Bandusia

I went with "Mrs. Stone", but Spring of Bandusia will do it.

http://i.imgur.com/H3E7EEn.png

Yes as was sussed out these are words that can proceed "Summer of", "Autumn of", "Winter of" and "Spring of", respectively. A lot of you got close to a correct answer but it had to fulfill the exact pattern, of which Shaun's was the first to do so, so 2 points to Shaun.

At the end of the sequences round:

Livia = 12
Shaun = 11
Ammi = 3
GiRTh = 2
Everyone else = 0

First of two walls upcoming!

That being all there is left, is also a group :D (Famous sheep)

I'm going to give Marc a point as for a while I believed I'd screwed him over with "Aries", and if it was a sheep or not, so to clear my conscience, you get a point, Marc.

So on tonight's grand final of series 8, the final question in the Connections round looked strangely familiar...

http://i.imgur.com/G2zoLGA.png

Now where oh where have I seen this before? (http://www.thisisbigbrother.com/forums/showpost.php?p=6194861&postcount=356)

COINCIDENCE? I THINK NOT!

Just so we're clear, I like to pretend that the production team are stealing questions from me (This is clearly not the case, it just so happens they write questions that are a bit similar to one I have written and then I get all giddy because I know the question I wrote must've been okay).

So it's the end of the quiz, and looking at the scores...

GiRTh only answered once, but it was on what I suspected to be one of the most difficult questions of the game, enough to secure him 2 points.

We have Jords and Kate, both scoring on the walls and unscrumpling the missing vowels to pluck out 4 a piece (and amazingly, Kate's answer of "Doggy. Sexual positions! Wut???????" had nothing to do with it!)

Marc, determined as ever, shone in my little round of homophones and picked up a respectable 5 points, bridging the gap to our top 3.

Picking up the bronze in this quiz, with a score of 14 is our previous victor Ammi! It wasn't enough to take the win this time but still very well done, consistency from start to finish secured you a podium finish :D

Taking the silver this time is the first lady of Only Connect on TiBB herself, Livia finished with a brilliant 15 points. Brilliant and sharp as always, her knowledge of Friends characters and Malcolm in the Middle shot her to 2nd place, and her sexual deviancy proved once again an invaluable aid. She also scored what must be the most impressive five pointer I've ever seen, "David Cooke's signature", unbelievable. Very well done for yet another medal position, Livia :)

But, beating Livia to the punch on quite a few questions proved the key to success here, as with a whopping 21 points the winner of this edition of Only Connect is Shaun! Eurovision translations, the Spring of Bandusia and Dolly the Sheep were all mere stepping stones to the plinth of victory, as he takes the crown from Ammi. Many congratulations, you proved determined for victory and you managed to pick apart my logic rather brilliantly, congratulations!

It's just a bit of a shame none of you know more about IKEA, really.

Shaun = 21
Livia = 15
Ammi = 14
Marc = 5
Kate = 4
Jords = 4
GiRTh = 2
Everyone else = 0

But what's this, ladies and gents? A paradigm shift is occurring!

THE GREAT OC LEADERBOARD

Shaun: 50
Livia: 48
Ammi: 39
GiRTh: 32
Marc: 28
*Kate*: 23

Jords : 4
Everyone Else: 0

Shaun has overtaken Livia as our new highest scoring player! With only 2 points in it, will Livia come back feistier than ever and strike Shaun down? Will Shaun continue his Icarus-like flight ever higher? Will you all continue to waste time attempting to solve my ridiculous whimsical puzzles?

Only time will tell, my friends.

Thank you all you playing :D

What's this? My trove of tricky trivial trials has re-opened and is willing to take you all on a quizzical quest once more. The questions are just as tricky, just as ridiculous and just as nonsensical as before, and as always all you have to do to win is correctly find the connections between apparently random clues.

It's all to play for as we start round one, where things usually start. In this round I want the link between four clues, standard procedure. Without too many theatrics then, let's get things started!

Question 1 starts a little something like this:

I'm going to anyway... swearing. 1 is the sound that bleeps swearing, the others are used to express oaths or swear words.

Go on then, I'll let you have it since I've been hard on you so many times before :P

http://i.imgur.com/2NqRa1C.png

As you said there, a 1 kilohertz sine wave is the famous "Bleep" noise you'll have no doubt heard many a time on various talk shows. "Zounds!" is a famous replacement word used instead of swearing, which means "God's wounds". Grawlixes are the series of symbols you'll see a comic character using (e.g. $£@*&!), and pixelation, quite simply, covers bits people aren't supposed to see. 2 points to you, Livia, which squares you up with Shaun!

Onto question 2, had this one in the oven for a while, what connects them? :

Maybe I'm slipping again. Yes, with just one clue you're right yet again Livia, bagging you 5 points. Carlisle Civil Servants were once asked to pretend they were answering machines, horse_ebooks was a twitter account people believed to be random generated strings of words but was really being controlled by an actual person. The Chinese Room is a thought experiment in which someone acts as if they were a computer translating English to Chinese, and AWESOMEO 4000 is the robot Cartman pretends to be in South Park. Incredibly impressive.

Onto question 3, these are going to be picture clues, what connects these four images? Here is the first:

We have Ben Cohen, the famous first half of Ben & Jerry's. There there is Steve Wilkos, who got his start on the Jerry Springer show, who is followed by Kramer, friends with Jerry Seinfeld in Seinfeld, and of course, Tom Cat who isn't quite as friendly with Jerry Mouse.
