Im sure BB1/BB2 were launched in July and finished in September.
Why couldn't they launch in July theres no reason not to.
BB1 launched in July.
People are used to it starting May/June though
Jamesy
15-06-2014, 07:23 PM
If it started in July though the show would finish in October (accounting for the summer CBB), then 3 months later CBB would be back again. Overkill much?
Last night could have been a lot lot worse so that's something. Might hit a million tonight. *sigh.*

Who in their right minds would watch BB over an England WC game anyway?
I watched BB on Sky+ at about 2am in the morning.
It's going to be same for me for this WC, i'm afraid.

BB12/13 only had a handful of under 1 million their whole series and weve had about 4 in the space of 10 days.
It rating worse than BB12/13/14.
This is the lowest rated BB to date and that is a fact.
finally someone who understands

I'm asking myself this, people seem to be oblivious and completely ignoring the fact we're against the World Cup that had a 79% share last night.

Do ratings take into account live streaming. Because of where I live, we don't always get Channel 5 because of the transmission. In fact, we didn't have Channel 5 until 2011 (lucky, when you consider two weeks before BB started we finally got the channel) so I watch a lot of BB on TV Catchup and TV Player to ensure I don't miss a second, do they take into account third party viewing like this in figures?

They take it into account and then add it to the overnight figure as an official roughly a week later.

Everyone shouldn't get too worried, I think with the officials it won't be the lowest rated series in my personal opinion.

Yes, perfect set of HMS for this theme. The only cast that would have been better for this theme would be BB6's.
Saturdays episode actually got 1.2 rounded up with the +1 figure
782k (4%), with 336k (1.7%)

A decent climb
Yeah at least it climbed! The France match got 8m so its not like there was poorer competition. They really missed a trick tonight, they should have aired it at 9pm, Iran/Nigeria are playing, and that looks to be by far the lowest rated match on primetime of the WC, so BB would have done decently. But it's on at 10pm against the final of Game of Thrones! (people may think it's not competition but it has been nearing the 1m mark every week on a multichannel).
3rd in its slot too, beating Fargo on Ch4 and Wildfires 2004 on BBC2. ITV was only 1m higher than Ch5 also.

Poor, but they were facing massive World Cup matches. Includes +1 unless it says it doesn't.
Wednesday- 1.20m excluding +1
Thursday- 1.03m
Friday (1)- 990,000
Friday (2)- 960,000
Saturday- 782,000 excluding +1

I get what you mean but what I mean so far it for sure will be the lowest in primetime (the evening kick off) because the Brazil opening match, Spain match on Friday, Costa Rica (same group as England) on Saturday and France game last night... I will be very shocked if tonight beats any of those four primetime matches.

Channel 5 - Sunday night
- Illegal Immigrant and Proud brought in 647k (3.0%) at 8pm (101k/0.4%
- Big Brother: Power Trip with 1.1m (5.0%) at 9pm (147k/0.8%).

The ratings so far, overnights stand at:
THUR - 2.03
FRI - 1.65
SAT - 0.95
SUN - 1.50
MON - 1.22
TUE - 1.30
WED - 1.20
THUR - 1.03
FRI - 0.88
SAT - 0.78
SUN - 1.25
With all this considered, there's only been three days with ratings below the million mark, which I think is very respectable considering the competition and bad press this series is getting!

The show so far has averaged 1.15 million viewers, not the best but hey, just 0.45 away from beating BB12 and BB13 and that's with their official ratings! I'm starting to think the overnights will be on par with last series, and hopefully officials will be closer to 1.8/1.9, which would be great!
It really isn't that bad considering. Last night was 1.25? That's should hit about 1.5 or so with officials so we are there and abouts on par with last year, give or take a few ****ing football matches :cloud:
I hate football. Sooner England lose the better for us :joker:

It came 3rd in its slot last night. Fargo got 1.1m on CH4 and BBC2 got 1.2m. ITV was at 2.2m, so everything is struggling against the football.

ITV- 2.2m
CH5- 1.3m

CH4- 1.1m

This is why people have overreacted with saying that BB will be cancelled. I'm pretty sure Ch5 are over the moon by the fact that like 5/7 nights in the week, they beat Ch4 with BB.
The only threat BB has with Ch4 is One Born Every Minute (as its an ongoing series), all the other Ch4 shows that sometimes beat BB are one off series or one off documentaries. During CBB13, Ch5 was beating Ch4 quite impressively nightly.
Jake.

