Hamilton will be amazing, for me, he is just pure talent.

His overtake near the end of this race. okayhe touched him, but it was so good.

he didnt just touch him he cost him valuable points in the drivers championship,
Rubens is now third behind vettel....

Hamilton still has loads to learn....i think we forget technically he's still a rookie compared to the likes of rubens/fisichella.

On another note, Kimi is getting medical treatment for his eyes. He was blinded by the fuel that came of the mclaren....

any news on kimi hope he ok shows wha a good driver he is cos he carried on racing

i wish bernie would just retire or something already just when you think he cant get any more stupid with his comments he comes out with this gem

Just when you thought Bernie Ecclestone couldn't sink any lower, he comes up with a little gem stating that Ayrton Senna's death in 1994 was "good" for F1.

Senna tragically died at the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix, just a day after the sport lost Roland Ratzenberg, both through accidents.

The two deaths, especially triple World Champion Senna's, sparked an out pouring grief amongst Formula One fans.

However, Ecclestone, who has previously praised Adolf Hitler's management style, says it was good for the sport.

"It was unfortunate. But the generated publicity was so much... It was good for Formula 1," he told Brazilian newspaper Folha de São Paulo.

"It is a pity that we had to lose to Ayrton, but it happened. People who did not know anything about the sport knew more about Formula One because of the interest his death generated."

Adam Carroll may have slipped under the radar since he captured the A1GP championship for Team Ireland back in May but he hasn't been idle and the low profile has been deliberate.

He has been quietly working away behind the scenes, planning his racing future, but now crunch time is approaching for the 26-year-old Portadown driver.

Within the next few weeks the make-up of the 2010 Formula One grid will become apparent and with four new teams set to join the grand prix ranks, it is probably now or never for Carroll.

If he is to realise his dream of graduating to F1 it must surely happen in the coming weeks. And, I'm told, the signs are encouraging.

After his impressive double victory which secured the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport for Ireland at Brands Hatch almost six months ago, Carroll took the conscious decision to sit out the summer.

He had offers to drive in a number of competitions including the football themed Superleague and the Formula Masters series but rejected them, opting to concentrate instead on his F1 goal.

He has been in talks with a number of teams and with the potential backers who will be needed to ease him into the seat of a grand prix car.

Drivers like Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen may earn multi-million dollar fortunes but hopefuls like Carroll must fund their graduation.

The payback, if they are successful, will come later which is the gamble investors and sponsors are being asked to take.

But Carroll has the credentials to be an F1 success.

He has been a winner at every level of motor racing through Formula Ford, Formula Three, GP2 and most recently A1GP.

He has raced against — and beaten — at least half of the current F1 grid including 2008 World champion Hamilton, Nico Rosberg, Heikki Kovalainin, Timo Glock, Sebastien Buemi and Toni Luizzi.

They only thing he has lacked is money and the opportunities it brings.

The summer objective for Carroll and his advisors has been to raise the three-to-four million dollar budget required for the next step.

Shortly we will know if they have been successful.

Carroll won't — or more accurately can't because of confidentiality agreements — reveal which teams he is talking to but rumours continue to link him most closely with the new Manor Grand Prix operation which is expected to take to the grid next year under the Virgin banner.

The situation, however, has been complicated by the announcement of the exit of BMW-Sauber from the end of this season, putting established drivers like Robert Kubica (already snapped up by Renault) and Nick Heidfeld onto the market.

The Sauber team may yet survive under new owners but there are still questions hanging over the future of Toyota and their drivers Glock and Jarno Trulli.

But the encouraging news is that Carroll is still very much in the mix, whether with Manor or one of the other ‘expansion' teams — Campos, USF1 and Lotus — or even an existing team, like Williams who are expected to drop Kuzuki Nakajima (along with Toyota engines) and may lose Rosberg to Brawn.

another day another team rumour for kimi
Toyota continue their pursuit of Raikkonen
Tuesday 20th October 2009

Toyota are continuing in their pursuit of Kimi Raikkonen with team president John Howett revealing that they have offered the Finn a contract for next season.

Raikkonen is without a 2010 race-seat after agreeing to part ways with Ferrari a year earlier than expect, earning the 2007 World Champion a hefty pay-off.

Subsequent rumours have linked him to a possible move to McLaren while Toyota have also expressed an interest. In fact, Howett says they've even put an offer on the table.

"We don't play too many games. We put on the table what we can afford and what we think is a serious offer in the current market," he told Reuters.

"I think genuinely we could work well with him, give him a car that's quick.

"We have had very good relationships with Scandinavian drivers in the rallying times that enjoy life and it works very well, so we could cope with it as a team."

