Hopefully Viacom will look at why LI suceeded and won the ratings war.
LukeB
14-07-2016, 02:26 PM
It didn't, though
well it kind of did. Love island beat big brother most times..
I think it only beat BB in the ratings around five times, they shouldn't look to LI because it's even worse then BB it's only successful because it's a fresh new show
It beat BB on the odd occasion but BB is still well ahead in the averages

It didn't do well in ratings last year after they brought it back but it's successful because it was an amazing season this year and itv promoted the show.
LI was hardly amazing television it was just something to watch. BB17 has been better to watch.

probably last years but the show is well produced and this season has been amazing imo and it's been praised by the public as well hence why the ratings went up by loads that they hit 1 million(they didn't even reach that last year). BB17 has been good too reason why it's beating last years season in ratings.

Love Island produced a great series last year that was far better than BB16 and this year's was even better and they went all out on the promotion - the only reason it's on par with BB17 in terms of quality is because Big Brother's been good this year too.
But Love Island does Big Brother better than Big Brother does Big Brother
Will.

How did LI beat it in the ratings war.
LI beat BB like 5 times.
whilst BB beat it 30 times.

Big Brother had 1.36m (8.0%) including +1 last night.
It had a 33% 16-34 skew. Up on the standard 26-28% skew it was getting prior to Love Island ending.
Tonight? Another 1.4m?
Jake.

That looks to be the 3rd consecutive 1.4m then with +1. Doing very well this week! Seems to me that this week has captured the public's attention. :clap1:

Also interesting week by week averages throughout the series:
Week 1- 1.33m
Week 2- 1.16m
Week 3- 1.06m
Week 4- 1.02m
Week 5- 957k
Week 6 so far- 1.24m (assuming last night got 1.4m)
*mazedsalv**

Odd... that'll be around 1.2m incl +1.
I knew it would be a bit down as I reckon that Celebrity First Dates shares some sort of audience with it.
Tbh next week I see it going back down to 1.1-1.2m anyway.
supertv247
16-07-2016, 12:52 PM
I actually think it's only down slightly because it's a Friday. Fridays are starting to follow Saturday and are usually the second lowest rated episode of the week now. It's been that case for the last few series of BB/CBB because the younger audience is out, especially this week when the 16-25 demo was up a good 30% from love island viewers hoping over, wouldn't have been up that much last night as it was a Friday night. Nothing to worry about
I'm pretty sure Saturday has out rated Friday twice this series in consolidated ratings actually

Round up on last couple of ratings with +1:
Friday- 1.2m
Saturday- 870k
Broadcast hadn't posted last night's number but looks to be at around 1.1m including +1 judging by its excl +1 rating.
On the plus side: no more Love Island

Saturday- 1.62m (1.12m)

Week average- 1.58m 80k up on previous week.
My God that Saturday rating! Is that then highest ever for civilian BB?
Official average so far- 1.56m
Wow :amazed:
I don't understand this new trend of Friday's doing worse than Saturday's though.

Well at lowest last year's BB16 got 1.36m.
It's on par with 12,13,15. The next 2 weeks officials roll determine whether it gets 1.5m it 1.6m.
I'm glad BB16 is staying as the lowest rated series ever

What's really impressive is that 200k out of 220k new viewers are all watching on catchup. In just a year, the way we watch has changed a lot!
And most nights getting near 500k in consolidation is incredible. That was incredible for CBB just this year so this is really good!
If it stays at that in next week's officials, most nights were 1.4m last week so that's 1.9m we could be looking at!
*mazedsalv**
19-07-2016, 09:05 AM
1.11m excl +1 last night so 1.2m incl +1 it seems.
Better than i thought to be fair with the hot weather. 1.2m seems to be the norm (and as long as that translates to ~1.6m official like it should, the series should be averaging that.
*mazedsalv**
20-07-2016, 09:52 AM
Big Brother: 1.2m (6.9%) incl +1
Seems stuck at 1.2m, which is good considering that should be 1.6m+ officials.
The official average as of the last officials update was 1.555m. So, with Annihilation week ratings to be released next Monday, it should bring it up to ~1.8m for 3 days, and that would bung the average up closer to a healthier 1.6, maybe 1.60m? Then if we continue getting 1.2m overnights, which will equate to over 1.6m officials, we should be on par with BB12, BB13 and BB15 at 1.6m officials lets hope!!
Right now 1.555m is too close to 1.5m.
Jason.

BB12 got 1.55m average and BB15 got 1.57m.
Thanks. I hope that we can get past 1.57m then, it deserves to be higher than both them series!
So looking online:
BB12- 1.55m
BB13- 1.60m
BB14- 1.90m
BB15- 1.57m
BB15- 1.36m
How awesome would it be if Annihilation week which should get 1.7-1.8m and the next week can get 1.2-1.3m nightly to get 1.6m+ can have it hit over 1.60m?
I doubt it though, i feel it will average 1.56m.
Jason.
20-07-2016, 10:09 AM
BB13 also got 1.63m (if you want to be specific)
If only it got a bit more and hit 1.7m tho </3
Jason.
20-07-2016, 10:11 AM
I'm shocked that 15 had more viewers than 12 since it was C5's first series
You need to also take into account that BB12 didn't have C5+1 when it aired whereas BB15 did and it still got almost the same amount of viewers.
Without +1 BB15 would've averaged lower than BB12 so BB12 didn't do too bad to get 1.55m without +1.
Jason.

