I didn't know him, but Matthew does  He's a youtuber i think. Not sure what experience he has but he seems like a nice guy and is good.

…I thought he was going to be George Clarke from Amazing Spaces…..

…I don’t know who he is, does he have dance experience…?…

I don’t think so, he’s a YouTuber but I doubt he has dancing backgrounds

6 ? Seriously Shirley? The same as Jimmy???

Lewis was harshly attacked by Shirley imo.

Vanessa

Lewis was brilliant. Shirley is talking bollocks.

Jimmy was also undermarked by most judges apart from Anton tbh, since that is how you dance a real cha cha, the original cuban cha cha

Lewis was undermarked yes, and honestly his hip hop experience well it is completely different than latin or ballroom, like with hip hop everything needs to be robotic with the popping and locking, and in latin and ballroom you need more fluidity in each movement, and i was happy with what i saw from him last night, a good first ballroom routine

George, i kinda agree with Craig, the spanish lines looked poor, too straightened with his arm shaping, while you need to bend your hands into that matador pose, and i also thought it was a bit too much stomping around, a DWTS style paso rather than one with that authentic spanish vibe

i like Ross, i like his mentality of wanting to improve even if he isn't the strongest dancer, and that waltz was cute

i like Ellie, her waltz was beautiful, but having said that, this might've just been her dance, and i worry for her in some of the more technically difficult routines

Alex wasn't overmarked, she and JoJo made it look so easy while in fact it really isn't easy

Stefan undermarked if you ask me, i thought i saw some decent cuban breaks, and he was in sync with Dianne throughout the routine, i liked that one move on the floor especially, that a 66 yr old can do that :o and he looked good with that wig

La Voix undermarked, i liked that mind**** with us thinking at first it being a tango, but in the end it being a jive :flutter:

Thomas  no words, other than Strictly's very own Master P :laugh3: :laugh3: :laugh3: no basic salsa content whatsoever in there lol

Watching it again this morning.
Just the dances.
How much better it is when you switch off the judges chatter.

Amber and Lewis again the best for me.

However it's clear how hard the vast majority are trying to improve.

Honestly though, Thomas, that was probably the worst ever performance possibly on a series.
It's not all his fault, he simply cannot dance.

Ammi

La Voix was good, though I preferred last weeks routine of hers

..I just watched La Voix’s routine from yesterday…she’s a good dancer for sure and she’s also such a show gal, which I love to see so much personality and fun put into a dance in such a natural way……marvellous…

Ross also is a weak dancer, but at least he has a better mentality, and his partnership with Jowita is so lovely :flutter:

also lovely what Craig told him to just remain who he is in this competition, despite the bad criticism

but the criticism towards Stefan was uncalled for honestly, the man was doing the best he could with a dance he was dreading to do, and it is not like the cha cha cha is an easy dance, i mean with that weird way of moving with the straightened leg actions, and am i worried, no, i trust in the public, we ain't dance experts, and Stefan's routine was entertaining

Neville has learned nothing from Lineker. Stick to football.

Nicky91
06-10-2025, 06:33 AM
am happy Ross is through, and a paso doble to thunderbirds next week, omg yass :clap1: classic and never been used before either on here

Amber doing Sound of Music, and i kinda hope it is to My Favourite Things (what Ross said last night)

La Voix doing Mary Poppins, but not as Mary but as The Crazy Bird Lady

my thoughts on the dance off last night

TS no improvement whatsoever (those judges were lying to sweet talk him before he was likely to throw a tantrum or anything) and Chris & Nadiya had improvements compared to first time around, Chris definitely listened to judges feedback in terms of standing taller with his posture and letting Nadiya dance to his height

but yeah i'm positively surprised by the public votes, i was really scared for Ross, that i thought Tom would get the public on his side, the right wingers at least, but thankfully justice prevailed, and we get another week of Ross and Jowita's beautiful partnership, he really couldn't have gotten anyone better

