Much like the rest of the season so far, I enjoyed that episode (well, up until the... slightly less light-hearted bit at the end. That's right, the reemergence of Jeff Probst: The Talk Show), although I had an operation today so that might just be the local anesthetic talking

I'd heard spoilers regarding Zeke being outed, but I wasn't expecting to stumble across it as fact on BBC News (!!!) before I'd even watched the show. I can't really offer anything that hasn't already been said, and since it took place nine-odd months ago and everyone involved is an adult, I'm sure there's little point in trying to dig much deeper into it

Anyway, yay for the next time preview guaranteeing Cirie a confessional and Sierra an episode title!

Wow, I'm really stunned by what happened at TC. While Jeff was undeniably in the wrong I think the whole thing has been blown out of proportion and I do feel an immense amount of sympathy for him. The TC was very uncomfortable and while Zeke handled it very well I did think Probst was such a DICK throughout it all.

Jeff was in the wrong but ffs people have done worse things and got away with it. I hope the thing dies down soon.

Everyone deserves the benefit of the doubt especially for a one-off incident. Even though it's not right to Zeke that he was outed in such a way, that really sucks for Varner for this to make national/international news headlines when he's probably had to deal with it enough already.

Well that was...powerful. And uncomfortable. I'm still kinda reeling from the episode to be honest.

I actually feel the most for Varner? Given both his immediate reaction at tribal and today's press it's clear that what he did wasn't from a place of malice, just one of desperation, wrapped up in a game where you could argue there aren't many 'lines' in terms of what is and isn't acceptable (see: Jonny Fairplay). It astounds me that he ever thought it'd be a good idea, but then I've never played Survivor before. I've liked him on all his seasons, especially this one - and was really hoping he'd finally make the jury as he so longed for, it's just such a shame that his experience had to end like this, in a gross and awkward situation which I don't think truly reflects him as a person. I very much doubt he'll ever be invited back or indeed want to return, and that's sad.

Zeke handled himself with dignity and composure that many would have struggled with, and for that I only have respect. Hopefully this incident (which was edited and handled beautifully, btw) will in the long run prove to be a small part of a greater good.

This season's boot order is seriously unbelievable at this point (this is maybe exactly what I've said for a few weeks now though). It doesn't stop. There hasn't been a single boot that I've liked to see go except maybe Ciera - I didn't mind her going based on episode 1.

The second half of that 2 hour episode was solid though. But I LOVED seeing Cirie & Ozzy finally on the same page... and then ****ing Zeke turns this whole thing into a mess. :joker:

I think I find Zeke alright overall which is what I came around to thinking after MvGx. He's not GREAT but I don't understand some of the hate he gets. I mean he plays the game hard and helps create big moves on the season but he does play way too hard sometimes. He's fine but he did ruin a potentially good thing this episode for no reason. :nono:

Hali is a sweetheart so it´s kind of a bummer to see her out. On the other hand she was/is pro-Sandra, so good riddance.

Ozzy´s 4th time ends in a blinside. Good enough guy, i guess, but it just doesn´t work for him. Too big of a threat. Nice game move Debbie. Never thought i would´ve said that.

Zeke continues to play irrationally and screwing everyone. Oh well, i don´t mind it, since it´s against the people who i don´t really care about.

But then again, i don´t really care about any of them. It´s kind of been like that for the whole season though.

I... found that quite a fun merge? Losing Hali aside, Black Italian Aunt Cirie's scenes with Michaela, Sierra's turn as The Godfather and Debbie somehow becoming a strategic mastermind and being the first person to use the extra vote correctly were all enjoyable... even Zeke's awfulness is close to coming back around to being quite amusing (we're almost there with the confessionals from others (well, mainly Andrea) talking about what an awful overplaying gamebot he is, but there's still a way to go)

ps I'm beginning to suspect that Troyzan died midway through this season and they're now in the middle of a Weekend at Bernie's-esque scenario

Started now so interesting with the Zeke 'story', and his ease with coming out to all the others there.

I was hoping Michaela was gone on the first vote, it seemed more obvious since she can get very unstable. Hali just seemed on the outside all the time, it's not really been explained why.

Cirie I just can't find without any charisma, and then adding that sob story of how she has children and so her life is harder than others.