Are you counting +1 for the other channels as well though, or just for Big Brother?
Iran vs Nigeria will get less viewers than all the other games that have kicked off at 8 so far, so if it'll be interesting to see if it still struggles to cross 1m viewers or not.

LOL @ C4 crying about ratings loss.

I think a lot of people know its on Ch5 now, judging by the CBB ratings in January where Lee's eviction for 3.6m and the final got 3.7m... ratings which were beating BB10 and BB11 on Ch4 (and a few BB9 ones too). So either CBB had a lot of returning viewers or a lot of newer viewers.
The last week of CBB13 really justified Ch5, and probably **** Ch4 up. These were the final officials of CBB13... starting with a Saturday... 2.61m, 3.63m, 3.49m, 3.41m and 3.71m.
C4 should never of axed it imo BB11 got better ratings than most of what some of there shows get today, I bet they wish they didn't axe it now

Last summer it got 2.3m, probably around the same as summer CBB does worse than winter ones...
CBB8- 2.80m (summer but was the first on Ch5)
CBB9- 2.6m (winter)
CBB10- 2.2m (summer)
CBB11- 2.81m (winter)
CBB12- 2.32m (summer)
CBB13- 3.04m (winter)

Bar the first CBB series, it seems every summer series is boosted 100K and every winter series by 200K, thats very promising for the channel, particularly considering the belief by many the it's 'flogging a dead horse'.. I just think it's one of those shows you moan about and don't wish to admit to, but in fact, so many do. I mean like 3 million watched Lee get evicted in the last series. 3 MILLION. That's crazy numbers firstly for such an old show, and secondly on a channel that can barely hit 1 mil without the two shows!

Officials are in! Includes +1
Launch (1)- 2.43m *2.13m
Launch (2)- 1.96m *1.64m
Saturday- 1.46m *952k
Sunday- 1.92m *1.50m
* overnight rating
So as launches add less, we should be looking at timeshifts for Sat and Sunday, which here it is around 400k, so with more watching the World Cup I expect next weeks officials to add onto ~500k!
omg these are great :amazed:
Jamesy

Those are great! If these keep up the only thing we need is a decent series average to guarantee the show's survival.

So this is how the ratings fare compared with last series in terms of the first four days official ratings. The most recent series (BB15) is the one at the top.
2.43m
1.96m
1.46m
1.92m
2.35m
2.40m
1.68m
1.90m
The first four days of official BB15 ratings stands at 1.95 million viewers.
The first four days of official BB14 ratings stood at 2.08 million viewers.
So in terms of officials, although very early, there's only a drop of 80,000 on the last series. In my books, that is excellent!

C5 got just over 2m for the Benefit program at 9pm! Could be good news for Big Brother?
ITV only managed fifth place at 9pm with #TheDentists drawing just 1.74m/7.6%. BBC2, C4 and C5 were all just over 2m.

I watched the Benefots show, it was good! I saw several adverts for Big Brother between it too (however I actually couldn't understand what was said.. Subtitles were definitely needed and it wasn't even a good highlight, mark was just in his bed talking to Ash) but hey ho, hopefully that'll not make people stray! I reckon another fairly good rating, maybe 1.2-1.3

That's true, it got 2.2m! Those shows always do so well for some reason, Benefit Street was getting 5m officials I think on Ch4!
But with BB, we are looking at around 1.4m incl +1 which is good considering. Highest since the first Sunday, and good for 10pm. Dan, use your powers and demand the +1 on those pesky rating pages on Twitter :p

So did it get 1.4 Million with +1 then, that's not bad

C5 got just over 2m for the Benefit program at 9pm! Could be good news for Big Brother?
ITV only managed fifth place at 9pm with #TheDentists drawing just 1.74m/7.6%. BBC2, C4 and C5 were all just over 2m.
That benefits programme was great

2 million watched Benefits show?
So 600,000 tuned out when BB came on.
Is this not proof that people finally are choosing not to watch BB? The audience was there it should have been a good lead in.
Im not being negative so shut your mouths lol im just stating the drop off after such an impressive rating for the benefits programme.
The benefits show is a first is a NEW series, big brother has been around for 14 years so its understandable surely. Plus Benefits Street got nearly 7 million viewers at one point which is obviously what channel 5 was trying to copy so if anything that benefits show should have gotten more viewers.