As for existing drivers, Jarno Trulli and Timo Glock, neither driver is assured of a deal for next season. Howett did, however, admit that the team has made Trulli an offer, although they not sure if he will accept.

"With both drivers we are still maintaining a degree of discussion," said Howett.

"We have put an offer on the table with Jarno, I think that he himself is not dissatisfied with the financial offer, the bottom line to some extent is certain issues on the contract and I don't think they are negotiable from our side.

"He may well be in the car next year but it's not at all clear."

Another option available to the team is Kamui Kobayashi, who made his debut in Brazil, replacing the injured Glock.

"I thought he defended well, he retook Jenson," said Howett. "He's fearless and did a good job to get past Fisichella.

"He was a bit off the pace overall but it was very impressive. You have to say we have to give him serious consideration but still pace-wise he was a bit slow so we have to see."

i cant see him going to toyota if he stays in F1 why would a driver of his level go to one of the lower teams when he has 1 of the big teams with a good car snapping at his heels

The opening laps of Sunday’s Brazilian Grand Prix were a busy time for the Interlagos race stewards, with several incidents taking place in close succession. As a result Toyota’s Jarno Trulli, McLaren and their driver Heikki Kovalainen have each been handed penalties.

On the first lap Trulli and Force India’s Adrian Sutil tangled as the Italian attempted a move on the German. After considering video evidence and telemetry data, the stewards decided not to take any further action, labelling the coming together as a racing incident.

But after ‘failing to leave the track as required by the marshals immediately after the incident and aggressively confronting Sutil’, Trulli was found to have breached Article 151 (c) of the 2009 FIA International Sporting Code, which rules against ‘any act prejudicial to the interests of any competition or to the interests of motor sport generally.’ Consequently he was reprimanded and fined US$10,000.

With the safety car deployed for the Trulli-Sutil incident, there was drama in the pit-lane soon after, when Kovalainen exited his pit too early, leaving with his fuel hose still attached to the car. Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen, who was right behind the emerging McLaren, got a face fuel of fuel, which then ignited.

McLaren were fined $50,000 for the unsafe pit stop release, while their Finnish driver was given a drive-through penalty. As this was handed down after the race had finished, 25 seconds were instead added to his race time, dropping him from ninth to 12th in the final results.

An earlier Lap One incident between Kovalainen and Ferrari’s Giancarlo Fisichella, in which the McLaren driver was sent spinning into the Italian after being tagged by Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel, was deemed a racing incident.

Havent heard anything yet, but I do see him reaching a decision this week, he wont play the come and get me game, if he wants to race he'll race, money isnt a problem anymore he has millions (Kimi that is)

i'm glad they got penalties marshalls doing the right thing

Iceman

Another day another rumour:

Toyota Team President John Howett admits that Kimi Raikkonen is unlikely to join the team because the driver is asking for too much money.

Having admitted to approaching the Finn with what they believed to be a "serious offer in the current market", Howett seems resigned to missing out on the former World Champion's service unless he drops his wage demands significantly.

"He gave us back a figure that is much too high," the Briton told Swiss publication Motorsport Aktuell.

"He says he has two options, so we are going to wait," he added.

It is believed that Raikkonen is also in talks with McLaren, the team he spent five years with before joining Ferrari, and that the 30-year-old is requesting 25 million Euros to secure his services.

Donington GP bid looks to be over

Donington Park's hopes of staging the British Grand Prix from 2010 look to be over after the operators' latest fund-raising attempts fell through.

Earlier this month, Donington launched a bond issue in an attempt to raise £135m, but that has now been withdrawn.

Silverstone is ready to step back in if guaranteed the British Grand Prix would remain at the circuit long-term.....

Mercedes motorsport director Norbert Haug has poured cold water over suggestions that McLaren could make a move for newly-crowned World Champion Jenson Button.

British papers reported on Friday that McLaren, backed by sponsor Vodafone, were keen on signing Button so that he could team up with fellow Brit Lewis Hamilton.

However, Haug has dismissed the speculation as nothing but a pipe dream.

"There are no current negotiations with Jenson Button but I do have understanding for the fact that people in England are dreaming of an English team with two World Champions in the cockpits," Haug told German Press Agency dpa.

"However, dreams don't always come true."

toyota news
It is being reported that Toyota have set November 8th as the day they will announce the future of the team. Previously it had been believed that the team would wait until their board meeting in mid November before any announcements would be made, however for whatever reason this has now been brought forward.

The future of the team has been in question for many weeks, with the team under performing throughout the tail end of the season. Toyota wouldn’t be the first casualty either of the big car manufacturer pull outs from Formula 1, with Honda and BMW already out of the game due to the world financial crisis.

