shoes, food was stolen so they were basically stuck because they didn't have money or their mobiles. So then they need to start the long journy home...
(It's really bad.. sorry!)

I had that one too Sammy, writing an article to say mobile phones should be allowed in school... well that's the one i chose, pretty handy as i'm constantly questioning why we can't and stating why we should be allowed - an ideal question, ha ha.
It weren't as bad as i expected, because i did higher tier, i expected it to be a lot harder but although it weren't easy, it weren't as tough as i thought it would be.
I've got ICT and Biology tomorrow - i am still debating whether or not to turn up for my 3 Science exams, it will be a complete waste of my time, paper and ink.
Who else has one of those subjects that they know they're going to fail straight away?
I'm dreading French too, but i'm relying on coursework and part of my speaking exam to get my grade up.

Whenever I realise I'm going to fail something before I've attempted it, I just aim for the easy marks. Learn all the trivial facts, you'll probably get a fair chunk of marks in the questions that are on general knowledge. (:

how did it go?
i mucked up on the second part but oh well lol!!
no more exams until monday for me yay!
Just had my A2 History Unit 4, I hate being confident after exams cos that's just not my style but I'm pretty sure it went quite well. The question I did was a dream, I'd revised the area quite a lot so I was so relieved when I saw it come up.
Next exam is Psychology unit 4 on Tuesday, which I'm slighlty less confident about lol.

Yeah, my last one was on the 30th of May. I find it weird that they've still got exams running in England, I'd never get adjusted to that, it's almost summer!

My last one was on 29th May. Thats what i was thinking too, and I would hate my exams to be running when BB is on.
