she build up this trust thing with her only to vote her out what a waste of time that was.

It would have been amazing episode if they drew rocks and Pete went to jury as he had an OT episode which i felt it was leading too.

Found this episode a waste of time, they could have easily fit both his and the final 4 immunity challenge in the same episode, but they had silly filler stuff. Also the whole tribe council and the 3 questions was such a waste of time, he knew the moment he won the advantage he was booting Tessa. Thats really my biggest hate of Australia survivor they drag unnecessary things out.

For what it's worth Tara performed better than I thought she would at final tribal* so I totally get the votes for her (though Sarah's did surprise me the most). - This has been a fabulous season and honestly might be one of my favourite ever. So many great characters, so many unpredictable tribals without it feeling forced and the challenges have been really on point too.
- I would've preferred a Tara win (obviously) but let's face it, it was never going to happen lol. Saying you only started playing the game at final 4 is NOT the way to win over a jury.
- The reunion actually SUCKED and was low-key misogynistic? All the segments were devoted to the men, all the questions were directed to the men, when Jonathan mentioned three big players he mentioned all men... yikes.

I'm talking about every stage of the show, if Six Chair results were being discussed after they've aired I wouldn't have a problem? My issue is with random spoilers about different acts journeys being peppered around the subforum. I can almost guarantee that in some of threads that have been made about certain acts, their journey has already been teased or outright spoiled. I'd also bet that in some of the episode discussion threads (when there's been them in the past), someone's commented about a certain act's progression. I also don't want spoilers about the judges categories (and I may be the only person who still cares but until it's shown on TV it is a spoiler, they wouldn't still do the reveal segment otherwise) and yet every year there's a few posts like 'I don't know if Nicole's going to mentor him well' in a thread about x or y in week 2. I don't want to know. I avoid the threads until the lives for this very reason but if we're going by the mantra you just outlined, why are these things that haven't yet been broadcast being posted unspoilered in random threads? Most years there's an actual spoilers thread too and they still filter out :facepalm:

Thank you, I knew I was in the minority but not the only person who thought like this. I just think the 'not my problem, it's yours' attitude is a bit twatty really when it takes a second just to wrap a post in spoiler tags. For those who go onto Twitter to complain about them I have no sympathy, there's no way of policing that and it's an as-live medium. But a thread on a British forum where episodes are being watched days, weeks and months after the fact and people may want to come in here to discuss their thoughts on different episodes at different paces to others? It's just considerate to use them. Correct, I mentioned in an earlier post that we wouldn't be having this discussion if it were about Survivor US cause it'd be absurd to expect no spoilers since everyone watches live. But no one apart from me (and members who live in Australia) have ever watched and discussed this live so it's a completely different context. If someone's watching at a different pace to someone else, why shouldn't they be able to post their thoughts on a particular episode in the thread without stumbling across spoilers of future ones?

The even simpler answer is to just put your thoughts in spoiler tags for that reason, it requires no effort whatsoever and is just considerate of other people

Now then...onto an actual essay! Some post season thoughts:

I'm having major withdrawal symptoms from this today :( didn't bother with any post-season media last year cause they were all so awful but I've watched and read quite a few things this time. I agree with what LemonJam said, this has been one of my favourite seasons of Survivor ever, and is probably in my top ten reality TV seasons of all time too :love: whether I'd be typing that had things ended differently I'm not sure, but it really was superb from start to finish. Great challenges (especially the pegs one at F4) that the US need to learn from, great gameplay, great characters, great editing, great ending. And JLP felt more at home in the role this time around too.

I also found it refreshing after despising almost every player at the merge last season to not actually dislike anybody this year? I may have only had two solid favourites and rooted for like three others, and I know I've cast aspersions on many of them for being irrelevant, but none of them are bad, dislikable people. I know y'all didn't like Henry but it's not like he's a Kyle Jason type or anything.

Also, I don't know about the season length but I'm now definitely sold on multiple and lengthier episodes a week. CBS and Probst need to learn from this because the reason I'm (thus far) not caring about HvHvH is because it's rushed and impersonal. I've legitimately been as invested in characters in this Australian Survivor season as I am in Big Brother housemates. Character development matters!

Aaaaand it's SO good to finally have one of my favourites win a reality show again! I think the last was...Sarah Hanlon? :umm2: by far my favourite Survivor winner since Tony, too

to be fair there isn't a large population of black people in Australia. There is a huge Asian population however and that's never well represented.

Honestly I'm incredibly unhyped for this season. The theme is awful, the cast looks dull af (the Champions tribe looks especially awful and the bro alliance will be sickening) and it has Russell Hantz. I can't even be bothered to look at the pre-season interviews.