Current drivers are also unconfirmed for 2010 seats, with Timo Glock and Jarno Trulli seemingly about to fly the nest, with the Toyota team looking for fresh blood such as the promising Kamui Kobayashi. Team boss John Howett has been positive however, keen to sign new drivers – even looking at the expensive Kimi Raikkonen.

If Toyota were to leave the sport this would free up a space on the grid for another team, which would work out quite nicely for the ex BMW Sauber team, who currently have new owners, but no grid places in 2010.

Update 03/11/09 19:15

It is being reported by Japanese newspaper Mainichi Daily News that the Toyota board have decided to pull out of Formula 1. More soon.

Kimi Raikkonen’s management team visited McLaren’s Technology Centre on Wednesday as guests of Martin Whitmarsh, itv.com/f1 has learned.

Steve and David Robertson were seen in conversation with the McLaren team principal while walking around parts of the squad’s Woking base.

Former world champion Raikkonen has been heavily linked with a return to McLaren since reaching an agreement with Ferrari to end his contract with the team a year early so that it could make room for Fernando Alonso.

But although the Robertsons’ McLaren visit suggests McLaren is indeed making a serious bid to re-sign the Finn after his three-year stint at Ferrari, itv.com/f1 understands that other candidates remain in the running for the seat alongside Lewis Hamilton in 2010.

Raikkonen has made it clear since his Ferrari departure was confirmed that he is only interested in remaining in Formula 1 next year with a team that will give him the chance to challenge for a second world championship.

Amid speculation that disagreements over money had slowed the progress of his initial talks with McLaren, Raikkonen told reporters at the season finale in Abu Dhabi said he wouldn’t be compromising on any deal just to stay on the grid.

"I have options and I still want to be here [in F1], but everything needs to be perfect," Raikkonen said in Abu Dhabi.

"I have no reason to make any contract that I don't feel 100 per cent happy with.”

The 30-year-old has previously hinted that he could take a sabbatical from F1 or switch to the World Rally Championship if he does not secure a drive he is happy with before next season.

Raikkonen has appeared the most likely driver to become Hamilton’s 2010 team-mate for weeks, although Whitmarsh has previously not ruled out the prospect of Heikki Kovalainen retaining his drive despite his disappointing results this year.

The possibility of new world champion Jenson Button joining Hamilton in an all-British line-up has also been mooted with the star yet to agree a new contract at Brawn.

German car giant Mercedes has bought the Brawn Formula 1 team in a move that is likely to see Jenson Button join McLaren as Lewis Hamilton's team-mate.

Mercedes will buy a controlling interest in Brawn, believed to be 75% but is expected to continue as McLaren's engine supplier.

Brawn, who won both world titles in their debut season in 2009, will be rebranded as the Mercedes GP team.

Nico Rosberg will be their lead driver, with Nick Heidfeld his likely partner.

Neither driver has yet been confirmed

its not looking good at the minute for not having button at mclaren its just looking more likely after this news

button is now hamiltons team mate :(

Jenson Button has signed to drive alongside Lewis Hamilton in an all-English line-up at McLaren next season, BBC Sport has learned.

The world champion's move will be announced later on Wednesday.

The confirmation follows news that former world champion Kimi Raikkonen will not race in F1 next year.

The move leaves McLaren with one of the most exciting driver line-ups in F1 and Button facing arguably the toughest challenge of his career.

Button's former team Brawn, who have been taken over by Mercedes, made Button an offer, but the 29-year-old did not consider it acceptable.

His switch means McLaren will be fielding the last two world champions in the same team, Hamilton having won the drivers' title in 2008.

Button's preference for McLaren is not solely to do with money, according to sources. He also believes it is the best option for his career.

After a poor start to the 2009 season, McLaren came back strongly in the second half of the year, while Brawn, after dominating the first third of the season, slipped back in competitiveness as the year went on.

Button's manager Richard Goddard was unavailable for comment.

Brawn emerged from the ashes of the former Honda team, after the Japanese company pulled out of F1 last winter.

Button took a pay cut last winter to help secure the team's future and they went on to win the world championship together in Brawn's debut season.

Now renamed Mercedes Grand Prix, the team have already signed the German Nico Rosberg as one of their drivers.

Formula 1 young driver test is on at the moment.

Paul di Resta did well, looks like. I have watched him in German DTM.

Di Resta impresses in Jerez test

Scotland's Paul di Resta posted the second-quickest time at the end of the first day of Formula 1's young driver test at Jerez in Spain.

The West Lothian driver, 23, vying for a place as Force India's test and reserve driver for the 2010 season, finished behind Spain's Andy Soucek.