I think this series is shaping up to be a good one. It is a shame that the ratings do not reflect that. The power housemate and the paranoia that surrounds who it is and the friction is causing is creating good television.

So around 1.2m incl +1 then, it's only around 100k down on BB14 overnights. Looks like we are going to be missing the 10pm ratings with +1 just like last year, how annoying!
We won't get a proper rating with +1 until Friday as that's on at 9pm! So looks like we need to wait for the officials to judge properly, no idea why the ratings releasing is so bad this year for all shows!
Kai Anders
18-06-2014, 11:14 AM
I imagine it's do with the competition for the lack of +1 details. I find on adams they tend to really shorten their ratings article to like 1-3 shows per channel. Most of the time it's not even representative of what people watch or want to find out! The share is still good for its late slot, I reckon a 7.2 - 7.5% share with +1 included as so many less will be watching from 11-12 due to work the next day etc. So hopefully that proves high for official ratings too!m
Also looking forward to see ratings for the farm task, I think it's excellently and as Iain 2 said on BOTS, most tweets couldn't be read out as they were all about the task and not the days events! So that bodes well!

1.3m excl +1. Another +1 ratings missing!! Arghh, but with +1 it's around 1.4m which is great I think for 10pm. Now, both Monday's show and last night's show has got ~1.4m
This is around 100k-150k up on last Wednesday's rating I think.
To compare, Channel 5 came 3rd in its slot.
BBC1- 8.0m for the match, 2m for 10:35pm show.
ITV- 1.9m for Benidorm repeat and 1.9m for Croatia match at 10:30pm
Ch5- 1.3m excl +1 for BB
BBC2- 681k excl +1 for Episodes
CH4- 665k excl +1 for My Last Summer.

We are still in group stages until around this time next week. So teams can draw. So it will certainly be over by 9:55pm at the latest (and that's if they put 5 mins of extra time at the end) because the match after 90 mins should finish at 9:50pm.

Agreed. Hoping that when officials come in, they will be high enough to feature in the BARB CH5+1 Top 10, table. But they probably won't which is what happened to like a quarter of BB14 +1 ratings!
We should demand the actual ratings from Twitter, I don't know why they stopped releasing them since the world cup.

These excl +1 AND ROUNDED figures are really grinding my gears. We have no idea how the show is actually doing properly! A lot of people are also annoyed at the lack of +1 and the rounded up ratings.
Eg, last night could have been either 1.25m-1.34m excl +1, but we don't know as it was rounded to 1.3m.
So far this week we have had...
1.3m, 1.1m and 1.3m all excluding +1. So these could have been 1.4m, 1.2m and 1.4m, but would love to know what it was to a decimal place!
Tonight, the England match finishing 5-10 mins before BB starts, shouldn't damage it at all.
*mazedsalv**

Should be noted that even without +1, BB beat last years 2nd Weds episode equivalent which got 1.20m (6.8%).

1.2m excl +1, so around 1.3m including. Week on week growth. Last Thursday got 1.03m incl +1.
I think we can expect around 1.50m for the eviction tonight seeing as the past week we have gotten 1.3m-1.4m? Everything was down whilst the footie was on... the football averaged 18.5m and peaked at over 20m!
On BBC Two, Nature's Weirdest Events interested 747,000 (2.8%) at 8pm, followed by Fostering and Me with 737k (2.6%) at 9pm. Mock the Week amused 1.3m (6.4%) at 10pm.
Channel 4's Amazing Spaces appealed to 836k (3.2%) at 8pm (124k/0.4% on +1). Grand Designs brought in 509k (1.8%) at 9pm (194k/1.1%).
Channel 5's Trauma Doctors gathered 657k (2.3%) at 9pm (118k/0.7%), while Big Brother: Power Trip entertained 1.2m (6.4%) at 10pm.
On E4, The Big Bang Theory tickled 740k (2.9%) at 8pm (232k/0.8%), followed by How I Met Your Mother with 383k (1.4%) at 8.30pm (103k/0.4%).