Seeing her big ass struggle over that obstacle and hold her team up in the challenge was at least a rare funny moment in this season. It's giving me SERIOUS post-merge S3 (are we calling it S3 or S1 btw?) vibes where everyone's sitting around singing ****ing kumbaya decrying anyone for ~playing the game~, like Steve banging on about "gameplay" at tribal ugh get to fuuuuck with that crap YOU'RE ON SURVIVOR. I can't take another season of people like Sam Webb :yuk:

As for the vote-offs...

The girls are ****ing CANCELLED before they've even been commissioned for getting rid of Steve, when there's a WHOLE group of misogynistic meatheads that should've been targeted first :conf: I vow to NEVER stan one of them! Anita's hate boner for poor old Paige is a joke too

In fact you know the girls are bad when there's someone as obnoxiously chauvinistic as Zac walking around - who literally used the word 'snowflake' in real life (I cringed so hard) - and you begin to think 'eh, they deserve it :shrug:'

But yeah Shane is a deserving winning, she wasn’t at the forefront for a lot of post merge but she did have her hand in a lot of the game play to an extant.

It was just so bleh. The cast were vanilla, Mat's endless stranglehold on the game was garbage and the semi-Pagonging of the Contenders was just irritating given they were far and away the more interesting tribe. Save for Sam, Jackie, Shane and maybe Brian at a stretch - the Champions were a ****ing diabolical kumbaya tribe of nothingness.

As for the constant hyping of the "most shocking and amazing endgame in Survivor history" lmfao bitch where?! :joker: they were desperate to sell it cause they knew it was crap...and it was

The only saving grace was the ending. Sharn sucking the **** out of Mat's arsehole all season only for him to not vote for her :love: those umpteen confessionals about her being the "best jury closer in Victoria" or whatever the **** all foreshadowing a complete shitshow where she got ****ing rinsed and ran over by Shane Gould :love: JUSTICE for Benji!

Brian being ****ed off at the last minute and pathetic Monika blindsided - that's what you get for returning to the Champions all the time! JUSTICE for Benji!

Pia is an INCREDIBLE winner. So happy for her, she played the hell out of the game, glad it was one of the Janine/Abby/Pia trio!

Baden was a goat and played a mediocre game at best.

So annoying that there was no live reunion/finale vote read, swear last season had a live vote read? Like the votes for the winner were read and then the whole season ended, a bit like BBUS when you want to see a bit of the aftermath and hear reactions to the win!

Cried at Pia winning, her pitch was amazing. Abby's 'Your Mum is amazing' to her daughter was so sweet. LOVE that Janine and Pia have become besties in real life now too.

Buzzing for all stars. The editing this season was SO off and focused on the males but hey what's new it's Survivor Aus- funny when 3/4 of the new series winners have actually been female!

This was a much better season! ngl I didn't have many faves other than Luke (so good to have him back again :love:) but it was just so much more enjoyable in terms of storylines and characters, and thankfully didn't have another Champions tribe full of smug fun sponges who banged on about ~not playing the game~

I thought it became quite clear a woman would win this season, I started to think it'd be Daisy at one point...her edit was kinda weird in the end? Not convinced Pia deserved to win unanimously but hey ho! Gutted for Luke but frankly I'm amazed he lasted as long as he did...AND what's more:

I noticed again that, as with Shane last year, the producers brought in a pre-show video of Pia's life just before the end, and just before she won. So repeating the same trick from last year. Whether trying to play on pre-show needs or on their pre-show fame the producers miss what reality tv grew popular with, putting unknown people who the audience make up their own minds on into unusual situations. I wish the editing had been spread out more among the cast members to make it more even. And a live finale is much better, they should schedule production so they can fit this in. The whole show was spoiled beforehand, even for some like me who didn't want to be spoiled. Pia was of course the betting favourite to win as some would love to point out.


I don't think vets should be mixed with newbies either. They've done it twice now, first with a player who was expected to be disliked and then with one who they expected to be popular. But neither should be necessary to get a decent audience if the casting is done well, and they shouldn't have to cast people with some pre-show fame or pre-show stories to manipulate the audience either.


They tried to even it out physically between contenders and champions this year, but the champions still took control really, maybe they just naturally see themselves as a group more. Who wouldn't want to be considered a champion? Whereas some contenders likely want to be known as champions than contenders.

I did enjoy this season, not a greatly deserved winner for me but not too awful like some other winners.
I hope they do Blood vs Water soon or whatever and not this champions contenders thing again

Blood v water would just mean yet more pre-show stories thrown at the audience, absolutely no. Just go back to basics, a non-themed season with no returnees and no celebs, nobody knowing each other beforehand.

I'll save you all time, first episode is spent just glorifying the mediocre male players and completely ignoring all but one woman and all talk about big moves. If this is the tone for the season then I can't be bothered tbh.

