just cancel next week eviction since sukhi left and send in four new good housemates and promote it, simple.

You just know they won't do this and will instead rock the house to its very core by having special guests Dexter Koh, Jazzi P and Jale take over the house, and evict 6 people in a special week called destruction week.

It was on for 9pm most nights last year, just a few were at 10pm - and didn’t the 10pm ones have strong catch-up figures?

idk about that people have been blaming the declining ratings year on year on the 10pm slot for a long time now

it''s been a while since civ was regularly at 9pm

Doubt it, it was a Friday night and lots of people were out. It'll probs have higher ratings next week if anything

Spot on people said the same last year and it stayed really consistent

I didn't meant Fridays episode, I meant in general I think it'll stay at the level it's at now after rising consistently all week

Blind Date - 1.8 million
Before they were stars - 700k
Big Brother - 780k

Blind Date should have been on at 8pm, would've done better because it was probably dented by the weather being on so early plus it would have helped BB (and BB would have helped it)
1.8m is still fantastic though, it almost beat BBC One.

BB was ok considering the weather etc but it really needs to pip 1 million again, soon

Only good news is that the ejection def did help, it would have been below 600k without it for sure.

Equivalents (2nd Sats) in the previous 2 series...

BB16- 640k
BB17- 810k
BB18- 788k

Up on two years ago but slightly down on last year.

To note the Sunday's following:

BB16- 901k
BB17- 1.09m

I think even though the hot weather is upon us, that tonight will be up on BB16.
Worth noting that this equivalent week of BB16 is when they hit panic mode and then at the end of the week, 4in4out happened.

I think had the ejection been tonight, would have been 1m+. A lot of talk of it last night.

Jodie.

Yep this was the start of BB16s awful week.

It had created a lot of discussion but with the weather so hot for the next 7 days I honestly don't see it hitting 1m at all this next week.

Some episodes even added over 650k..

The ones that got lower overnights usually add more. Last year's lowest overnight was 750k on a Saturday and it added 650k to get 1.4 million. I think the ones around 900k could get to 1.4m easily. We'll see soon!

Not too bad, not the lowest ever but not quite on par with the usual 1.6m

Li is getting ratings that BB should be getting. So after seeing BB beating Li for 3 days turns out Li has higher officials than BB on those 3 days they were losing. Li has been winning the ratings war from day 1?

Mon - 1.94m
Tue - 1.78m

And I think the first LI eviction rated higher than any BB eviction since Hazel's in BB14 :/

Compared to BB16 & 17 it's bang in the middle right now. The former averaged 1.4 and latter 1.6m. We're currently at 1.5m officially, but overnight it's the lowest ever, even lower than 16 - but it seems that's just because people are choosing to watch on record rather than live, unlike BB16 where people were just choosing not to watch at all

These ratings really calm me down a bit.

So basically this series is having the same core audience as every other series those last few years. Give or take 100k, 1,3-1,5 million is what civilian BB gets nowadays.

As for LI, I'm planning on catching up on it since i haven't seen anything of it and I really want to know if it's worth the praise.

You know what's weird? Last time they had a 'crisis' it took them less than a few days to hit the panic button and do 4 in 4 out. This time, the ratings and reaction is a LOT worse but they've not quite panicked yet. Everything seems to have been planned so far.
I don't know if I respect them for this, as it maybe shows they listened to how much we hated 4 in 4 out, or if they're just being stupid  but honestly they do really need to do something now

How does BB's ratings compare to other C5 shows?

They used to be far superior, but in the past year or so they've got a few shows (can't pay we'll take it away, the Yorkshire vet etc) which rate around 2 million. Last nights hedgehog show got 1.2 million at 8pm

It's worth noting that typically BB and CBB get consistent ratings every night over several weeks. A fair few C5 shows perform higher but these are either one off special shows, or short series.

Not to praise BB's ratings in any way however, it has lost its ways the past few series, but is a good puller for a consistent audience.

I think each C5 series has been reflected perfectly with their ratings. 14 being the best, followed by 17 and 13. And I'd put 16 bellow 15 like it is in the ratings too.

It is nowhere near as good as last year. It's all over the place. The cast are messy, can't even carry the series, and are mostly reality TV wannabes. There's no actual diversity or anyone I particularly like

The cast can't carry the series? The cast has done nothing less. They didn't have to interfere at all. Apart from the three celebs and they weren't even needed.

This series is great I hope officials continue to be great so it rates okish in the end.

So what will this week to the officials do we think? 1.2? 3?

