Last night got 1.51m. It beat the night before by 10k and replaced it and now is the highest HL rating since Week 2.
Nice to know that it's picking up again, maybe because now the Outsiders are fighting back and not getting picked off one by one.

DS ratings were being slow, and still are. Tuesdays have been released...
It got 1.33m excluding +1, incl +1 would be around 1.40m for sure, which would mean it was on par with last Tuesday and up on 2 Tuesdays ago.
Last night not yet released. But it shows that 9pm does better as the last 2 9pm episodes got 1.50m and 1.51m. Last night would have been also 1.4m I feel, as will tonight.

Those figures are great for hotel inspector and ncis, makes big bros look okay ay best, but with shows like Pierre white, bachelor and many others flopping badly, bb will be safe imo. 1.5mil is still very good for 5, add in officials it will fetch around 2mil. Next summer should rate better in any case, the first real break from bb for at least 6months or so, hopefully 5 will advertise it much more. I hope the current ratings are good enough.
Sound rating last night though.

It was 1.25m incl +1. It's dropping. But not dropping drastically low. But it's obvious, I think this is due to Conor staying. 1.51m tuned into the eviction (and that could be excl +1), so maybe the hope he would go? The announcement was watched by 1.9m in those 10 mins, shows the audience is still there, but Conor needs to go.

No. They only factor in overnights and recordings. +1, repeats and demand 5 are separate, we add the former in ourselves afterwords. Though Channel 5 will probably add them all in themselves internally when they decide how well it's doing.

So what are the current official and overnight series averages?
http://www.barb.co.uk/about/faq
What is the difference between live and consolidated BARB data?
‘Live’ data reports viewing that takes place at the time of the original broadcast.
'Consolidated’ data incorporates playback of time-shifted content within 7 days of the original broadcast. This timeshift viewing is added to the live data to produce consolidated viewing data made available 8 days after the original transmission date. Consolidated data is the 'BARB Gold Standard' used by the industry to report and trade on.
What is the BARB Gold Standard?
BARB Gold Standard data generally refers to the consolidated data which incorporates live and timeshift viewing and is the official estimate of television viewing. However, any audience measure that has been generated by applying the BARB defined calculation methodology is BARB Gold Standard data. BARB Gold Standard data is used by the industry to report and trade on.
What is VOSDAL data?
VOSDAL stands for Viewing-On-Same-Day-As-Live. VOSDAL viewing includes timeshift viewing viewed on the same day as the original broadcast. This is included in the overnight files released at 9.30am the following day. For example, if a film commences at 5.30pm and is recorded and then viewed later the same evening at 9.00pm, this viewing is captured and reported in the overnight file published the following day.
What happens if you playback programmes from PVRs like Sky+? Is this included?
Yes, non-live viewing from PVRs like Sky+ and other recording devices such as DVDRs are measured and included in the viewing figures as timeshift viewing. If a programme has been viewed on the same day as the original broadcast the viewing will be included in the overnight files as VOSDAL data (see ‘What is VOSDAL data?’), otherwise, if it has been viewed in the 7 days after the original broadcast it will be included in the consolidated data.
How many channels are BARB reported?
At present there are over 250 channels that are separately measured and reported. A comprehensive list of BARB reported channels (excluding interactive channels) can be found on the multi-channel weekly viewing summary.
Is every television channel that can be viewed in the UK measured?
Yes, every broadcast channel that can be viewed in the UK is measured but only those channels that a broadcaster requests to be measured are reported individually. All other channels are grouped together with their viewing combined and reported as ‘Other Viewing’ which contributes towards ‘Total Viewing’.

Im so dissapointed that the figures have fallen because in the 1st 2 weeks the official figures were almost cracking 2 million, think the series could end on a 1.5 average if it carries on like this.
Week 4 I think: (unaware if these are incl +1)
Saturday- 1.74m
Sunday- 1.83m
Monday- 1.98m
Tuesday- 1.74m
Wednesday- 1.72m
Thursday- 1.84m
Friday (Lydia evicted)- 1.92m
Week 5 officials. Only first 3 include +1, all the rest are EXCLUDING:
Saturday- 1.49m (including +1)
Sunday- 1.74m (including +1)
Monday- 1.81m (including +1)
Tuesday- 1.69m
Wednesday- 1.81m
Thursday- 1.51m
Friday (1)- 1.84m (Becky and Deana safe)
Friday (2)- 1.48m (Arron evicted)
Excluding +1 the week was the highest Week 2 average wise. With +1 counted for the rest, I predict the weekly average would be around the 1.85m mark. Week 5 boosted the entire series average after a blip, bringing it up to 1.9m again.
That Friday first show, along with Wednesday would have come painfully close to 2m. Friday's show no doubt would have rounded up to 2m
For the show to fall to an official of 1.5m, it would need to drop to around 1.2m officials, and around 900k overnights every night. Doubt it, but with the outrage anything is possible

