Hm possibly, but then again when I think of all the potential story lines they could explore it winds up leading back to magic (Coven) or something weird and involving surgery or gore (Asylum). Heroes did a circus vibe really poorly too and I can't help but feel that AHS will wind up meandering down a similar path.

I love those ideas though! Hopefully the writers'll do that!

The fact that it left all it's stories right till the last 4 or 5 episodes and it all felt rushed, the season needed to be a 20 to 25 episode season to be able to solve most of the mysteries properly, Bloodyface was the story they resolved well in Asylum imo.

well i certainly can't disagree that it should be a proper 20-24 episode season. But cable shows unfortunately always have much shorter seasons. the Soprano's used to only give us 10 episodes, and then even take a year off in-between. Homeland also is way too short.

Unfortunately you must sacrifice quantity for quality. AHS always has so many characters that it does feel like it moves too quickly and you never get to enjoy every character as much as you'd like. Sometimes you barely see a character for weeks at a time because they are focusing on the other story lines.

Perhaps they should move to a more Lost-esque method, where each episode tries to focus on just one character for the entire episode... i feel they flirt with that idea, but it does feel a bit disjointed the way you can have 1 character really focused on in episode 3, but then not hear anything about that character again for 5 episodes...

It really is the kind of show that is best watched in a box set way. Total binge-watch material. I watched Asylum in binge-watch mode watched the first 6 in one sitting, then the second 6 in 1 sitting. and i loved it. I watched Coven in real time, and i found it less enjoyable.

Freak shows were pretty horrific if you check out the history on them. people with physical and mental disabilities were horribly exploited and tortured back then... Disowned by their families, and rejected by society, often they had no where else to turn to to survive, so they were basically slaves to the Ring Leaders. Stuck in that dehumanizing and miserable existence.

I think it could be a pretty amazing season if done properly.

Would be nice to see a heavier male presence in this season. While this is one show that has a fantastic range of actresses this season really needs a lot of men and diverse characters so it doesn't become Coven Pt.2. I don't think I'm a fan of the title either. Carnival or Circus would have been fine... it's like they saw the fan posters and went "oh no we cannot name it Circus or Carnival as it looks like we're copying fans". But that's just a little nitpick.

yeah but i can see a lot of comedy in this. like the last season. with freaky people and sillyness,which will probably be about a family of freaks doing dodgy things rather than a true horror story.

Season four of the series, subtitled Freak Show, is set in Jupiter, Fla., in the 1950s, with Jessica Lange in the lead role. The Emmy winner will portray a German expat managing one of the last remaining freak shows in the country. Amge, 20, is the world's smallest living woman, according to the Guinness Book of World Records. She earned the title on her 18th birthday with a height of 2 feet, 0.6 inches. According to Wikipedia, her limited height is because of a growth anomaly called achondroplasia.
The AHS role marks Amge's latest tour in Hollywood. She was featured in a 2009 documentary, Body Shock: Two Foot High Teen, and was a guest on Bigg Boss 6, an Indian Big Brother-like TV competition show.
Amge joins recent addition Patti LaBelle on AHS: Freak Show. The former will have a four-episode arc, playing the mother to Sidibe's character. AHS: Freak Show debuts in October; a specific date has not yet been announced.

but c'mon, season 3 was pretty awesome. kathy bates being a racist slave owner, then just a disembodied head being forced to watch Roots and the Obama inauguration...that was cool and hilarious.

For me 2 was the best then 1, 3 started out really promising but it lost it's way very quickly, there was too much going on that didn't have a lot of significance to the story I thought.....like the Minotaur raping the fat black chick :laugh:

S3 didn't really have much of a plot aside from the next supreme, and that was a really weak theme imo, i didn't care who it was, they resolved the battle between witches and voodoo far too quickly, it should have lasted the whole season, probably should have been the main plot too

Yeah, I think they concentrated too much in making "comedy scenes" rather than developing a good plot

i know what you mean, but from her perspective it was horror. you seeing from your perspective, but from her perspective seeing the world change so much, and being confronted with a new world where black people's suffering is validated was a horror to her.

sometimes history is so horrific, we are desensitized to it because we are so used to it, but to her character it was a true horror to see a black man as president.

It did happen. The flashback was back to when Lana first met Jude (just as they were walking down to see Bloodyface enter the building). Jude was basically foreshadowing the whole events of Asylum.

Sister Jude: "I do hope you know what you are in for. The loneliness, the heartbreak, the sacrifice you will face as a woman with a dream on her own."
Lana: "You don't have any idea of what I'm capable of."
Sister Jude: "Well, then, look at you, Ms. Lana Banana. Just remember if you look in the face of evil, evil's gonna look right back at you."

Judge was basically warning her, if you poke your nose into this evil place (the Asylum), you will become evil yourself and face loneliness, heartbreak and sacrifices.

Jude was right too, that's what Lana faced because she poked her nose in. She became rich out of it. But she had to murder her own son. She sacrificed her career for a dream of 'exposing' Briarcliff and she became very lonely. Jude pretty much foreshadowed everything before Lana experienced it.

I hope that makes sense. It took me a while to get my head around it. :laugh:
