Sorry to whoever normally makes this but I was bored.
You know the drill peeps. What do we predict launch night is going to get? I'm gonna say higher than last year, but not by much. Maybe 2.9?
Will.
01-06-2014, 09:10 AM
I recon 2.5 overnight and 2.7/8 official. Then for part 2 maybe 2.7 overnight and 2.9 official. However I'm not sure about calling it 'Power' because secrets and lies had quite bad ratings and that changed its named to 'secrets and lies' and if look at BB 13 and 12 they had better ratings, and neither ch had different names. So maybe if BB 15 was called 'Big Brother 15: Live Launch' it would have better ratings.

You made a launch night predication thread not a ratings thread
imo we have had promo so far and with the success of the CBB13 final and new people watching, 3 Million or 2.9 Million with a peak of 3.2 Million

2.6
Mid 2 million mark, possibly getting closer to the 3 million mark but I doubt it. However, I'm willing to accept a lower mark to 2 million, but I doubt that because of the amount of advertising.
I think people are going too low, BB14 was the highest rated BB on C5 and CBB13 final got amazing ratings and with all this promo so far it could get 3 million

I couldn't believe it when BB14 launched with 2.35 million and then 2.40 million whilst BB12/13 both launched to 2.93 million.
With all the promo of Emma taking over and a new theme ect I was expecting 3 million.
Im predicting 2.2 million launch 1.8 average but we could be surprised and ratings could climb like BB14 did and we could finally get a 2 million+ average.

It launched low last year because there was hardly no promo

Last year had a lot of buzz around it and it was highly publisized that Emma was taking over she was on BBC Radio 1 talking about it and in various other interviews including This Morning/Loose Women.
I think last year the launch actually got 2.2 overnight?
It had a lot more promo than people think.

The reason BB13 got higher imo was it was advertised on different channels and I feel that since they have done this, this year it will be much higher people are just going low because of BB14 launch ratings, I feel it could peak with 3 Million this year

The first episode of the latest series had 2.1 million viewers (9.95% of the total audience share for 9pm) -overnight
2.35 official
Note the second launch had a lower overnight by 20,000 but actually got a 2.4 official

This year ratings are more important seeing as Viacom have taken over we all need the show to do well so they renew it.
I love BB Launch but I always dread checking the ratings thread the next day.
Im starting to think a 1.9/2.1 launch they haven't done any interviews with radio1/loose women/this morning or anything really at all this week.
Really makes me appreciate how good promo was for BB12.

I wouldn't say that. A ratings of 1.9 is only 200,000 down from last years first launch.
200,000 is not a big margin especially when BB14 launch was down by about 500,000 from BB13.
Thank **** people saw sense and carried on watching or it could have been doomed.

For CBB in January to be beating CBB6 which was 5 years (half a decade) ago was highly impressive and shows people still love watching BB its average was literally 100.000 behind it and and that's only because of the launch figure Channel 4 got.
I don't think we can judge launch night for the normal series against the CBB in January though as sad as it is more and more people are saying "I don't watch the normal one but I love the celeb version".
BUT I have read a lot of stupid Twitter users and mail online readers comments like "Cant wait for BB I wonder which celebs are going in?!?!"
ALOT lol so they may contribute accidentally.

I think this years BB will carry on the success:
We have had a full interview on the paul o'grady show they talked about big brother for about 10 min, we've had a front page cover on the one off the TV magazines last Saturday, and about every magazine had information on BB last weekend, today Rylan talked about big brother on this morning for a bit, BB advets on other channels the normal online promo with the mail online etc
Other thing that's new this year that a lot of people haven't noticed is that they upload the main advert on the main BB channel and it has around 70,000 views and it's going up. Like Germyle said Emma profile has grown a lot
and we have got a lot of new viewers since BB14 & CBB13 more people have been watching.

Really I didn't know Rylan mentioned it . Do people still read magazines though? lol don't get me wrong I love seeing BB on the front pages and when BB14 made front page of the sun last year I was orgasming.
Saying all this if I wasn't a forum member the promo has been so little that I don't think I would even know it was starting.
I have seen 1 bb advert this year and 1 eye flash.
I think social media is a ratings saviour for BB these days as it starts trending early in the day then gets people talking and when their timelines are full of BB tweets then its pretty obvious BB is back.
But yeah you're right about the growing success but last year didn't really have any competition either. God damn world cup why don't they just cancel it lol.
Social media does help a lot I agree, I think it will still beat C4 tommorow tbh, and I think C5 know that BB isn't going to beat the World Cup anyday so it doesn't matter
I still think Viacom will keep BB there's no other C5 show that gets talked about then Big brother

Promotion means nothing considering CBB13 got bascially 0 promotion and yet launch was strong and overall series was highest on C5.
2.0 million for the first
2.0 million for the second
If something happens like Casey/Lee/Jasmine love triangle or Hazel and Daley safehouse gate then the viewing figures will increase if not overall it will be around 1.5 million overall
I have a good felling, when did BB start trending

According to Tellymix, the first launch last night averaged 2.1 million viewers. This is identical to last years Secrets and Lies launch. It also because the second most watched channel in the 9pm slot, only being beaten by BBC One!
Good to know the ratings are still holding up fair..
In case you wondered, the Ryan Giggs documentary gained 1.7 million viewers on ITV and the comedy gala on C4 had 1.8 million viewers. Here's hoping tonight competition doesn't slow ratings down!?
Who's your fave too?

That's pretty good really. If it's the same as last year that's not bad at all, at least things are consistent!