That's an excellent rating! Considering 18 million were likely still in World Cup fever! It beat C4, BBC Two and nearly BBC One too, their 9pm slot was just 2 million against BBs possible 1.4 if +1 was included!
I pray for a day the show beats BBC One. It's almost never likely to happen but imagine how peoples views are likely to change, it would do wonders for word of mouth advertisement!
I predict 1.4 tonight, so much happier it's all in one show.. And I can completely skip Stand By Your Man! :cheer2:
Wow it actually did brilliantly last night! I expected half of the viewers to be out finding people from Uruguay to beat up.. :idc:

I just wrote this is another thread about ratings, and although this ratings thread gets nowhere near the same amount of negative nancies as others, I thought it would be important to show the regular viewers to this thread why Big Brother ratings are fine, as there are still many who believe it's ratings are dire and the show will be cancelled.. which of course it is highly unlikely, though depending on Viacom's decisions in the near future.
'BB ratings are fine!!
The officials are pretty much level with the first officials of last series, with a difference of only around 80,000. Remember, we're still in week 2 and this is possibly the most competitive season of TV with the world cup.. yesterday the show attracted 1.3 million, if you include +1, +24, HD, Live Streaming on the app and third party sites, Demand 5, Lunchtime repeats and 5* repeats, it's pretty much certain that figure will grow several hundred thousand...
It's very pessimistic to assume BB will finish because of a week of low ratings, what do you expect, I'm certain the producers are aware of this, otherwise they'd wait a week or two to air it until smaller matches in the World Cup begin. Channel 5 put BB in direct competition otherwise the channel would quite literally be obliterated, and even so.. the episodes are attracting near enough the same numbers as they would without the World Cup.. it's still making a good profit for the channel and it's still well above the average percentage share, in most cases it's almost DOUBLE!
Face it, BB doesn't aquire the ratings it used to of 3 or 4 million, granted it struggles to hit 1.5 nowadays, but what everybody seems to forget is the target audience. It's targeted at YOUTH. And in advertisement, YOUTH targets are the most important as they are the most who are more likely to spend disposable income on their products. Therefore it works out much better than many other channels, such as ITV and Channel 4, whose target market at the 9-10pm slot is typically somewhat older than 15-30s age range.
It's the channel's flagship programming and each year the ratings improve. Civillian BB continues to grow at a rate of near 100,000 new viewers each series, meanwhile CBB is attracting near 200,000 (minus the summer series, which due to low ratings often dip more than the winter editions, but are still vastly improving in ratings)
BB is a staple of Channel 5, British TV and British culture and there will always be a targetable market to make money. If ratings are poor, the producers will find ways around it, such as in this series, simple changes such as removing the news section and sweaty Box on BOTS and making the house design more simple, using commerical items, not one off, designer products.
BB is hear to stay, ratings yes are low at the moment but it still regularly hits Channel 5's most watched shows of the week, typically 6 out of 7 days.. furthermore, it's almost always rated at 3rd out of the main 5 channels, something which Channel 5 almost certainly never did before it acquired the show.
BB14 OVERNIGHTS / FIRST WEEK
2.1m, 2.1m, 1.3m, 1.5m, 1.5m, 1.4m, 1.3m, 1.3m, 1.8m (1.6 AVERAGE)
BB15 OVERNIGHTS / FIRST WEEK
2.1m, 1.6m, 1.0m, 1.5m, 1.2m, 1.3m, 1.2m, 1.0m, 1.0m (1.3 AVERAGE)
(Just to point out.. the Second week of BB14 had a reduction in ratings, meanwhile the current series, BB15 has had an increase in ratings in its second week)
BB14 OVERNIGHTS / SECOND WEEK AVERAGE - 1.3M
BB15 OVERNIGHTS / SECOND WEEK AVERAGE - 1.2M
CURRENT OFFICIAL - BB15 is only 80,000 viewers down on BB14 in terms of viewers (in it's first week), thus suggesting that although less are watching, far more are catching up in other areas besides the main broadcast show, this is incredibly good news as it further suggests this year's audience is slightly larger, despite the decrease in viewers as more are watching in other areas.
(Lets also bare in mind that BB12 and BB13 often struggled to even hit 1.2m-1.4m)
(Lets also bare in mind, ratings change so randomly, it's hardly a problem, remember the Daley Hazel episode, overnight data showed 1.7 million watched overnight, the highest of any highlights show on C5, all down to good advertisement and word of mouth)
Sorry this is so long to read, but I got awfully fed up of the bad news surrounding ratings. It's true, but not to the extent of cancellation, now if anybody can be bothered to read this MASSIVE post, I acknowledge you dearly!
Rant officially over!'