Friday in general was a bad night for TV. A lot of shows recorded below average ratings.
For BB on Friday EXCLUDING +1
1.35m and I have to say it looks very bad... 922k for the interview. However it got a high % share because of the time. The BB +1 will be around 1.4m and 1m for the 2nd show, 120k down on Shiv's eviction.
They better wish for an insider up. Otherwise the ratings will be down still. To be honest, I think 1.4m for the 9pm show is impressive considering how bad this week has been.
The ratings for BB are no concern to Channel 5 considering the "massive" show Superstar on ITV is only getting 2.7m. I think ITV should be more worried.

I don't think the 9pm rating is that bad... around 1.45m incl +1, surprised that many people stayed tbh. Yeah, I reckon last night would have been very low. It will rise when insiders start going, but that won't happen. So we will have to get used to these ratings. But CBB, that will survive. If they got rid of BB and then just had 1 series a year for CBB and advertised it, would probably get 3m+.

1.35 is bad for an eviction, even 1.45.
Honestly cant see CBB doing that great either seeing as its coming off the back of a 10 week run of normal BB.
Reckon it will be the lowest rated CBB in history.
This series has been so good its annoying people are turning off.
Less than 1 million for an eviction interview is embaressing.

1.45m would make it average for an eviction. 4th out of 7 evictions. So just average. Next week will be the lowest rated, it's up against the Opening Ceremony. It will be sub 1m for the show (it's only on at 9pm, there is no 11pm show). 1m for the 11pm show, yeah it's a poor rating, however it was 3rd in it's slot.
I think CBB ratings are quite unpredictable. It depends if the public like the "celebs" in there. They would need a celeb headline grabber. For example, it was Tara Reid and Jedward in CBB8, Frankie in CBB9. CBB9 averaged 2.6m, I reckon CBB10 can do the same (but that would still make it the lowest). Butin general, CBB9 did better in the second half. CBB8 dropped during it's run and ended with 3.2m (a drop of 2.1m), however CBB9 started with a low 3.6m and ended with 3.4m (just a 200k drop). And Pantsgate got 3.1m. So if they get good celebrities, and it's up to CBB9 standards (which IMO is the 2nd best CBB behind CBB4)

There is a 11pm show, it's listed on channel5.com/schedule.

Double checked them with BARB, they're correct.
They're not as bad as everyone makes out. We've got to remember that Big Brother is just another show now, and it's nothing special. We knew when Channel 5 took the show over that we weren't going to get the ratings Channel 4 had back in 2008 at least.
Big Brother 11 only averaged at 3.0 million at a push. We're guaranteed another civilian series for 2013 and for 2014, it was in the deal Channel 5 signed. Endemol won't give Channel 5 Celebrity Big Brother without Big Brother. So we don't have to worry about it until Big Brother 15 in 2014.

Yep. Pretty much all the shows enter Ch5 Top 10 of the week. Normally 6 out of 7. With only NCIS higher.
The ratings are unpredictable because most people dont have the time to watch the show every night for 10 weeks. Those times have gone. The ratings would be far higher if the number of HL shows per week were reduced to say 4 on set days.

You have a tendency to get very overdramatic. This is not the last series, C5 has already signed a contract for 2 more. Clearly they were satisfied enough with BB12's "poor" ratings to want to order two more regular series after BB13. Given the fact that this year's ratings are significantly up (minus this week) from last year, I doubt they are considering canceling it.

Finally, someone who is thinking the same as me. If last years 1.6 million is enough for them, then this is going to be more than enough! Channel 5 are keeping the civilian series, they've ordered another two series. This years average will be 1.8/1.9 which is up, and Channel 5 will be happy. If they wanted to cancel normal BB, they would have done it last year.