Di Resta was eight places ahead of his team rival, American JR Hildebrand.

Englishman Gary Paffett was third in a McLaren, Mike Conway sixth for Mercedes and Oliver Turvey 11th for McLaren.

Di Resta - the cousin of IndyCar Series champion Dario Franchitti - started three days of testing with the Force India team on Tuesday.

"It's a great opportunity and something I have waited a very long time to get a hold of," Di Resta told BBC Scotland earlier this week. "Who knows what the future holds, but my aim is to get into Formula 1."

Lewis Hamilton ended his first day's preparation for the 2010 Formula 1 season with his McLaren lagging behind Felipe Massa's Ferrari.

The Brazilian topped the times for the second day running at the major test at Valencia's Ricardo Tormo circuit.

Hamilton was third fastest behind the Sauber of Japanese Kamui Kobayashi and 0.534 seconds adrift of Massa.

A McLaren spokesman told BBC Sport that Hamilton had said he was happy with the car and testing was going well.

The 25-year-old, world champion in 2008, is due to speak to the media later on Tuesday.

Headline lap times from testing are not necessarily an accurate indication of the pace of the cars, as fuel loads, tyres and track condition can have a dramatic effect on performance.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/8493706.stm

and new points system...

Formula 1 will have a new points system for the 2010 after an agreement between the governing body (FIA) and the teams.

The new system will see places rewarded in a 25-18-15-12-10-8-6-4-2-1 sequence.

F1 bosses believe a seven-point gap between first and second place, rather than the current two-point separation, will promote a 'race-to-win' attitude.

New tyre rules mean drivers must start races on the same tyres they set their grid time in, while 'double diffusers' will be banned from 2011.

Fernando Alonso (ESP) Ferrari F10. Formula One Testing, Day Three, Valencia, Spain, Wednesday 3 February 2010. Fans flock into the grandstands to see Fernando Alonso (ESP) test the Ferrari for the first time. Formula One Testing, Day Three, Valencia, Spain, Wednesday 3 February 2010. Michael Schumacher (GER) Mercedes GP MGP W01. Formula One Testing, Day Three, Valencia, Spain, Wednesday 3 February 2010. Jaime Alguersuari (ESP) Scuderia Toro Rosso STR5. Formula One Testing, Day Three, Valencia, Spain, Wednesday 3 February 2010. Jenson Button (GBR) McLaren MP4/25. Formula One Testing, Day Three, Valencia, Spain, Wednesday 3 February 2010.

If the crowd of thousands that descended on the Valencia track on Wednesday made the trip to the Spanish circuit to watch local hero Fernando Alonso in action in a Ferrari for the first time, then they’ll leave well satisfied.

Not only did Alonso cover 127 laps over the course of the day, but he also topped the timesheets. Clocking a best time of 1m 11.470s, he finished over six tenths of a second ahead of the BMW Sauber of fellow Spaniard Pedro de la Rosa, as this week’s three-day test drew to a close.

Alonso focused on finding the best set-up in the F10 and assessing its handling with various fuel loads. De la Rosa, meanwhile, focused on tyre and set-up work in the C29 and completed 80 laps.

"We are quite satisfied with the first test,” explained BMW Sauber’s technical director, Willy Rampf. “As well as being reliable, it was important to see that the car responded to changes in the way we expected. The drivers' comments on the car basically were in line with that, which also helps the team to work in the right direction."

Mercedes GP took up the third-fastest slot, as Michael Schumacher completed his first full day behind the wheel of the MGP W01. Schumacher spent the morning working on set-up and balance, before switching to long runs in the afternoon. Although a hydraulic problem on the car brought the German’s day to a close one hour early, he covered a total of 82 laps.

"I'm very happy to have been back in a Formula One car this week,” he said. “We had a short run on Monday and then almost a full day today which has been good. The experience has been very positive and the car is running smoothly with just a small hydraulic leak which stopped us slightly early. The main focus is on reliability and doing as many laps as we can so we're not too worried about looking at the lap times right now.

“It's a new challenge and a new experience for me this year but knowing (team principal) Ross (Brawn) so well and working with him again has made it very easy and I feel at home in the team already. I'm feeling fresh and motivated and very positive about the season ahead. I can't wait to be back in the car to continue the programme in Jerez next week."

Just over a tenth slower than Schumacher was Jaime Alguersuari in the Toro Rosso. Alguersuari, who was enjoying his first taste of the STR5 after taking over the cockpit from team mate Sebastien Buemi, completed 97 laps.