It depends. The fact overnights have gone down from week one could either mean less people are watching overall, or more people are watching on demand. The first Saturday that got 700k added 600k so it could be a case of every episode now doing that, which would mean around 1.4-1.5 million
(I am being very optimistic lol)

the viewers have gone down and i suspect the on demand figure will have gone down a lot too.

The overnight average is 0.95 million. BB17 and BB18, so far, have averaged 550k in consolidated figures. That would take the official average to 1.5m. I definitely think it will be around 1.4

BB and definitely CBB almost always out rate Channel 4. There's some exceptions like Gogglebox and The Island, but that's about it, and they rarely air at the same time. CBB even rated higher than The Jump which is supposed to be one of their flagship shows these days

BB- 890,000
LI- 1.45m

Civilian BB can say bye to hitting a million again. I mean it could be worse, w could be C4 with Host The Week..... 460,000. CHUFFIN HELL.

LI killing it again, understandable. Great casting.

FYI one episode of LI consolidated to get 2.08m, highest ITV2 rating of the year. Highest rating of 2016 for ITV2 was 2.12 for Celeb Juice. That will be beaten by LI I'm guessing so LI is looking to be the highest rated show in at least 2 years.

At this rate, I really wouldn't rule out 1.8m+ for the final and around 2.4m officially. Is this series the BB3 of ITV2? Peak year?

To sum up, the highest EVER ITV2 rating was an episode of Celebrity Juice which got 3.12m in Oct 2011.

Well, lets take a look through C5 BB History. Here are all the launch official ratings + official final ratings of every series on 5. Please discuss.. why do you think certain series did so fantastically and why some didn't. Better quality? Less competition etc...So here we go.

CBB8:
Launch- 5.27m
Final- 3.23m

BB12:
Launch- 2.77m
Final- 2.20m

CBB9:
Launch- 3.60m
Final- 3.36m

BB13
Launch- 2.93m

CBB10
Launch- 2.96m

CBB11
Launch- 3.83m

BB14
Launch- 2.35m
Final- 1.96m

CBB12:
Launch- 3.18m
Final- 2.09m

CBB13:
Launch- 3.69m
Final- 3.71m

BB15:
Launch- 2.43m
Final- 1.73m

CBB14:
L- 2.61m
F- 2.39m

CBB15:
L- 3.65m
F- 3.04m

BB16:
L- 2.09m
F- 1.37m

CBB16-
L- 2.66m
F- 2.05m

CBB17:
L- 3.30m
F- 3.02m

BB17:
L- 1.86m
F- 1.79m

CBB18
L- 2.71m
F- 2.14m

CBB19:
L- 2.77m
F- 2.56m

BB18:
L- Launch- 1.57m

Apart from the monsterous CBB8 launch rating which was the first ever C5 BB broadcast, interesting to see the other ratings. For example, bar that launch, the highest ever rating on any BB on 5 was the CBB11 launch and then CBB13 final. And outside of launch/finales, the highest ever rating was Lee Ryan's eviction which got 3.63m.

Best retention... well CBB13 obviously as was the first series since BB7 which had a higher final. bb17 had a very good retention compared to all of them especially BB13, 15 and 16!

13 had a pretty awful retention.

I think the most impressive ratings here are the CBB13 Final which wasn't so lnog ago, the BB13 launch and the retention of BB17. I also love how the second launch night of BB14 outraged the first!

I am wondering, if this series picks up and has say a week or so post love island, could the final end up outrating the launch? That would be impressive. Although the overnights have been bad, they've been very consistent, and so have the official numbers.

An episode of BB18 has already out rated launch (the 4th day, the Thursday) got 1.59m, 20k higher.

It didn't really flop, it launched fairly low for a winter CBB but it held on very, very well.

I agree that CBB13 was C5 peak even though in general the CBB15 average was slightly higher. CBB13 increased throughout really whereas 15 decreased in the last 2 weeks. Last 2 weeks of CBB13 and first 2 weeks of CBB15 were the 4 most high rated weeks ever on C5.

Iirc, the last week of 15 flopped because they messed about with a fake Perez walkout and then had his eviction air 8-10pm or something and the special 8-9pm episode rated terribly, bringing the average down quite noticeably. You're right about CBB19 being very consistent though, one of the most consistent series we've had - but it was lower than a January series should be (thanks to Bear)

Jarrod, what are the love island officials?

Fantastic. These are the ones for the same week.