Exactly! CBB costs millions to put on and is only justified because of the higher ratings, regular BB is much cheaper to put on, although it runs for longer, they probably make more money from regular BB.

Expected though. Everything was down because of the weather last night. A lot of low rated shows this week because of that. Also BB was up against Eastenders which got just under 8m, Ab Fab which returned with almost 6m and Superstar (which has flopped though). Everything else was significantly down. Channel 4 only had 1 show over 1m. Eastenders was a live episode so I am sure that is like 7m down on last times live episode which got like 14m.

Ok i'm gonna say this for the final time.
Show me the article that states the regular series will 100% return because i have seen no proof, just forum members assuming that just because they renewed the contract for the format that Channel 5 have to run another 2 series of normal and CBB.
Yes they have renewed the contract but i have seen no written proof that they have to run both.
Can you please post me the article which you obviously saw with your own eyes and not just heard on a forum and then we can have this argument about me being over dramatic.
To the people saying this year will average 1.9 you are mistaken. The ratings over the last 2 weeks have put an end to that. Mondays only just scraped over a million and that was including +1.

A rating of under 1 million will not bring the whole average of the series down btw. Wait for the officials before you start jumping to conclusions. And Channel 5 have paid for the contract which gives them CBB for 2013 and 2014, and BB for 2013 and 2014. If BB12s ratings were a big enough incentive to order more regular series, why would BB13s higher ratings change their minds? Yes, its been a rough week or two, but BB13 is still rating higher than BB12.
Where are you getting these ratings from? :conf:

BB12 was the first BB on Channel 5 so obviously they would have another afterwards to really judge how it was performing.
People are not willing to accept the fact that the ratings the last couple of weeks have been the poorest in the history of the show.
If you honestly think that weeks of it just scraping a million wont bring down the overall average then you are mistaken.
With the olympics starting on Friday its only going to hinder ratings even more.
And yes i pooed the bed, screamed with delight then rolled around in it.
Can you please post the link that specifically says they have to run both the regular series and CBB? Ive asked a million times so people who arguing this can back up the claim but noone seems to have it. They have extended the contract yes but that may not mean they are obligated to run both.
So, link to your facts please :)

Post a link saying that CH5 can go back on their contract willy nilly. Its signed, BB14 and 15 is happening. And clearly 1.6 million for BB12 was enough for CH5 to get 3 more series, so a series with higher ratings will be fine in their books.

And you have no idea what you are on about either, funny how you keep on bringing up bad ratings but fail to mention high points, like Sundays 1.4 million. Up to week five, this series is officially averaging 1.92 million viewers. With week six and seven in mind, yes it may be brought down, but this series has been doing brilliant when it comes to officials. TV in general has lost viewers over the past few days due to the whether, thats a fact. Most shows have lost viewers, so stop over dramatising. And where on earth is there a document claiming that CBB but not BB is on for another two years? Yes, the past few days have been down on last years figures, but the first 5-6 weeks have been up. Channel 5 can today announce that they have signed a new two-year deal with Initial, an Endemol company, for exclusive rights to broadcast Big Brother until the end of 2014.

As ive said and others on DS have also said, Channel 5 may decide to just air extra CBB's instead if the regular series keeps barley scraping a million nightly.
Jaroddaniel hasnt laid it out to me at all. that link does not prove anything other than the format has been renwewed.

You're forgetting the main point. C5 signed the contract with Endemol obviously with the INTENTION of airing two more BB series. Now, given the fact that this contract was signed after BB12, obviously C5 was satisfied enough with BB12's seemingly "poor" ratings to intend to air two more. Considering BB13's ratings average is still higher than BB12, we can pretty much assume C5 is still satisfied with the ratings and has no intentions of canceling it.

Exactly BB is cheaper to run than CBB; they have also recently signed deals with Morrisons and Scwarzkopf and BB has boosted their ad revenue. BB brings in an official audience of about 1.8m every night for 70 days to a Channel that is used to half of this figure. CBB has higher ratings, granted the use of Celebrities but BB is still the main show and will be on for 2 more years ok.