Yes but 2 years ago it was launching with 2.7 and with the success of Januarys series everyone was expecting around 2.5.
I actually called 2 million after watching last nights show I don't think it grabbed people.
Could have been worse. Can't see the amazing retention rate happening again but pleased it hasn't gone down from last year.

2.7 after a finale of 3 million the night before.. it's matched last year/got a higher share which is at least double what 5 have been getting in the past four months, I'm happy
And to be only beaten by BBC1 is pretty good.

Everything is against tonight doing well.
Last night proved unpopular with a lot of viewers and the fact its a Friday and gorgeous weather out im expecting a lot of people to be out tonight.
Hopefully it matches last nights but as we know the second episode tends to drop off, last year being the only exception.

All over social media even on here the general comments were about how much alike the housemates were and Twitter especially had thousands of tweets saying how it was "boring".
Before you go rambling on at me saying we cant trust social media for ratings im just saying a lot of people found it pretty dull.
Me personally aswell felt last night was a pretty meh launch.
Last years BB was the highest rated Civilian series on C5, so I wouldn't say it's going to flop, I feel like the Seconded launch will hold last year's did
Why are people saying that all the Housemates where dull, there is 6 more going in tomorrow lmao, I though the launch was good

What I will say though is, it depends on tonight. Personally, I think there's some really interesting characters in there this year - I certainly didn't think it was boring... We'll see. Hope it does well - with the amount of money and effort that's clearly gone into this series, it certainly deserves to.
It did better than last year anyway, Last year's got 1.99 Million

Yes ratings may rise slightly but usually they don't. People who didn't tune in for launch most likely wont watch at all now as they don't know who any of the housemates are already.
Terrible ratings and its going to get worse with the world cup starting next week. I think tonight is gonna drop below 1 million.

FGS it did ****e that's the facts its so annoying seeing fans rallying around making up excuses and possibilities.
The fact is it bombed and that's because firstly the producers failed to put on a good first night and sent the housemates into the house in totally the wrong order.
Then they have crammed to much in to such a small space of time (someone got power, someone got punished, someone was given 5 grand, 6 new housemates enter, someones given a ticket to the final, someone will be nominated every week)
All this happened by day 2.
Its just Secrets and Lies but on speed.
Viewers are bored of it and im finding it a chore after only 2 days. Im worn out from watching the launches already lol.

Decent for the first show, slightly up on last year, disappointing for the second, down probably to the bland selection of first night housemates and the good weather that seems to have effected everything. Hopefully after tonight's, which airing after BGT and against football will probably tank, it'll start to stabalise and recover.
Channel 5 made a terrible mistake at making it a two part launch

'Flop contestants', how can people say that? Its been a day!
And anyway, already, we have...
- Helen having a tantrum about her photo and getting a warning according to Tellymix
- Pauline and her dislike for Chris, will she poison everyones minds?
- Jale already getting annoyed with fakeness
And it's the 2nd proper day! I really think this series will be one to look out for. I reckon it could be a grower.
It needs word of mouth. It's been negative so far. But anyway...
Tonight will be very low. A Saturday, up against the England match. I predict under 1m. Tomorrow may save it, it will probably be in the 1.3-1.4m range (which is what most BB14 HLs got), especially at the start considering BB14 was the first 'grower' of a series for years and so was CBB13.
So basically will BB15 follow in BB14 and CBB13 footsteps, starting relatively low and growing?
Impressive for Live Feed though IMO.

How can you say that 2 days in?
You cant judge a whole cast based on 2 days and say they are better than 3 years of housemates put together lol.
Way to much generalising, I personally thought the cast was pretty bland on night 1 as did thousands of others its not just like one person is saying it but the next lot in were far more charismatic and interesting.
Looking back its not that the cast is bad its the fact that a lot are alike and the producers put them in in the wrong order.
If they had mixed them all up and not put the similar ones in on night one launch 2 would have retained its ratings or climbed.
They need to scrap these 2 part launch nights altogether though that's a better idea.
Tonight, 1.0 - 1.10

A lot of people would have still watched for the chat. And you'd get the houses who usually watch BB but were dictated to by football fans in the house on what they were watching that night.

Its amazing how like 13 Million watch BGT and then under a million watch BB. Like BGT is hardly better at all, its worse in my opinion. BB is more interesting and I think a better concept of a show. What a shame :/ tonight's should be better as BGT has finished. Because the final lasted for 2:30 hours, so maybe people got sick of watching TV last night.

Historically Saturdays do badly for BB, some Saturdays were under 3million in BB7 which averaged 4.7m
BB is watched by a mainly young audience compared to BGT which appeals to everyone, much in the same way opportunity knocks did. Variety shows entice everyone.
It was against the football i'm not surprised, every other Channel had bad ratings so i'm not surprised the officials will be way higher for yesterdays show. It's against Soccer aid tonight so

BB is a niche, only a few million would want to watch highlights of strangers everyday of the week. Where as BGT is an talent competition. People who tune into to BGT know their in for some good viewing, were as with BB you would have to wait a couple of days for something good to happen.

BGT appeals to a wider range of people. On Channel 4 BB appealed to most people I think, but suddenly now it's moved people have a perception of the show. My mum won't watch it now it's on Channel 5, I persuaded her to watch both launches and she said it was hardly Big Brother.

Very good. Is there a point?
Yes, a lot of households would have watched the footy rather than BB because of the fans in the house. If you have a husband and wife and the husband always lets the wife watch BB but one night the football is on, generally the husband gets to watch the football because the wife always watches BB. Just an example.
Very good. Is there a point?
It will never go under 1 Million, the audience for Big brother is much higher
