LaLaLand
28-01-2019, 02:43 AM
I'm worn out and there's still 2 matches and the men's Rumble to go

LaLaLand
28-01-2019, 02:44 AM
Hopefully the rumours are true and they again use a load NXT/UK guys for the surprise slots in the Men's like the Women's.

Black/Dream/Ricochet/Dunne/Sullivan/EC3

Denver
28-01-2019, 02:45 AM
Is that the surprise they was referring to? Or we getting another?

LaLaLand
28-01-2019, 02:46 AM
Didn't it specify the big surprise would be at the end/"main event"? Which is why we all thought Lynch was winning the men's Rumble?

Denver
28-01-2019, 02:51 AM
Can we campaign for Finlay to be in the HOF for letting she enter??

Jordan.
28-01-2019, 03:12 AM

The Rock doesn’t have time to do the whole build up to WM.

The Rock v Lesnar would be so huge to the casuals though. Batista v Lesnar is possible though. A realistic person to fight him and two big names too.

Some random things I loved from this PPV:

- The Miz & Shane O Mac winning the titles
- Sasha Banks
- Just Brock Lesnar's presence as always
- The 3 or so "Kofi" moments in the women's RR
- Zelina Vega & Hornswoggle
- Titus O'Neil & Curt Hawkins  I absolutely LOVE that they continued off of that botch moment from last year :laugh2:
- The moment where everyone beat up on Nia Jax
- Becky Lynch winning the Women RR  (particularly over Charlotte)
- Seth Rollins winning the RR

Plenty more as well. All in all a solid RR I thought :clap1: Two solid royal rumble matches and pretty good matches all-around.

The women's RR beat the men's one already in just their second year :clap1:

Jordan.
28-01-2019, 05:49 AM
Men's rumble definitely won this year. Women's felt lacklustre until Becky entered.

JerseyWins
28-01-2019, 05:49 AM
Also, the two World title matches were probably the worst matches of the night though (even though I still enjoyed Brock/Balor enough, as I enjoy every Brock match to some extent)

But maybe the SD World title match worst of the night and either Raw World title or SD Women's title match were the second worst. Still thought there were mostly decent matches or better tonight.

Furthermore, I've seen Asuka in a bunch of matches now and I DON'T get the hype. As far as I know she doesn't do much in promos either

JerseyWins

Men's rumble definitely won this year. Women's felt lacklustre until Becky entered.
Reeeeeeally? I was thinking they're hard to compare because both were good but then I thought about them and the women's has to take it. It had plenty of moments. Like 3 "Kofi" moments between Naomi, Kacey(?), & someone else I can't remember right now. It had some comedy in there (in particular Zelina & Hornswoggle under the ring), it had solid storytelling and eliminations throughout and it had a really awesome final 4 showdown & final 2 matchup. And as said, the Becky entrance was great, better than any surprise entrant in the men's one.

Braden
28-01-2019, 03:22 PM
I thought that PPV was really good! Granted, I only watched the Women's Championship matches and both rumbles, lmao.

Asuka vs. Becky took a little bit of time to get into, but the Becky hype was really cool (even though the crowd were 100% handed those mini signs). Obvious outcome, but still a good match nonetheless. Really set things up nicely for the remainder of the card. Becky is just so incredibly suited to her character, and I love Asuka being a champ.

Sasha vs. Ronda was probably my favourite match of the night. Really enjoyed how badass they both were and the constant submission switches (there's probably a better phrase for this but oh well, lmao) were really impressive. For a slight second, I thought Sasha was going to win, but Ronda winning was inevitable. Really glad this match happened because it proved what Ronda is capable of against a really, really, good opponent. Was ready for Sasha to go back and beat Ronda's arse after the handshake, though.

The women's rumble was good. I think the first half was better than the second. I really liked how full the ring become at one point. There were so many ****ing weird moments, though. The whole thing between Alicia and Maria was a choice and Hornswoggle appearing and chasing Zelina was bizarre. Lana limping to the ring was teeth-clenching but it obviously served a purpose. Can't disagree with Becky winning, but would've liked to have seen a better-produced showdown between the two of them. I mean god love them, they must have been exhausted but that final elimination was a tad anti-climatic.

I kind of skimmed through the men's rumble. It seemed objectively good, but I've never really gotten into the men's side of WWE. Nia coming through at the last minute was so unexpected. I was here for it! Gave me Chyna vibes. Seth's a good winner and he's one of my favourite male wrestlers so happy with that outcome.

Oh, and I did see glimpses of Brock vs. Finn. I thought it was good in terms of the narrative because one is so blatantly villainous while the other is the archetypical hero, so it wasn't too bad for a match that just ended up with Brock winning again. Finn's also one of my favourite's, so would've been cool to see him win but hopefully he'll get his chance to hold the title again at a later date.

Braden

Really excited for the Women's Tag Titles match at Elimination Chamber now.

I'm thinking:

Bayley and Sasha - RAW
Nia and Tamina - RAW
Riott Squad - RAW
Iiconics - SmackDown!
Mandy and Sonya - SmackDown!
??? - SmackDown!

I'm hesitant with Mandy and Sonya because I'm not sure where creative is going with them, in terms of whether they're trying to establish them as single competitors or not. As for the last pair, maybe Trish and Lita? Probably not, as I can see Bayley and Sasha winning the titles and facing them at Wrestlemania, but don't know who they'll combine from SmackDown! for the last pair?

adding onto this:

Literally had no idea Beth Phoenix was commentating until half-way through when Renee referenced her by name. That was so weird, lmao. ALSO, I've read through the thread and completely agree that the camerawork was off for the Rumble matches, especially the women's. I don't know whether I liked the set-up of the arena, but it was awkward how we'd miss some of the entrances when the camera was still on the ring. I did like how the ramp and long entrance path was reminiscent of the 1999 Rumble, though.