I asked for evidence of Channel 5 saying flat out that BB was confirmned and CBB and you statement/link does not say that.
All you have given me are assumptions like everyone else in here.
Noone here knows if regular bb will return next year or if we will just be getting longer stints of Winter and Summer BB which for Channel 5 would guarantee ratings.
Yes the officials as reported 2 weeks ago where higher than BB12 but **** me these last 2 weeks have been terrible and are loosing out to last years overnights at the same point.
Again look up the word "fact".
You're assuming and second guessing Channel 5. not actually providing me with factual evidence. That quote from the Channel 5 statement was to vague for you to even judge what they are planning to do with our beloved summer BB.
My original post about this was coz i feared for the regular summer series returning looking at the ratings dipping below 1 million even on weeknights now.

They have BOTH been renewed! MEANING they WILL return!
Face it! They're coming back! Why are you complaining anyway if you watch it?! Channel 5 have renewed the show, it's returning for Next Year and the year after. End of subject.
Well just show me evidence of how you know they are both returning coz that link you gave me does not say that at all.
Can you not get what im saying?
If this is the case and i think it is then we are in danger of Channel 5 just running CBB from now on.
You have showed me no link to a story that specifically says both version will return and thats what im saying.

What i'm saying is, C5 signed a contract that gave them the rights to air Big Brother for 2 more years. That can be clearly seen in link the jarroddaniel1 posted. Clearly, they wouldn't have signed the contract if they weren't satisfied with BB12's ratings and they intended to air two more years of Big Brother (notice how they say Big Brother, and not Celebrity Big Brother). Given this information, it's pretty clear that Big Brother is in no danger of being axed, which is the main point I was trying to make. You said Big Brother was in danger of being axed, and I said it wasn't. I have backed it up with factual evidence why I think that, what more do you want? The press release is as close to confirmation that BB will be on for 2 more years as you can get. C5 would not have signed the contract if they did not intend to air 2 more years of Big Brother. Period. End of. They claimed the rights to airing it so no other channel could, because they WANT to air it.
And again, i'm re-iterating the fact that BB13's ratings average is STILL higher than BB12's.

But you dont know, you're just saying its "likely" Big Brothers main show will come back so its not fact and neither is it confirmed in that Channel 5 statement. so all these objections being thrown at me just for even contemplating that the regular show may be cancelled dut to the ratings decline are not very upstanding since you know nothing of the future of the main show (that article doesnt say anywhere about the main show, it just says the rights to air big brother).
Unless you work at Channel 5 then we will have to wait till next summer to find out but im betting it wont return unless we have a massive ratings boost now.
Fingers crossed.
Finally, yes Big Brother has been renewed that is a fact and is great :)
But cant people on here not centemplate that the channel may axe regular BB seeing as its now floppin in the ratings nightly. No article anyone has shown me talks about both the series 100% returning till 2014, just the rights to air the BB format.
Just to confirm in not saying Big Brother as a show is in danger of being cancelled but the main summer series is in danger of being dropped to make way for a longer run of 2 CBB's a year.
Alot of people on DS are discussing this and it was brought up there once the ratings decline was no more undoubtable and the members on DS can actually consider this as a possible option, on here seems like people are just scanning my posts quickly, picking out statements and not reading the full story then attacking..
And AGAIN let me reitterate that i have agreed BB officials are currently beatin BB12 but that was 2 weeks ago and we are still waiting for officials to see how its holding up now, my guess is its around 1.6/7 now down from 1.9 but this is the lowest rated week since its began, overnights for the past 2 weeks have been down on BB12.
2 weeks of ratings clinging to the 1.2 mark and weekly shows and evictions getting under 1 million is going to drag this official average down.
Can you not understand this is my opinion and im here to discuss the future of the regular series and have then been bombarded with links "proving" both shows are returning when in actual fact no links have said anything about both shows coming back, Channel 5 can decide to run CBB from now on instead but you people who have posted the links fail to ackowledge this and the facts you are presenting to me is just you doing exactly what im doing and second guessing.
Thing is im honest that this is my opinion of what i think may happen and you're addament that you are 100% in the right and know that Channel 5 will definatley bring back both shows.
Guess you sit in on board meetings at the Channel 5 offices.

The officials have been adding around 400k so it does make a big difference for BB. The officials have not been shown for Ch5 which sucks this week. But it's still around 200k above BB12.
Tomorrow night, it will suffer badly. I repeat to all those... it will DO BADLY. So when we get awful ratings for Friday, don't act like BB is over. Everything will fail so hard on at 9pm tomorrow. The Olympics opening will attract an average of over 20m, possibly a peak of 25m in my opinion. BB will get less than half a million.