Those figures you posted there is where these bad articles are coming from. There is a difference of 400,000 on average and that first eviction being 800,000 viewers down doesn't help.
I do agree when people say viewing habits have changed though and that's why the overnights are poor. I think the first Sunday of BB15 got 1.9 in officials if im right which is promising for the rest of the series.
Just waiting on those next officials so we can make a proper judgement.

Firstly it's a difference of around 290,000 if you want to be entirely specific and yes the first eviction was down some 800,000. But remember, BB14 had NO sporting event competiton, the fact that the eviction still garnered 1.0m this series with sporting competition of the likes of some 10 million, that's very good considering!
It's also worth noting the first week of officials
BB14 OFFICIALS WEEK 1
2.3m, 2.4m, 1.7m, 1.9m
BB15 OFFICIALS WEEK 1
2.3m, 1.8m, 1.3m, 1.7m
These ratings are still fairly solid when you consider Saturday shows are always way lower and this series has so much sporting competition, taking a large proportion of its target audience. I also stated that BB14 decreased in viewers quite some way on it's second week, whilst the current BB15 has increased slightly (OVERNIGHTS) so it's highly likely that both BB14 and BB15 will average similarly, i believe, with officials holding a change of some 100,000. It certainly won't be as poor as 1.6 million for BB12 and BB13, as even in it's first 4 days, it was above the 1.6m mark for officials, and as I have said, ratings for the second week have improved.. so it'll easily beat those ratings.
I understand it's hard to state where ratings will go after the second week, but in all honesty, it's not going to be terrible. As I keep stating, it's the NO.1 show on C5. It's got TONS of competition AND this year's series has had far more of a backlash from viewers than the previous as people, although loving the theme are disinterested in the HMs, so in my eyes the somewhat lower ratings are completely justified. There is no need to worry or fret.

According to digital spy:
The 2014 FIFA World Cup continued with France vs Switzerland between 7.30pm and 10.15pm on ITV. The game, which France won 5-2, was seen by an average audience of 3.34 million (17.9%).
Where did you get that rating from? Even if it did get 4.41 that's still not big competition.
Also 8 out of 10 cats beat BB with 1.18 (5.9%) at 9pm.
No excuses for last night.

Everything wasn't down.
3.82 million (19.4%) for Celebrity Masterchef at 8.30pm.
The Graham Norton Show secured an evening high of 4.29 million viewers (30.3%)
Over on BBC Two, Antiques Road Trip was seen by 1.57 million
Gardeners' World entertained 1.56 million (8.2%)
8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown was Channel 4's highest-rated show of the evening, pulling in 1.18 million (5.9%) at 9pm
These shows were all on from 7:30 onwards to 10:35 so there was a lot of people watching tv last night.

A 5.6% share isn't too bad. The share is pretty much on par with other episodes.
Please can we stop this ratings are poor stuff.. they're poor in your opinion. Just because they are lower than 2013 does not automatically mean they are 'poor'. The producers and C5 will be the ones who decide whether they are poor, satisfactory or good.

I think they've added the +1 rating to that then but that would be a hell of a +1 figure. Then again it is ITV.
Its still not a great rating as that tweet says so wasn't really much competition for BB or other shows which did well against it.

Yes we can judge but what we judge is our opinion. It is not fact as many people seem to try and make it out as (not aiming this at you btw, being general). For all we know the producers and C5 are happy with the ratings and see no problems... or they're having regular panic meetings trying to find a way of not losing the show.
This constant bickering between people that think ratings are poor and people that think ratings are good is quite tedious to see. It's like neither side can accept people have different views... which is inevitable on a forum.
Oh yes I know you're not talking about the show being axed. I was just being general about this forum as a whole since quite a few people are not happy with ratings lol.
Anyway I'm neutral about the ratings, I think they're steady and good, but I'm not jumping out my seat like I was for BB14's ratings. I think it'll be 50/50 whether these ratings affect the show being renewed or not.