Jimmy's reaction to Claudia's question regarding his youngest daughter too young to be in the studio ''she treats me like a king when i get home'' :flutter:

Nicky91
06-10-2025, 06:37 AM
i'm curious if they also make usage of the strings for Thunderbirds in the choreography

also that opening tune is such a banger! i hope they include 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 countdown which is the most epic bit

technique wise my expectations are at zero but i just hope i see some decent efforts

I don't know much about him as a commentator (West Ham fan, obviously I'm really clueless about football or I'd choose a team that didn't break my heart week after week), but I do know he was happy to pull on an England shirt more than a thousand times and take everything that that brings... not so happy to fly the flag.

My absolute favourite thing about Gary Neville is the knowledge that his father was called Neville Neville. A family of vast imagination it seems...

Being fans like us at least teaches us to face crushing disappointment in in other areas of our lives. It's character building.

I watched a thing about Neville yesterday. The camera went along the line and all the lads were singing the national anthem, not him though, he stood with his head down, time after time. Happy to pull on the shirt and accept all the riches playing for his national team brings, but not willing to sing the anthem or even raise his head. He's a disgrace.

Are you seriously criticising Gary Neville ?

He has many detractors due to his ManU link and his growing voice in political matters plus his penchant for owning and leasing hundreds of properties but he’s generally accepted as one of if not the best football pundit around ..

He’s the best we’ve had since Andy Gray ffs

Only Roy Keane and possibly Jamie Carragher come close

I thought you knew your football LOL

Gary Neville is a hypocrite, and blows everything that happens out of proportion to what they really were.

Plus his knowledge on the "lesser" teams isn't always up to snuff.

i mean Jimmy also has the same beard as Idris, and its Lauren's first ever Rumba!!!!!

No Time to Die is a fantastic song, seen it in the german version used for a waltz, by Rene Casselly his week 1 routine :) so can't wait for this song with a rumba

Lewis was obviously the best of the night but I still find him a bizarre mix of boring and a "show-off" lol

Jimmy was fantastic, and also enjoyed Karen, La Voix, Amber and Balvinder.

Thought Alex was a bit stiff... and George's routine was awful, especially for a CC. My bottom 2 of the night would be Ross and Chris though, need to get rid of both so the real competition can begin.

…I was able to watch some of this yesterday…crikey I’m hooked already…I actually didn’t get to see Lewis’ dance, though…I was thinking that Jimmy might be the ‘dark horse’, I loved his dance yesterday…..and La Voix also was gorgeous, she’s not a Queen that I’m familiar with from her season but she’s a comedy Queen…?…her waltz not really her comfort zone but such a beautiful waltz to watch……and especially challenging for someone who has never worn a wig before ever…and that extra challenge of worrying it’ll stay in its place through the dance, she met that challenge beautifully…:flutter:…

my Movie Week thoughts and scores

Amber & Nikita: very much enjoyed this, super stunning lifts and tricks, i did notice some lip sync but i forgive her just because it's movie week and all in all brilliant footwork 9

Chris & Nadiya: much much better than the last two weeks, that was a decent paso for a novice good fun 6

George & Alexis: underscored if you ask me, all in all it was very uplifting, okay technique wise, quite a lot of times out of sync while in hip hop you should always be in sync but entertaining performance 8

La Voix & Aljaz: a nice danced waltz, but at the end of the day a waltz remains a waltz, nothing more you can do with that 7

Ross & Jowita: OMG YASSSSSSSS Timeless ICONIC one for the history books, technically maybe not perfect, but from that hopeless duffer in week 1 to actually trying to dance, RESPECT 6

Balvinder & Julian: so many flaws this routine had, way too little focus on the in hold dancing and what was there in hold was just bad, and the out of hold content i also saw some problems with the footwork, no not her finest hour 5

Karen & Carlos: not many straightened legs whatsoever what a cha cha requires, indeed craig, her free arm also looked awkward rather than positioning it properly, this was bad 4

