Sunderland is the obvious 20th place material this season LOL

and the title fight will be between Liverpool and Arsenal (no surprise)

biggest transfer flop will be Tijani Reijjnders of Man City :hehe:

Definitely

Unless Arsenal suddenly realise that they need a goalscorer then that would see them being a contender imho

I'm a big Sunderland fan myself so I do hope you're wrong but I think if we spend wisely and buy quality over quantity we have a decent chance of staying up, no doubt though the Gap is getting bigger every year and it's getting harder and harder for promoted clubs

Hopefully one of the three promoted teams will stay up this season.

I wish Sunderland good luck, as we're going through the same thing in the Championship.

Can’t see Brentford staying up

Losing their best players

Losing a great manager and replacing him a guy who has NEVER managed anyone

I think that there's a strong possibility that Brentford could go as well.

Maybe West Ham too.

Sunderland needs to have the same mindset as the likes of Sheffield United, Cardiff City

not try to think you can compete against the big teams in the PL, but try to have one or two standout players in some of the fixtures, so you can cash in on those when going back down, and reinvesting that cash into competing for promotion again, to remain competitive in terms of championship level

rather than Luton who gambled the wrong way, and are now struggling in League One

Breaking news

The Gunners are in advanced talks over a blockbuster move for Viktor Gyokeres and are said to have submitted an opening bid for Chelsea winger Noni Madueke. Arsenal may have received a boost over Rodrygo and are said to be considering a swap deal for Eberechi Eze, with Cristhian Mosquera also firmly on their radar.

Manchester City have extended their kit partnership with Puma for at least another 10 years, with the contract understood to be worth a minimum of £1bn, making it the largest deal in the Premier League.

City initially signed a £65m-a-year deal with the German kit manufacturer in 2019 but the parties have agreed an extension until at least 2035, worth a record £100m a year to the club.

That figure surpasses the £90m deal signed by rivals Manchester United with Adidas in 2023, while champions Liverpool will also be with the same manufacturer from this season after agreeing a reported, external £60m a season.

City have enjoyed an unprecedented period of success since 2019, claiming four Premier League titles as well as the Treble two years ago, but finished last season without a major trophy.

The two parties have achieved club record sales globally, according to City.

In their accounts up to 30 June 2024, City announced a Premier League record revenue of £715m, while commercial revenue increased from £341.4m to £344.7m.

City Football Group (CFG) chief executive Ferran Soriano said: "We joined forces with Puma with the ambition to challenge ourselves and go beyond the expectations. We have achieved this and more over the last six seasons.

"Puma have seamlessly integrated into our organisation, and we have enjoyed many historic moments together, engaging fans globally."

Puma chief executive Arthur Hoeld added: "Puma's partnership with Manchester City has been a great success both on and off the pitch.

"Trophies, a perfect stage for our performance products and commercial success were exceptional."

So true !!

Should be the most exciting season EVER !

Liverpool were epic last season with a new manager and no new signings … now 1/2 a billion pounds later who knows how good they could be .. how much will they miss TAA ??
Will the new players blend in well or will they take time ? Just imagine if/ when they get Isak !!!

City have to improve dramatically … but have bought loads of new , young , unproven players to try …

Arsenal came second for the third time and have had their best ever transfer window -if they get Eze from Palace then they have a chance

Chelsea have bought two great scoring attackers plus loads more potentially great players- still have a load of useless CBs and a calamitous goalkeeper !

Spurs are still looking to add new players plus they have a shiny new manager.

ManU have bought some excellent players plus they have a revitalised Mason Mount plus hopefully Mainoo will be fitter - also still adding to their squad

Doesn’t sound like a CF to me tbh

Last night 80% of his touches were down the left side with Gakpo more central

::::::
Copy and pasted …

During the first part of the season, he operated alongside Marmoush in a modern-looking strike partnership. It was not exactly a case of the big man and the little man. Instead, they both had freedom to roam into wide areas and shared the responsibilities.

That is because, despite being 6ft 3in tall, Ekitike is far from a traditional target man. "He is not a kind of a striker who will be always into the box waiting for a cross, he is very mobile and very difficult to mark." He likes to use his pace to run into the channels

Tbf, they are playing against an improved Tottenham team.

To quote Wayne Rooney when he helped relegate the sixth best Championship team before he managed us that season, Tottenham finished in a false position last season, they're a better team than 17th.

I think that Burnley has a shot at beating Leeds, Everton, Wolves, Sunderland, and West Ham on their day, and possibly Brentford.