Forgot how much I can't ****ing stand Henry and the concept that he was this huge great gameplayer because he threw challenges to get nobodies out, pretended to be a different occupation like 50% of big brother players these days and got voted out with an idol in his pocket anyway and now he's immediately back on his bull****, like please don't put me through this again.

It’s been okay so far; my main problem is that the edit is focusing on like 3 of them and ignoring everyone else; I mean has flick even spoken yet? I am getting bored of David being centre of every storyline and episode; we get it he’s going far. As much as I love shonee and she is the star of the season; she is also a tad overexposed. I mean I would have liked to see zachs reaction to exile and being voted off this past episode but it was all shonee, they could have at least given him a confessional instead of 4 for shonee.

Anyway I am happy the physical people might go now; Lydia and John have no personality and Abbie was annoying with all this keep tribe strong; like Harry said they are still losing. I hope nick telling phoboe about his key means she might be an unofficial member of the rascals; I could get being an alliance of Harry, nick, phoboe and shonee

I don't really understand Phoebe's move, she didn't vote how David wanted ok, but she also told Nick, who he considers his biggest rival, that he's going after him? And yet this episode she talks like she is really more allied with David. Nick got only himself and her to vote Moana so maybe she realised a bit late that he doesn't have much influence.

It's normal now for the AU version to miss out several people completely from the edit despite the many episodes.

True I’m loving all these players spilling what really happened on twitter and Reddit. Flick said Harry backed out on the idea, however Harry is saying on Reddit that mat told ak the plan to vote between locky/Brooke so had to do damage control. Shame I was really liking mat as well this season.

I also have to agree about mona, again I was kinda like her until 2 episodes ago. Just go after David if you are scared of him. Did we really have to have 3 confessions about mona hating phoboe; we could have had flick explaining her situation. Also love phobs calling it out on twitter that mona bidded as well but it was edited out; of course this means we are suppose to root for mona; no thanks.

I don’t mind this season but again the editing is well ****. We get it either mona, David, shonee or at a stretch Nick is winning as that’s all we are seeing

While the social media stuff can be interesting it can also give you more of an idea where the edit is going and spoil what is likely to happen either because it's hidden in the edit for suspense reasons or because the edit is trying to push a positive view of some more. The social media stuff would be more interesting after the season for me. Spoiler people will always be poking around trying to get clues as to what happens as well and then spoiling others.

The producers definitely like Harry, they put the advantage in the open and the cameraman was pointing to it. It helps Shonee at least but it rather artificially eliminated Flick. I'm sure Harry must have indicated beforehand (at least to AK) that he could make the vote pointless if they voted for him or Shonee.

Sad to see not much activity on this thread- what an amazing season this was.

Yes it was classic Australian Survivor with a very biased edit but in the end I was so pushing for Sharn to win despite David playing the best game and being massively favored by producers!

I didn't watch but everything about this season sounded terrible and everything about Australian Survivor sounds like it gets worse and worse each season.

It was good. The only major problem I had was the editing earlier on when it ignored some players (like Flick) and favoured others such as Matt, Moana. Good winner, Sharn winning would have been the worst result but with that final tribal edit it was obvious she wasn't going to.

This was a good season but not amazing.

Going in I had some MAJOR issues with the cast. Mat, Flick, Lee, Sharn...all awful. Abbey, Lydia, John, Moana...no business being on an All Stars season. And as for Zach, he was vile and I honestly cannot believe they invited him back. It's basically the equivalent of asking Kyle Jason to play again :shrug:

It was a fun enough season though but with some issues - Jericho, Nick, Phoebe all out way too early, the semi-Pagonging at the merge (that I saw coming) really spoiled things when Vakama were the better tribe. Moan-a was bloody awful and her hate boner for Phoebe incredibly annoying, as was Abbey's for Shonee who btw is AMAZING :love: the one shining light of this season, I adore her <3

Some of the twists were a bit of a mess. I swear Jonathan said the two sent to Exile Beach would be competing to return...and...they both just got to stay? A tad pointless! But if it were to save Shonee then oh well! Why couldn't they have done the trial by fire for her instead of AK????

David was far more tolerable than last year thankfully, and all I have to say is...

Sharn sucking the **** out of Mat's arsehole all season only for him to not vote for her :love: those umpteen confessionals about her being the "best jury closer in Victoria" or whatever the **** all foreshadowing a complete shitshow where she got ****ing rinsed and ran over by Shane Gould :love:

If anything it almost sounds like a creepily similar season to US All-Stars with a bunch of Actual Stars leaving early and an alpha male leading an army of brain dead and extremely questionable casting choices to the end. Except the alpha male actually wins?

Also interesting to note how the edit and vibe of the franchise changes as soon as a guy like David wins because duh it's Australia.