I agree.
I'm just glad it's gone back to getting around 1.6m (that's a safe rating for C5 BB - it's like what 4.6m was to C4) as opposed to last year when it was scarily low in the 1.3m region.
BB17 has done really well given we all expected it to drop even further after BB16

I've thoroughly enjoyed this series, think it deserved an extra week though. Official ratings have stayed consistent, even Saturday's. It should average out at 1.6 which is promising for it being recommissioned in the upcoming years. The eviction set obviously needs enlarging, not enough atmosphere with the crowd numbers. If they want the overnight numbers then next year they'll have to consider avoiding Love Island, simple. Worked well in the 10pm slot. It's amazing how nearly a third of viewers are using catchup services! I'm hoping CBB averages 2.0m+

Don't know why they have to mess around with 9pm some days and 10pm others. It must play hell with the ratings. I could see some missing a show and not bothering to come back, so the ratings loss cascades right through the series.

Officials are in!
Mon 11th - 1.68m
Tue 12th - 1.77m
Wed 13th - 1.78m
Thur 14th - 1.80m
Fri 15th - 1.58m
Sat 16th - 1.29m
Sun 17th - 1.54m
The weekly average (which takes into account the previous week's Sat and Sun rating) is 1.67m - the highest since Week 1.
Safe to say Annihilation did bring up the ratings a fair bit.
The series is now averaging 1.58m which is higher than BB12 and BB15. :clap1:

The weekend ratings which were released today are for Week 7 whereas the weekend ratings which were released last week (1.62m for Sat and 1.42m for Sun) were for Week 6 alongside the Mon-Fri figures released today. So the weekly average for Week 6 is 1.67m.

So around 1.5m incl +1 I'm guessing, not bad at all especially as it launched with 1.6m.
Last 3 finals:
BB15- 1.60m
BB16- 1.28m
BB17- ~1.5m
At least it's comfortably up on last year.

1.5 million brings it up on last years final by 220k and is also the highest overnight since launch! If it adds as much in the official ratings as every other episode this series, it looks likely to be the highest rating of the series!
That's a relief that it's nowhere near last year's awful final rating
I'm glad this series has done well in the end. It really deserves it.

I thought BB14 did that but never mind.
Didn't BB14's launch get 2.35m and its final get 2.20m?
CBB13 did that, but BB17 will be the first civilian series since BB7.
*mazedsalv**
27-07-2016, 11:22 AM
Yep.
Would be the first time since BB7 for a civilian series. I'm hoping, but finals never really add more than 200k tbh so we are probably more looking at 1.7m.
CBB13 final outrated CBB13 launch though with 3.71m vs 3.69m.
I doubt it will beat it. Finals aren't an event anymore and the winners are very rarely relevant.
*mazedsalv**
27-07-2016, 02:00 PM
Just to note, the last 2 officials for the FINAL were...
BB15 final- 1.76m
BB16 final- 1.37m exc +1 (most likely 1.4m including)
Last year did dreadfully. This year looks to be between 1.7-1.8m. I wonder if it will beat BB15s 1.76m. It's certainly doable.
BB15 had a mouthy bitch (queen) winning over the sweet girl she'd 'bullied' all series though so people were more likely to catch up on that final than they would with this one. I know Hughie was expected to win but Jason winning wasn't really as much of a shock as Helen.

The final week of officials are in (the last two episodes including the final aren't until next week, however)
Overnights are in brackets
M - 1.62m (1.20) +420k
T - 1.69m (1.20) +490k
W - 1.56m (1.20) +360k
T - 1.80m (1.35) +450k
F - 1.42m (1.10) +310k
S - 1.20m (820k) +380k
S - 1.67m (1.20) +470k
Avg - 1.57m
Those time shifts of nearly 500k are Incredible!
If the final highlights (1.3m) does anything near that, say 400k then that'll be 1.7m which will bring the official average up with the final (I predict around 1.7-8m) rating to hopefully 1.58-1.6m which would make it higher than Powertrip.

Whether it beats BB15 or not, it'll still average the same when rounded (1.6m) and I'm happy with that because instead of decreasing further from BB16 like we all thought 3 months ago, it's climbed back to 1.6m - which is decent for C5.

CBB 1.8m last night doing pretty well much better compared to bbuk [emoji3][emoji3][emoji3] so far
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
However as of now, BB17 was so much more superior than CBB. BB17 deserved better numbers and be up there with BB14.

Last 2 officials:
Monday- 1.69m
Final- 1.79m
Only 70k down on launch which got 1.86m.
Beat BB16 final which got 1.37m. BB15 final got 1.73m, so beat that too!! :)
I don't know how that works out with the official average and whether it stays at 1.57m or not.

Looking back BB17 was such a brilliant series, some great housemates and so much happened from the house flooding to annihilation week.
And annihilation week was good, I loved the eviction chamber.
I think it's my favourite Channel 5 series that I've watched, I have only seen bits of BB13.
There were less twists and it overall was enjoyable to watch, I'm glad it ended on a high rather than having another 3 weeks and going stale.
I'm started to miss BB17 <3 :(
It deserved the good ratings it got.

3rd highest C5 series behind BB14 and BB13. :clap1:
It's done well and it's definitely restored some faith back into the show that BB15/16 lost.

Hopefully next year is even higher
So weird how it's like 1.5/1.6 then BB14 with 1.9

Why on BBSpy does it say BB15 averaged 1.57 officially but doesn't count for all +1? Can someone explain:shrug:

This is getting ridiculous
Big Brother: 1.01m
Love Island: 1.04m
BB got 1.1m +1 but this is severely getting on my tits.
Mess we thought 0.03m difference was ridiculous just a year ago