Big Brother got 1.25 million viewers and a 6.4% share in total. That's still fairly good. Officials could bump it up to 1.5 or 1.6 but we should remember, it's hot. On Fridays people are likely to be out more, World Cup fever may have impacted that. Imagine all those viewers who decided to stay out after the game, we should also take into account that although some 4 million were watching the World Cup on TV a hell of a lot will be watching it through socialising e.g. Pubs, clubs, parties. So I'd estimate the rating closer to 5 million in fact. It does appear that Friday ratings will continue to be low, perhaps this is the new trend, nonetheless the rating is not poor it is still fair. It's above the million mark and is over Channel 5s annual 3.9% share, so is still making a healthy return profit. Stop with all the negativity. Peace out

It also came 4th in the timeslot, it was narrowly beaten by C4.. But let's be honest, they are two very distinct audience markets. 8OOTC is more male based, BB is more female based.

Seriously though where did you get the 1.25 from because no one can seem to find the plus 1 figures and its annoying the hell out of us lol. BB could be rating far higher than we realise and its not getting reported.

Yes but remember its hot, the world cup is on (lowest rated game last night and not competition), maybe people went out to the pub, its Friday night, maybe people were tired, maybe a lot of women were having babies.
Its allways been on on a Friday night and its allways been in the summer.
C'mon people face facts.
I do however think +1 will add a significant amount and bump the ratings up but then again I think an overnight rating is far more important to the channel.
Its only now really im starting to see how important the ratings are this year as we haven't heard anything of it being renewed. I thought the news would have come out by now.
So is 1.25 the +1 I'm confused

With the plus 1 I think yeah but no one has posted a source as to where they got this +1 figure from.
I hope its true, even though that would still be lower than we all expected it still looks a hell of a lot better than just over a million.
Officials will be released Monday so we will finally be able to see how popular the show is online and with catchup. The figures are usually impressive and will bring a sigh of relief to those who are afraid of the show being axed.
Fingers crossed.

My fear is that Channel 5 do not want the show any more - they are making very little effort to improve the ratings, especially when the contract is up for renewal. It seems as if they do not care whether or not it is a success. Getting rid of the two hours of daily live feed was a blow to the devoted hardcore fans and the housemate selection was dreadful.

If there's a link to show the ratings are higher then why not post we all wanna see the actual ones seeing as DS aren't publishing plus 1 its making the show look like its flopping when in reality it may not be.

When I posted it I actually thought for the first time people would come to their senses and acknowledge it was a poor rating but still its excuse after excuse.

the excuse is that the show is nowhere near as good as the previous c5 civilian series. so the ratings are lower. they wont climb much either as the weeks draw on and the show becomes somewhat more boring.
they must be itching to get started on CBB

I don't understand. Unless the +1 figure was 300k+, I am disappointed. It doesn't make sense that two nights this week got 1.4m, and the eviction gets 1.09m? There must be something iffy about that surely. The France match had the lowest rating for a WC game at that time so we can't blame that either. I'm confused.
I can't defend it, the +1 would have to have been large. Something odd for sure with last nights rating.
Edit- Wait, what? So it was 1.25m incl?

I'm hoping for uplifts of half a million as the first few days got 400k uplift.
The rating was **** for the eviction not even gonna lie but I'm thinking the weather may be a contributing reason? it's been roasting hot here, not sure if it's the same elsewhere but people may be choosing to sit out in the sun/go to garden parties instead of staying in to watch tv.
It's on at 9pm and against the football tonight too.
I suppose a good thing is the ratings were awful the first week and ch5 released a statement saying they were happy with them
I wonder if because BB is something that you have to be completely dedicated to to watch it all the way through, people didn't bother from the start as they would rather watch the World Cup?

People are quite invested with the footie and the weather has been amazing (lots of people were doing barbeques around where I live last night). So either of those could be affecting figures. I think the launch shows put a lot of people off too (even I was going to switch off quickly). Given the first few days were hardly engaging TV that has no doubt impacted a lot on this series viewers.
I'm holding out for more officials to come out before a final judgement yet. The ratings aren't great and down 200-600k from last year although they have stayed steadily around the 1 million mark which shows there is a dedicated audience still (might be easy to say BB is a cult show these days).
If officials for this eviction and the previous episodes are crap then I'll be very concerned. I'm sitting on the fence for now though.