Intergender NEEDS to come back, it'd be so welcome.

When you've got like Nia, Ronda, Shayna, Asuka, Io, Candice LeRae (who only really wrestled men before coming to WWE), Sarah Logan (same goes for her, she's used to wrestling in Death Matches ffs) etc that can convincingly mix it up with the fellas it's needed.

Re-watched both Rumbles today, much better on second watch.

Nia in the men's though was brilliant. She's also the first ever person to appear in two Rumbles on the same night, don't know if that'll ever happen again.

One thing it's made me realise though is that there's quite a few women who should be released tbh. There's a massive difference between "eras" and it's obvious when they're all together, some just need to go because they bring nothing.

Natalya, Dana, Alicia, Maria and Tamina spring to mind as girls who are "surplus to requirements". Mickie also isn't bringing anything to the table and that's not gonna change, they're not gonna start booking her well when they see her as pure enhancement talent.

adding onto this:

Literally had no idea Beth Phoenix was commentating until half-way through when Renee referenced her by name. That was so weird, lmao. ALSO, I've read through the thread and completely agree that the camerawork was off for the Rumble matches, especially the women's. I don't know whether I liked the set-up of the arena, but it was awkward how we'd miss some of the entrances when the camera was still on the ring. I did like how the ramp and long entrance path was reminiscent of the 1999 Rumble, though.

I read a rumour earlier on my phone online but I can't seem to find it now.

Anyway, it basically teased that the reason Cena was declared out of the Rumble was because he was solely there to put Lars Sullivan over to start their feud which would end at Mania. However, Lars is still "on the sick" so they pulled Cena from the match, replaced him with Braun and someone else had Sullivan's number.

Sullivan's future still totally up in the air and on today's WWE YouTube RAW preview, he's not featured as a call-up with the others in a "which brand will they sign with" segment.

Apparently, Nia legit hurt R-Truth when she ambushed him at the RR:

After being attacked and replaced by Nia Jax as the 30th entrant in the men's Royal Rumble, R-Truth had to be held back by agents - Brian "Road Dogg" James being specifically named as one - in the backstage area. Truth was reportedly "hot" at Nia Jax claiming that she hurt his "ankle and face" during the spot where he was taken out. Sources add that James had to "hold (Truth) back" from going to "hunt" Jax.

Jesus, since Lars got sent home from RAW all of those weeks ago he's been "missing" until recently!? So he's basically been in no contact with WWE whatsoever for weeks, woah.

It had been previously reported that Lars Sullivan did not show up to a series of tapings for Raw and Smackdown Live, due to an anxiety attack. As a results, his status in WWE has been up in the air.

Some of that seems to have been answered, as a representation for Sullivan, named William Christensen, took to Sullivan’s Twitter account recently and provided the following update:

There has been a lot of speculation about Lars recently. It’s true, he went missing several weeks ago and I was just able to contact him this morning. Lars wants everyone to know he is in a good place, and is sorry to everyone he’s disappointed.

Best, WC

LaLaLand
29-01-2019, 02:35 PM
There's also reports that he vanished after he'd massively failed a drugs/wellness policy test but IDK. I think it's safe to say he's not showing up anytime soon, if at all.

The only thing we knew regarding the Lars Sullivan situation till now was that Sullivan was scheduled to be at RAW a few weeks back, but he ended up leaving and told the WWE officials that he had an “anxiety attack” and is suffering from mental health issues.

According to The Dirty Sheets, 99% people backstage in WWE don’t believe Lars has these mental health issues as he has performed at NXT TakeOver shows (which have more attendance than RAWs). Also, Sullivan was scheduled to begin his WrestleMania 35 program with John Cena by attacking Cena in a backstage segment (where the audience wouldn’t be involved).

The real reason behind Lars leaving RAW and telling WWE officials that he’s suffering from all these issues could have something to do with the possibility of him failing WWE’s Wellness test.

According to the Dirty Sheets, all the new 6 WWE main roster wrestlers that came up from NXT were instantly added to WWE’s Wellness Policy test list.

WWE’s wellness tests are done at random on Mondays and Tuesdays backstage at RAW & SmackDown respectively and the wrestlers being tested are selected randomly. Wrestlers on the main roster are tested at least once a month (more likely twice). On the other hand, wrestlers in NXT are tested once every 3 months.

Apparently Lars Sullivan didn’t have any prior information regarding this and he went on to leave the building once he saw his name was on the list of wrestlers that were scheduled to get tested on that night.

While the WWE can’t prove that Lars Sullivan is on anything as he didn’t take the test, his anxiety attack situation isn’t believed to be true by WWE officials.

Word going on is that Lars will now return when he thinks he’s “clean” and will pass the wellness test.

On last night's RAW, Becky Lynch appeared unannounced to exchange some words with Ronda Rousey and confirm that she wants to face her at WrestleMania 35.

As we noted a couple of weeks ago, the plan for the RAW Women's Championship at "The Showcase of the Immortals" is to have a Triple Threat Match, with champion Ronda Rousey defending against Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair.

On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer confirmed that that is still the plan as of last night's WWE RAW and like anything in the wrestling business, the match could always be changed.

As for now, there is a storyline in place to add Charlotte to the Rousey vs. Lynch match. Charlotte will probably point to the fact that Becky just "illegally" replaced Lana at Sunday's Royal Rumble match to steal her moment. Lynch would last eliminate Charlotte from the Rumble to guarantee herself a Women's Championship match at WrestleMania 35

Hmmm.