“It felt good to complete my first-ever Formula one test session, as last season I was never able to do any testing,” said the Spaniard. “I was able to concentrate on understanding the car, without having to think about it in terms of a race weekend. Personally, I felt much stronger in the car, as I have been training hard in the three months since I last drove in Abu Dhabi. Today was a positive experience and I’m looking forward now to next week in Jerez. It’s too early to say much about the car’s performance, but it felt competitive.”

Also in their 2010 cockpit for the first time was Jenson Button in McLaren’s new MP4-25. Button covered 82 laps as he made his way to fifth in the times. Although his best was a full 1.5 seconds down on Alonso’s quickest time, the British team were well satisfied with how the day progressed, as Button ran a series of longer runs to find the right balance and set-up.

Sixth fastest was Formula One racing’s first-ever Russian driver, Vitaly Petrov, who made his debut for Renault and completed 75 laps in the French team’s R30.

“I really enjoyed my first day in the car and everything went well,” said the 25 year-old. “The car is very impressive compared with a GP2 car and I enjoyed experiencing the power and braking performance. After about 30 laps I was starting to feel comfortable and understanding the limits of the car. It was also my first chance to work with my engineers and so far everything is going really well so I'm happy with the day."

Wednesday’s final runner was fellow newcomer Nico Hulkenberg, who finished in seventh for Williams. Hulkenberg enjoyed a busy session, covering 126 laps.

“We worked on putting as much mileage as we could on the FW32 and achieved over 500 kilometres at the end of the day, bringing us to a test total of 1,213.5 kms,” said Williams’ technical director, Sam Michael. “We spent the three days working on set-up and long runs; the main systems on the car are proving reliable and are cooling sufficiently. There are the inevitable minor teething problems to resolve between now and Jerez, but it's been good to get out on track and start work with our new engine partner, Cosworth.”

The teams will be back in action from 10 February as next week’s four-day session gets underway at the Spanish circuit of Jerez.

Unofficial Wednesday test times from Valencia:
1. Fernando Alonso, Ferrari, 1:11.470, 127 Laps
2. Pedro de la Rosa, BMW Sauber, 1:12.094, 80 Laps
3. Michael Schumacher, Mercedes GP, 1:12.438, 82 Laps
4. Jaime Alguersuari, Toro Rosso, 1:12.576, 97 Laps
5. Jenson Button, McLaren, 1:12.951, 82 Laps
6. Vitaly Petrov, Renault, 1:13.097, 75 Laps
7. Nico Hulkenberg, Williams, 1:13.669, 126 Laps

LONDON – Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone has told the Sunday Express newspaper that F1 regulations allow teams to miss up to three races without penalty and that, as a result, the Campos and USF1 teams are unlikely to make the grid for the season opener in Bahrain.

Eccleston told the newspaper that the two teams need time to find more secure funding.

Ecclestone was quoted as saying: "I think we won't see (the Spanish team) Campos and I don't think we will see the Americans."

He said that his terms allow any team to miss up to three races. This could lead to a patchwork starting grid, with some of F1's 13 teams coming and going, depending on whether they can afford to race.

If fewer than eight teams turn up for a race, the F1 Group may also have to pay hefty fines for breaching its contract with the governing body that grants it the commercial rights to the sport.

A team based in Serbia is ready to take the position of any that drop out and is planning to buy the assets of Toyota's moribund team. Ecclestone said.

"They have got the money from the Serbian government, I'vespoken to the prime minister."

Honda, BMW and Toyota have pulled out of the sport.

A new car, a new team, new conditions, so our first goal has to be to make the car reliable. Days like that one today help massively in that respect - especially as the weather forecast for the next days aren't quite so rosy. I feel very comfortable driving the car, it was good fun today."

The reffueling thing I dont think is gonna benefit Michael Schumacher that much. As a matter of fact, I think it will be to the disadvantage of most Aggressive drivers like him. Schumacher likes to go real fast for as long as possible and brake hard at the last possible moment, thats why he is so good in drivers circuits like Monaco. And since the cars are gonna be a lot heavier, I think he will wear out his tires quicker than the less aggressive drivers. Just my theory of course, but we'll see if I am right.

Will be doing a sweepstake for the F1 season soon enough.....keep an eye out for it....

Iceman
06-03-2010, 12:52 AM
Right i think i have an addiction to these sweepstake things.....

First off a sweepstake is a random draw, completely random so you CANT choose who you want.

Ive decided to take only 12 applicants to make it fair so that someone doesnt get stuck with the likes of Sebastian Buemi or worse Jenson Button.....

Will do a Draw tomorrow!

(Last sweepstake I promise)

Doing it that way means you could have more possible slots in the game as there are 196 combinations of drivers from the 2 pots.
