Luis Suarez has once again spoken about the racism charge that was brought against him, this time he spoke to 'Russia Today' whilst in Moscow with the Uruguay national team.
"The suspension, I suppose, you could call strange and unbelievable.''
"Without a single shred of proof, they suspended me. I accepted it without saying anything obviously because they could have made the suspension longer a...nd it would have just made the whole thing continue, but my conscience is completely calm, and so is that of the club and my family.
"There was not a single convincing proof that I had done any of the things they accused me of doing. I am very calm about all of it. I have played all my childhood and everyone knows that in Uruguay there is a huge black population. I had team-mates and friends of both colours all the time in the national team, in Liverpool, in Holland, where the majority are from Surinam, and I never had any problem with them.
"Holland is one of the countries in the world where there is the highest number of black players and at no point was there an issue. Well, these are the things about football. It seems to me that they had to get rid of a Liverpool player and, well, they definitely were gratified by all of this."
Suarez added: "What the English press has said about me does not interest me. What interests me is what they say about me in Uruguay and in Liverpool, and they have always been very supportive.
"After the suspension was confirmed, I was told that the fans would taunt me, they would whistle me, insult me and shout at me, but to be honest it is not something I was worried about or paid attention to. Everyone whistled me in all of the stadiums I played in all the time anyway, even before the allegation of racism. It was just the same. I tried to pay it as little attention as possible to focus on what I like to do, which is to play."
He is such a great guy :worship:

Of course, the British press. Clarke Carlisle, Jason Roberts and all the other people who made a name for themselves off the back of the allegations, will all rush out in force to attack him again.

Not happy but not too disappointed, it really doesn't make any sense at all though. If we don't get off to a good start in the league then I dread to think where this club will be in a years time.

Seriously depressing. AVB or Rafa would have been brilliant. Instead we get another bottom of the league manager. It doesn't make any sense.
If we have another shocking transfer window as well... dreading the next couple of seasons. The owners intentions are great, but this appointment might mean yet another season wasted. So unbelievably frustrating, especially when you look at where we were 3 years ago.
I suppose he's shown he's got some managerial potential and might end up doing well but I think it's a big risk for someone who's still quite new to management, has saving Wigan from relegation as the peak of his career and was only ever an average player himself (suppose that's true of a lot of managers though)

I think you're giving FSG too much credit. I don't think their intentions are great. I think they want to cause themselves the least amount of hassle, and someone like Rafa who would challenge them on any broken promises, isn't what they want.
I also think it's more about costs and saving money. They know Martinez gets a young player in and then sells him for a profit. He's made more than he's spent at Wigan, by £10m.
I think they''ve reached the point Randy Lerner got to, when he realised he didn't have the money to get them into the top table, and once any team is away from the top table, then you can reduce investment.
They're bull**** merchants in my opinion. But I really hope I'm wrong.
Who are Wigan gonna replace Martinez with, Chris Hughton maybe?

Difference isn't the money. It's CL. As long as you're in it, you can chase/sign almost anyone (bar the obvious Messi, Ronaldo etc.). Had Chelsea not won against Bayern, things would've been a lot different in terms of transfers.

You don't get anywhere near that. It looks like a figure that means that's what the cl could potentially be worth. Chelsea's wages still take up far too high a percentage of their revenue, and they cannot bank on winning the CL every year. There is no way that Chelsea are working within the parameters of FFP. WHat it shows, is that they're not worried about FFP, so unless UEFA grow some balls, then clubs will continue to take the piss out of them.

Think the figures are a little wrong. Henderson cost £13m rising to £16m, not the £20m you see reported in the press continually.
That said, we ****ed up massively. There seemed like a desperation to get players in rather than saving the money and getting the right players in.
The way we ended the season before last was based on the movement of Suarez, Maxi and Kuyt. We just didn't build on that, and replaced them with poorer versions and expected better results.

Roman was pushing for FFP, because he wanted to stop richer men (like the city lot) coming in and knocking him further down, and for the last few years, he's been tightening his belt, but since January 2011, no club in world football has spent anywhere near as much.

It's not Uzminov's club, though, is it? He's said that if he was in charge, he would spend his money, and I believe him. Arsenal are set up to be an absolute giant in the next 10 years, their revenues will enable them to be one of the biggest spenders in line with FFP. They are paying their stadium off rather than chasing fantasy players. When they are sorted, they will compete with anyone.

He is the second biggest stakeholder after Stan Kroenke.
Arsenal are right to think in the long term, although some of their fans are getting frustrated with Wenger thinking that 3rd or fourth place is acceptable because they obviously want to be competing for the title.
It saddens me that the likes of Chelsea and City have these young kids in their academies who will probably never get a chance with them, waste of all that talent.
Jesus.

2nd biggest doesn't give you the freedom though. It's one thing investing when you own the club, but it's another throwing money at someone else's club. You'd have to be crazy to help Kroenke invest, when he's his rival for ownership.

Don't want Holt ever near this club. He's 31, probably wants a 2-3 year contract. He's use to being the main man which he won't be here, Bent will be, and we'll probably play 1 up top alot
and judging by his ''statement'' on Norwich he's not very proffessional, right instead of write, use instead of you..and basically I think he's been very disrespectful to Norwich who made him who he is today, if it wasn't for them he'd still be at Shrewsbury (you could say the same for Lambert but at least he hasn't wrote some ****ty statement on twitter)

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned it yet, but pretty big news regarding Cardiff City - the shirt was officially changed today from the original blue to red because of the sponsors. Now, I'm seeing this in two ways. On one hand, it's extremely sad that the team colors that i've loved for years are going to be changed. On the other hand, although it had nothing to do with the decision, red is afterall the national colour of Wales. So there are pros and cons. It's weird to see the red kit though!

You should all jump aboard the Tranmere Train, a play off challenge coming next season
