Boris has always been an odd one for me. I mean, I know hes Tory and a ****ing idiot, and a dickhead. Howevr, I cannot help but 'like' him. Was like that back when he was Mayor also. I know hes awful deep down, and that he acts the fool rather than is one..but the buffoon act seems to work on me regardless.

That’s how he gets away with all of the bigoted, hateful things he says and does, he acts like a buffoon to seem harmless and ‘goofy’ so when he does or says something awful the general response is ‘oh, well that’s Boris! Isn’t he clumsy?’

He’s a hateful, prejudiced man disguised as a Hugh Grant character

I think Boris will shock a lot of people and I have a feeling if he gets to be PM ,he will take things more seriously and make a good PM ,if he can get over the hurdles of the remainers blocking the democratic vote all the time, they don't want us to leave and will try everything to stop it, but a lot of people want out and that should be honoured.

But on Tuesday
he will be the new PM.

He must be better than Failed PM May.

I don't think he'll be worse than Theresa May but I doubt he'll be better.

There's no compassion from him.
I actually think there's a stronger chance now, he could even more damagingly split the Conservatives.

I have a feeling, from day one, there will be Conservative MPs working to get rid of him.
I wouldn't be surprised at more defections either.
Likely from Labour too but some Conservative MPs see a Johnson premiership as only the 2nd worst scenario for them and the UK.

The first a Corbyn led government obviously.

The other side is that Boris has one of the best records on gay rights of any Tories, he was actually defending the right of women to wear the burqa in his article (something that's banned in many EU countries) and he was twice elected as Mayor of the most ethnically diverse city in the world where most Londoners thought he did a good job of representing all of them

Everyone knows he has exercised very poor judgement in his language at times but there is more to Boris than a handful of offensive quotes most of which date back years

Below is the beginning of a NS article reminding everybody what Johnson said when Brown took over from Blair. Oh, the irony

Writing about the Labour prime minister Gordon Brown, who took over from Tony Blair without an election, Boris Johnson lays into Brown’s lack of “mandate from the British people”. He describes the “transition about as democratically proper as the transition from Claudius to Nero”, calling it a “scandal”, “fraud” and “nothing less than a palace coup”.

Here’s his intro:

“It’s the arrogance. It’s the contempt. That’s what gets me. It’s Gordon Brown’s apparent belief that he can just trample on the democratic will of the British people. It’s at moments like this that I think the political world has gone mad, and I am alone in detecting the gigantic fraud.”

surely by being poor they dont have money

what business model is this?

Oliver_W
23-07-2019, 12:59 PM
Yeah, lower taxes are beneficial for everyone. If the "Fat Cats" are making more money, they'll be able to hire more employees, give them better pay, and not charge huge prices for their goods or services.

Having more money in people's pockets is a good thing because it stimulates the economy - money being spent supports businesses, which gets further spent, and goes round and round. The money still goes to government eventually, through business rates, VAT, and the business owners paying taxes. It just does more good on the way than just falling into the hole of waste.

its called democracy, you are welcome to get elected and exact change and serve the public. You chose to write books for personal profit - dont lambast those that put their neck on the line for trying. If you dont like him you can vote for another numpty in the next election.

In what universe is 0.2% of the population voting for this in any way democracy? The public hasn’t had a say in our leader since Cameron. And look at the division and mess that has resulted since then.

I also don’t get the relevance of the BIB. She hasn’t swayed me, I happen to completely agree.

You do realise that its the "rich" that provide jobs for the poor

so you want to reduce employment prospects in the UK for the poorest families?

wowYeah, lower taxes are beneficial for everyone.

It just does more good on the way than just falling into the hole of waste.ALL the truth giving to the rich benefits the poor"Trickle down" economics DOES NOT WORK. Providing tax cuts to wealthy employers does NOT increase employment, or pay rates, or reduce prices.

This has been demonstrated *countless* times and is one of the most basic, thoroughly debunked myths of capitalist theory.

But its nice to see TiBB still derping along talking about it like the next big brainwave. Smfh.

About as many as the older people who voted to leave EU but are unironically looking forward to a parasitic relationship with the US? Boris Johnson could win landslide by uniting the Brexit vote

At this early stage, it's hard to say how Boris Johnson will perform among the
general public in a national election.

But polling shows that the new Prime Minister's pledge to leave the EU by
October 31 would attract disaffected Tory voters back from the Brexit Party
vote and give them a boost in the polls.

The ORB poll showed that if the UK left by the Halloween deadline,
Conservative members would flock back to the party, with 92 per cent
backing the Tories.

This repatriation of votes from the Brexit Party back into the Conservative
fold would give the Tories a boost in a national general election.

A recent YouGov poll showed that if a national election took place after Boris
Johnson had delivered Brexit, the Conservatives would win a general election
with 28 per cent of the vote. This is five percentage points higher than if Mr
Johnson led the Conservatives into an election before Brexit had been
delivered.

Who was the guy who paid you wages for years at the bookies, who gave you a job and paid for your family to live?

A faceless offshore corporation. There was no "guy". Also, although the wheels have fallen off now, between the time I started and finished there bookies profits were absolutely flying thanks to the boom in machines and online. That's how I know from direct experience (as well as very, very well established economic theory) that "more money in the fat cats pockets" does NOT lead to an increase in staffing, pay or conditions.

I'm not saying that companies don't need to exist or shouldn't exist :idc:. I'm saying that tax cuts for those people simply will not translate into more money in the pockets of the average citizen. It doesn't "trickle down". It sits there at the top in increasing volume. This is a simple fact... it's the reason that the world's 25 richest people have as much money combined as the poorest 3.5 billion. They don't ****ing spend it. On ANYTHING, let alone creating employment.