Don't get me wrong I think that Burnley's Football will be ugly to watch, but I could see them squeezing out enough 1-0 victories to stay up this season.

yeah, there was an obvious difference in class last season, probably more than any other in recent history. However, WH are not in a good place. They narrowly avoided disaster last season and if teams are just a little bit better on a given day this season, they could get a result against the likes of WH. Winning the Club World Cup was great, but Chelsea have played a lot of competitive football over the summer, more so than any other PL side, and it showed today.

It wasn't awful, but not very good. Palace are solid side, they had a good gameplan and it worked.

We'll see how it goes in the next few games, a draw is not ideal, but not the end of the world. Only the first day.

Chelsea did struggle to find a decent rhythm in the game, Palace were very physical. Could say Palace were robbed of a goal, but Chelsea should have had a pen in the first half too, clear push in the back on Enzo, so that kinda balanced things out.

0-0 draw to the current FA cup holders, meh, not awful. No reason to panic, yet.

Yeah Chelsea just couldn't find that rhythm they had during the CWC and summer friendlies. And lets be fair, Palace with Eze are a top 6 side imo, we drew with a fairly decent side who were very physical, thus not allowing Chelsea to get into their groove. Fair enough.

It was definitely nice to see them being competitive with the second best team in the country currently.

Because last season I do think that Man Utd would've made a fair few howlers.

I do still think that you need to sort your goalkeeper situation out though.

Well he wasn’t really impeded that much .. after the game they showed the EXACT same thing happening to the Arsenal keeper who was just more assertive/ stronger and punched the ball away to safety …

It was odd really as Roy Keane said he should have been stronger at half time then the Arsenal keeper did exactly what he suggested about 20 minutes later

I bladdy hate VAR

Totally useless .. again

Pedro Porro was hacked down and hurt on the City penalty box line .. play continues the keeper comes out and knees the Spurs guy in the chest and then handballs the ball OUTSIDE the box !!

VAR says everything ok !!

In Spain they have a team of 4 specialists in the VAR room / monitors

In England we apparently have a working referee and another person ( a young woman today)

Wow

I predicted top 6 for Spurs but after the first two games and that performance against PSG I’m thinking top 3 , 4 or 5 !!

Great back four defence

Superb midfield three of Bentancur , Palhinha and Sarr

Up front Kudus is nailed on but the other two forward positions can easily be improved in the last week of the transfer window

The keeper is a good shot stopper but gives me the eegiebeegees when he has the ball at his feet

Shockingly so though I did say their defence looks shaky a while back - that’s why I am shocked they are letting Akanji go ..

They lose nearly every time Rico Lewis is in defence

He made so many ( typical for him ) mistakes today and made about 15 fouls today without getting booked !

Blimey Arsenal were arguably the best footballing team in the premier league last season even with Odegard not performing

Now Odegard has pressure on his position I expect him to have a brilliant season then add these three special players they could/should be untouchable !!

Eberechi Eze

Ethan Nwaneri

Max Dowman

I appreciate your optimism but I don't share it. Our squad is extremely poor really, very slow midfield and our defence is a liability

The defence in particular has been poor in both games.

Have you got any decent players in the defence that are currently injured?

Good day results-wise for two of my three favourite English teams . .. Spurs and Arsenal with Liverpool playing on Monday

Spurs were fantastic and will hopefully add two or three quality players before the deadline .

Arsenal weren’t looking too good UNTIL Odegard and then Saka were substituted !!

Madueke got lucky with Saka’s hamstring going so the new guy will be able to play in his preferred right wing position ..

Nwaneri looked far more effective than Odegard …

The two injuries leave space for Eze to make his debut against Liverpool

Wasn’t at all impressed with Gyökeres or Madueke but after a poor start Zubimendi started to look really at home

Arsenal were playing one of the easiest teams in the league yesterday. Noo conclusions can be drawn from that game other than they have injury prone players

Take it how you want .. I was brought up in an age when there were manly men and feminine women … sure there were some gays and lesbians even tomboy girls … and the occasional drag queen on telly ( there were two actually) but we didn’t have to endure this current mess / mashup of weirdness

We can't be having that.:fist::joker:

Being serious for a second, I do share Zizu's taste in wanting women to look aesthetically more feminine than masculine as a personal preference.

But I do support people in general (women, men, and Peter Griffin's side boob on Family Guy) to wear whatever makes them comfortable.

Because after all I would be being a hypocrite, because I know that a lot of women love for men to be in a Suit & Tie, which for me is my personal idea of hell.:joker:

So I would never want to try and make a woman in this case, feel guilty for not wanting to look more feminine or dress more feminine.

I'm hoping that I've worded this well, as I am terrible at explaining myself.