Hali Ford: I definitely knew it was coming. It was going to be a miracle if I didn't go home. The last two hours before we went to the vote, I was like, "Oh gosh. Here we go. People are idiots." I spent my whole day pitching to Sierra, Brad, Cirie and people I thought I established some kind of connection with to get the numbers together. There are so many big threats in the game right now. That locked it in my mind that I was in hot water.

I was willing to be searched if that was genuinely why they wanted to vote me out. I didn't volunteer to strip down totally naked. Even if I stripped down to nothing to prove I had no Idol, I was still gonna go home. I knew they weren't actually going to change their mind. I couldn't believe that was the real reason they were voting for me. It's so dumb and clearly erroneous. While I wasn't going to get naked, I would have let Sarah grope every nook and cranny to see if I had an Idol [laughs].

SK: In pregame interviews, there were multiple castaways — including yourself — saying that you weren't deserving of being labeled as a game-changer. What was your strategy to overcome that doubt?
HF: When I played my first game of Survivor, my head was at home. I had things going on at home that were a lot bigger to me than Survivor, so I wasn't engaged. I regretted that deeply. After my first season, I gunned to get back on the show because I felt like I had something to prove. Going into this game, I intended to just engage and be the person that I am. I had a lot to prove to myself, but I wanted to leverage the crappiness of my first game. I wanted to play that card of Hali is just a space cadet, don't worry about her. Apparently, that strategy failed.

SK: After this season, do you now consider yourself a game-changer?
HF: In my heart and soul, I feel like I'm a game-changer every day, but other people are a lot better at Survivor than I am. I wouldn't put myself in the echelon of game-changing Survivor players. I don't think that I'm awesome at Survivor. Certainly not the same as Sandra, Malcolm, Tony or the first Ciera to get voted out.

SK: Are there any other castaways this season who you don't think are game-changers?
HF: Uh, yeah [laughs]. I'm definitely more of a game-changer than some people who are on the show. I saw Sierra as someone who always sticks with the majority. I love Tai as a player, but strategically? You know, I don't want to out anyone as a bad player. I'm not in a position to do that.

SK: There was a moment Zeke revealed to the entire merged tribe that he's transgender. What was going through your mind when he spilled his secret?
HF: I was honestly thinking about him as a person and what this journey must have been like. I was feeling for him in a really deep way. In the aftermath, at this point, I'm feeling more for Varner. I feel like Zeke has been a hero and done a lot of good. I just wish people didn't have to support Zeke by hating on Varner [for outing Zeke.] Why can't we make this whole conversation uplifting? The hate is not necessary.

SK: Did you have any suspicion that Zeke is transgender?
HF: I didn't. He's such a dudey-dude. He might be a little hipster, but I was shocked. I was with my boyfriend last night watching the show and we were just talking about how there's nothing woman about him. He's just Zeke. He's a great guy. I think Cirie, as a nurse, could tell by his scars. She told me she knew before he was outed, but I certainly didn't.

SK: You first played back on Season 30, so was this the first time CBS had asked you to return?
HF: Yes, but not the first time I approached Survivor. I worked really hard to try to get back on the show. Maybe they would have reached out to me anyway, but I sent in multiple long videos with extended conversations to try to get back. I was just devastated after my first game. I was so embarrassed because it wasn't who I am. When I was in my first season, I was completely checked out and in zombie mode because of what was going on at home. I just couldn't be present. My pride was hurt.

SK: What was your reaction when they called and asked you to play again?
HF: Oh my gosh! I was in the basement by myself, and I just ran around the room screaming bloody murder when I got off the phone. My mom came down and was like, "What happened?!?!" I was ecstatic.

SK: Would you play a third time?
HF: I just think other people are better at Survivor than me, but I would love to go back on. I love it. It's such a fun thing, but I also think other people should go on before me again.

- First little bit of the episode... I'm really not sure what to think of Sarah at this point. I feel like I'm going through the same process with her that I did in Cagayan where my like for her peaked early-ish in the season and then pretty suddenly idk how I felt about her (and then she got the boot).

That was an okay episode, and I'm glad the power alliance has been overturned. I still quite liked Debbie this time around; I get why people would say she was a bit much, but I enjoyed her crazy moments and appreciated her contribution to the season nonetheless.