BB averaged 1.25m last night excluding +1, including +1 it would have been around 1.33m I would guess. Highest rated show since Sunday. It was only around 400k lower than ITV's Quiz show which flopped. BB was up against the GB footie which peaked at 6.2m. Not bad considering everything got a low rating.
Tonight it will be very low but promising that last night was the highest of the week, just a shame tonight will be the lowest ever rating.

http://www.entertainmentwise.com/news/82935/Caroline-Wharrams-Big-Brother-Eviction-Struggles-Against-Olympics-Opening-Ceremony
But the Olympics got 27 million views, so BB did good considering the circumstances.
800,000 was the peak audience

647k is not bad at all, around 200k higher than I expected.
Million Pound Drop got 272K, nearly beat that by 3x  BB beta everything on Channel 4 from 7pm onwards and beat most of what was on BBC2 and almost ITV.
Olympics peaked at 27m and almost 90% share

Big Brother peaked at 800k according to The Sun journalist Leigh Holmwood: https://twitter.com/leighholmwood/status/229139168582832128
Who gives a **** about the peak i want the actual ratings lol ;)
The shares look promising at least.
As long as it beats BBC2 and Channel 4 i'll be happy.

Just a question, would it have got 657k on C4?
Possibly but considering MPD has beaten BB for weeks now, BB beat MPD last night by triple. Shows that BB has obviously a more dedicated fan base.

The +1 was only 42k or something and the 657K includes +1. +1 wouldn't have been over 50k for anything because the Olympics didn't end until way past midnight.
One thing, the Olympics peak was the highest ever TV rating since Princess Diana's funeral in 1997.
According to Twitter, everyone is catching up on BB now, it would have time shifted around 1m I reckon!

I wish Demand5 would show how many viewers an episode gets in the way youtube does and i wish they would release the viewing figures for the daytime repeats.
Its the only way we could know what it truly got.
What do you think the final officials will be? Due to the last coupla weeks low ratings and now this i think its going to slip below BB12's.

Surely week 6's officials should have been released by now?
Can you post the officials so far coz i dont trust wiki.

I doubt last night will have a effect for the rest of the series. It's too close to the final to have people give up.
And the officials for Week 6 were never released. BARB updated but Channel 5 didn't and neither did a lot of multichannels. We will find out all the officials when it's finished.
Possibly but considering MPD has beaten BB for weeks now, BB beat MPD last night by triple. Shows that BB has obviously a more dedicated fan base.
Absolutely and that's definitely something Channel 5 will be glad to have. I can't imagine any other C5 show getting that amount of viewers against such tough competition - they surely wouldn't have finished in third place without BB, even The Hotel Inspector and CSI would have struggled.
Just a shame Channel 5 doesn't reward that dedicated fan base with a live feed ;)

I think 600,000 is very good considering you're going up against the opening of the biggest event of 2012... so I'm happy enough with that, and I bet most have catched up online or with it being recorded anyway, so I'm not overly bothered.

29-07-2012, 09:50 AM
So it got 1 million last night?
Jake.
29-07-2012, 09:58 AM
Yup, it was against the 6.3 million (31.2%share) who watched the Olympics, The Women on CH4 which took 1.6 million (8.3%), Midsomer Murders which grabbed 2.3 million (10.7%) and Nine Symphonies Which Changed the World which was viewed by 400,000 with a 2.3% share. 1 million is respectable for a Saturday night, its the highest in a while isnt it?

Lets hope the coming weeks get a boost and keep that series average up now.

Ok remember when i was saying that the low figures would kill the series average and other members were saying it would hardly affect it as BB13 is is averaging 1.9 million?
Take a look at these figures.
Week 6 averaged: 1.32
Week 7 averaged: 1.19
Week 8 is unofficially averaging 1.0
Running average for the series: 1.59
Dont take these as 100% accurate but it seems about right.
Jake.
30-07-2012, 12:30 PM
That week 8 isnt official though, so it should go back up a little bit.
Jake.
30-07-2012, 01:44 PM
1.14 (5%) and 159,000 (0.8%) on +1
