They thought Sophie would get to know someone else but she said she's holding out for Connor and she begged Nas to pick her. It wouldn't have been fair if Nas was in that situation and felt pressured to pick Sophie over Demi because Sophie likes him as a friend and Demi is there to find love.

...to be fair to Jess, Mike is being quite persistent with his charming of her and I do think that she likes him, always felt a connection with him...so I think that she’s genuinely confused...hmmmm, although I’m not a Mike fan, I’m not sure that Luke’s feelings for Jess are any more genuine...it’s all going to be interesting when Casa Amour comes into play again...I don’t think our Jess deserves either of those two, I hope that someone else comes along and sweeps her off her feet...