Monday - 2.03 Million
Tuesday - 2.27 Million
Wednesday - 2.32 Million
Thursday - 2.24 Million
Friday - 2.13 million
Saturday - 643k (The Hot List)
Sunday - 2.20 Million
Sunday - 753k (Aftersun)

Sad thing is, they're even better than summer CBB ratings.

Jamesy
26-06-2017, 12:43 PM
They need to do a BB14, 9pm show with 1 hour nightly live feed.

For this series its too little too late now, the series will continue to stay steady with the numbers we've seen the past few weeks. I wouldn't expect anything to draw in more/new viewers after the show has been on for weeks.

Believe it or not though, it's still beating BB16. Just. It won't last though because the ratings went up after the 4in 4out twist.

supertv247
26-06-2017, 01:47 PM
Yeah to be fair, timebomb only had 3 days below 1 million and then it got better after 4in4out - for this series still to be edging it after a full week sub 1 million is okay

So bad. Saying it's above BB16 is not s good thing. It won't be next week and by the end of the series it'll be Im guessing 300k down on it and half a million down on last year.

You can't even defend the officials sadly.

I don't think anything will save this series. They can try keep it stable, maybe build it a little and keep it at timebomb levels but other than that it's only going to get worse

Jason.
26-06-2017, 03:02 PM
Yeah they need to stop the desperate gimmicks to try and increase ratings. They're not going to work so I'd rather they left the series alone to play out naturally. The former is the reason why BB16 was turned to **** and bringing the VIPs in this series did nothing apart from ruin the entire second week.

Love Island literally have little idents with the cast members in it that they play between shows during the afternoon. Had last night happened on love Island they would of promoted the **** out of it, they really thought that a clip on their twitter and fbook was enough?

sampvt
26-06-2017, 03:24 PM
they killed it with the 2 bedrooms and the crap celebs. they orchestrated drama themselves and now its imploding. Shows like last night only appeal to the minority of blood thirsty viewers and those that just like to see violence. Sorry but id rather see fun and games and the odd feud being played out over time. We are being force fed drama and its pathetic. Plus the vte needs to be left in force and let us get idiots like lotan and hannah out before they infect the show.

love Island have the promotion nailed and it's so simple.

Just show snippets from tonight's upcoming episode during ad breaks....I suppose it's easier for them as its free advertising as they can show it on ITV during any show BUT remember when CBB11 had these promos on prime time ITV shows now they can't even be arsed to promote it on their own Channel. Heads need to roll for this piss poor attempt at promotion it's laughable.

What a childish attitude noones pissed off at love island getting better ratings we are simply stating its getting better ratings because it's production and marketing team have pulled out all the stops to get it the ratings and we feel let down by channel 5 for being so lazy with their recent advertising or lack of....ffs its 2017 we can like both shows. This is about ratings not petty which show is better arguments even Caroline Flacke said she hated the rivalry between the 2 shows.

26-06-2017, 09:45 PM
The promotion this year was abysmal.

Look at CBB13 and CBB15 - they pulled in an average of 3.1 million viewers and they were both heavily promoted. What other show on Channel 5 cracks 3 million a night? They really need to go all out when promoting the next CBB, especially the winter one which is the blockbuster of the franchise. I think the interest in regular BB just isn't there anymore but CBB could survive a long time if treated right.

Greg!
27-06-2017, 12:23 PM
I just read an article on DS from a couple of days ago about BB. It was moslty slating it and suggesting it should be axed, but there was an interesting quote from a Channel 5 spokesman "the series is now in the later slot of 10pm, as opposed to the traditional 9pm airtime, and the average ratings at this later time have increased by 25 per cent".
It sounds like spin and I doubt they're happy with the ratings but it could explain why they've not pulled any desperate stunts.

Surprising to see it higher than night before excl +1 that figure is only 30k under the previous episodes +1 so it does seem it beat Sunday unless it adds less than 40k on +1

This could add quite a lot with people tuning in to see the aftermath. I think that officials for Sunday will be the highest jump we've seen this series and could give the overall average a bit of a boost.

Love island - 1.7m

Worth noting that love island peaked at 2 million for the last 20 minutes, which overlapped with BB, yet BB averaged it's highest in over 2 weeks

I think because the fight was only made known a few hours before the show aired so it wasn't really enough time for people to be aware of it and tune in, as a result, whereas more people would've known about it by last night, so they tuned in to the aftermath.

Yes. In terms of overnights Daley's actual ejection clip was shown on the same day as the event and got 1.69m. The next day where the HMs find out he was removed got 1.77m.