But is still doesn't make sense. It's not like people jave dropped the series because of the footie because it got two ratings of 1.4m in the week, so to fall to 1.1m has nothing to do with people not watching because of the matches, but something else. Maybe the +1 rating was very large or maybe the officials will be huge for last night?

Officials have been released earlier than usual:
05/06 - 2.43m (10.8%)
06/06 - 1.96m (9.4%)
07/06 - 1.46m (6.3%)
08/06 - 1.92m (7.7%)
09/06 - 1.61m (6.1%) and 1.44m (7.5%)
10/06 - 1.84m (9.8%)
11/06 - 1.65m (9.3%)
12/06 - 1.37m (6.1%)
13/06 - 1.37m (5.4%) and 1.34m (7.9%)
Yes, there may be some that look low, but those last 3 ratings all were sub 1m in overnights because of the start of the World Cup, so there was a climb of 400k. The ratings we should be looking at is the 1.84m and the 1.65m, those were similar in the overnights to what all this week got (Monday-Thursday), so we should be expecting overnights of 1.6-1.9m for the officials for the last few days.

With those figures in place we currently have a 1.67 average and a 7.84% average share
Is the share based on overnights or officials, as I imagine it's hard to tell what official average share's are? I'm guessing they would exclude demand 5 viewing as this can't really apply?
Anyway, That's very strong considering the bad publicity regarding ratings. So it's about on par with the first two C5 series, which although were the lowest on record, I feel are still good, especially when you consider both BBC Two, C4 and C5 often struggle to hit past the 1.5m mark due to the complexity of TV viewing habits these days!
And a share of nearly 8% is good too, particularly when you compare the CBB series, whose lowest whole rating has been 9.4% (CBB10) and it's highest has been 10.8% share (CBB13) and when you compare the share of 8.1% for BB14!

The share average os from the official shares posted
thanks!
Looking at those charts the ratings for this series aren't that bad then^^ especially not when you factor in that they have been up against the football a lot of the time.

That's really useful. Thanks for posting!
When you compare it to previous years it's not all that bad than. Still a minor drop on the whole but not the end of the world.

That's very useful, BB12 and BB13 sank throughout the run, especially BB13, jesus! Olympics!! BB13 started very strongly! Whereas BB14 climbed throughout its run. Lets hope for no fall like BB12 and BB13 and hope for a climb like last year as BB14 did.
BB14 official by week averages.
1.91m, 1.69m, 1.68m, 1.75m, 1.87m (Daley ejection week), 1.86m, 1.86m, 1.81m, 1.73m.
Or better, rise like CBB13!
2.99m, 2.90m, 3.02m, 3.37m.

Well it cant afford to drop any further really can it!
This year is just annoying though, just when it looks like its climbing it drops again.
Its the cock tease of BB ratings.
BB12 actually done well to get 1.6 million especially since +1 didn't exist back then.
When does this world ****ing cup end?

Lol, Dan, we still have a lot of time, it finishes in like 3 weeks :p It's still in the first stage, Eng are already out though.
Completely agree with you though, when it got two 1.4m this week, I thought, come on! And then the eviction got 1.1m excl +1 and I thought, WTF.
When does this world ****ing cup end?
I looked it up 13 July it ends, it doesn't clash with an eviction this week but it does next week
If CBB wasn't there in august, they should of started it on the 18th July but with Summer CBB, Big brother would drag to October

I thought England were back in after accusations about some referee scam?
Anyway if not do you think the ratings will be that big? The last few games have only been about 4 million since England shat their pants haven't they?

I said that aswell they should have started BB in July.
It would have given the viewers a well earned break but they have to fit in another final celeb one on this contract aswell don't they.
Love your sig btw :)

It would be cool to have BB in winter, early January to Mid March, and then have a CBB in March time ending early April, then in September again if they were to carry on with 2 CBB a year.

this will be the lowest rated BB. im pretty certain of that.
but it has been the worst BB so far on channel 5 (so far!), so its not like the audience are missing much.

you're welcome! I think the viewable audience is still where it should be, I just suspect some people are watching less of the shows e.g. Some last year could be watching all 7 shows each week, this year perhaps they're watching 4-5.. as it could explain the good retention in viewers and then sudden drops too!
