Oh wow wig. She's tied with KJT now right?

Yep! That was her season opener as well so to jump a lifetime best is pretty promising. She's such a flop when it comes to big occasions though so not putting any bets on her any time soon.

In other GB news Niamh Emerson set a world lead in the Pentathlon today with 4544 to go fourth on the UK all-time list behind KJT, Ennis and Sotherton. She's still only 19!

Asha Philip also ran a world lead 7.12 today.

European Indoor Championships are being held in the UK in a couple weeks time. Event is running in Glasgow from March 1st to March 3rd.

Team was announced this weekend and the 60m selection was controversial as they only selected one athlete who finished last in the trials. Kilty (current reigning double champion) wasn't selected but got a special invite from the European council instead.

US Nationals are finishing up today and it's kind of a joke because soooo many people are skipping it since it's indoor and an off year, but OMG I'm still in shock about Athing Mu. She is SIXTEEN YEARS OLD and she held off Raevyn Rogers to win the 600m in 1:23.57, which is an American record and #2 all time. I know it's an off-distance but she came through in like 55.04 and then Rogers tried to pass her on the backstretch but she held her off :skull:

Even in spite of what I just said about the collegians, I think Teahna Daniels will make the team? She's seemed to have gotten better since graduating this year while Sha'Carri Richardson has been running good but not great since her NCAA breakthrough

Headie
27-07-2019, 12:54 AM

Macie Lightfoot
27-07-2019, 01:04 AM
I think it's just the cliche ~changing of the guard~ that the commentators have been hyping up for a few years but is actually coming into fruition now? Teahna Daniels has been one of the top collegians for a while and has a bunch of high podium finishes from her collegiate years and she's been the one who is actually transitioning very well into running professionally and Morolake Akinsoun has always been someone on the bubble bc she ran in the 4x1 heats and Rio and the 4x1 final in London.

And Sha'Carri Richardson was never really on anyone's radar until she popped out her 10.75. Like she was running extremely well for a freshman in college and she was a contender to win NCAAs but the 10.75 was nowhere near expected. Good for her on cashing in on that but I just don't want another Kaylin Whitney or Candace Hill.

Macie Lightfoot
27-07-2019, 01:07 AM
And yeah they said Gatlin pulled out of the 100 final bc he already has the bye, and then Ato Bolden threw some shade and said he just wanted to duck out of racing Christian Coleman :joker:

Macie Lightfoot
27-07-2019, 08:19 PM
That being said, Ali, Nelvis, Claye (nee Harrison), and McNeal were the obvious top four so it's good they all qualified.

Second semi I would predict Harrison, Clemons (nee Manning), Brissett, and....... maybe Marshall? I feel like Castlin will sneak in there but IDK who she would beat out. Maybe Brissett?

Macie Lightfoot
27-07-2019, 08:24 PM
"Keni Harrison grew up in a household where she was one of eleven kids...... but in this world she stands alone" is one of the most bizarre statements I've heard a sports commentator make.

Predicting only Dina, KJT and the 4x100 relays will medal tbh. Maybe Zharnel/Gemili in one of the 100/200 if we're lucky. Laura has been injured and hasn't raced for a while now so a shame if it ruins her chances of a medal.

Lewis Johnson: Allyson did you just make your case to be out in the final?
Allyson Felix: Well we have so much depth that I'm just going to be supportive no mather what happens
Lewis Johnson: OKAY BUT YOU'RE TOTALLY GONNA BE IN THE FINAL, RIGHT?!?!
Allyson Felix: *shrug*

This sounds like a parody but it's not!

The Felix coverage you're describing is literally the Mo Farah coverage we've had for like the past 10 years and now it's been passed on to Dina now he's retired lmao

Also WHY does Martyn Rooney keep getting selected as anchor on every relay we've had so far these champs???? He came dead last in the British trials lmao I don't even know how he made it on the team let alone ran anchor in all the relays so far. We're definitely not qualifying for the final.

Rooney cost us a place in the final. From 2nd to 5th on the last leg. Embarrassing.

We have no depth anyway. MHS is our only decent 400m runner and he got injured.

Screaming @ BBC putting the entire Champs on BBC2 but putting the sessions with 100m/200m/1500m aka Dina and Laura's finals on BBC1 - imagine if they hadn't made the final lmao Gabby would be fuming

Silly by Laura Muir trying to go with the winner. She should have just let her go and run her own race and she'd have got a Silver.

He should have took the shades off, at least he wouldn't have looked like a total wanker for running ****.