Jimmy & Lauren: the dance of death for a male celebrity, well not today, that was full of drama, i actually am looking forward to when he gets to do the tango and argentine tango now, so much passion and chemistry in this rumba, YASSSS GET IN 9

Vicky & Kai: no swivels whatsoever, however most hilarious thing was Kai doing DiCaprio's famous glass raising moment in the opening of the routine, apart from no swivels that was otherwise a decent slapstick variant of a charleston, not bad but not great either 6

Ellie & Vito: that samba bounce! those volta's! those botafogo's! that tribal bit near the end of the routine, great routine 8

Alex & Johannes: Alex was perfectly divine as Meryl! dance wise, she makes it seem so effortless, so easy to watch, wow 9

Harry & Karen: idk about anyone else, but for me, this is one of my favourite Salsa's on Strictly EVER! thankfully not an overload of lifts, but also plenty of salsa dance content, those african tribal moves especially fitted so well with the salsa, main technique is rhythm, fluidity throughout the hips and dancing it into the ground, while in cha cha you need straightened legs and in samba you need bend knees, anyway that was gorgeous 9

Lewis & Katya: speechless, i literally was speechless 10!

Lewis with dance experience

or

Ross, Chris as beginners

with the same dance this week

i thought Ross's shapings were excellent somehow, i saw clear spanish lines, or at least a good effort at that

better than Chris's, although Chris's was danced more but lacked spanish lines

Barry.

I don't believe that she will.

Lewis is the bigger threat out of the two ringers imo.

Lewis is another one I hope doesn’t win. It should be someone who had no experience at all

I thought that Jimmy did well too.

Especially as Rumba's can be really tricky early on in the series.

Harry doing a rumba to It Must Have Been Love by Roxette

George doing a tango to Viva La Vida by Coldplay

She's sort of a jack-of-all-trades really... she was already an established name before auditioning and is able to sing, do stand-up, act, and - apparently - dance. Her drag is definitely of the "old school" variety and I think - had 3 of the previous 4 winners of the show already not been "camp, old-school UK drag" queens she would have deservedly won. I don't mind Kyran Thrax but she was outshone by La Voix basically all season.

I think Ru and Michelle try to hold the UK drag scene at an arm's length after their displeasure at comments made about them / the show by Paul O'Grady... so while the best UK drag queens are that Lily Savage archetype, the judges seem to be trying to shift the tides and turn us into dull USA clones

See: the current season (7)... the average age is far lower, and the show is suffering as a result. Nary a personality among the bunch :skull:

…oh I must read what Paul O’Grady/Lily said…I have to say that I did have a bit of a bad taste with Ru…(…I can’t recall the season…)…but it was when he criticised Jo Black, was that the Queen…?…well he didn’t criticise, he tore her down really and it wasn’t great to watch at all…the UK is just much, much smaller so that’ll reflect in that industry and also reflect in wardrobe budgets, I imagine…anyway, I did feel generally that it was becoming quite ‘style over substance’…and the styling is something that I love, obviously…but the talent and versatility as you say with La Voix, is such a part of Queens crossing over more into things like Strictly and such a shining part a winning Queen…

my thoughts week 4

Karen & Carlos: her personal best dance i think, i mean i always doubted her for having a weak core frame, but all in all her quickstep looked good 8

Harry & Karen: SEXY SEXY SEXY! nothing less than Colin's rumba for sure 9

Vicky & Kai: am amazed how great the geordie queen really is, continues to surprise me week by week 9

Stefan & Dianne: i agree with Anton, for me the charlestons also don't always need to be too over the top, i actually also prefer slapstick comedy ones, it very much still looked like a charleston anyway, and that personality, WOW 8

Lewis & Katya: not bad but i get what Anton was saying, i see Lewis has a habit of trying to do too much in a routine, same problem Aston had in his series kinda, but yes finalist potential is very much there 8

Jimmy & Lauren: it wasn't out of sync Shirley not even once? and Soca dancing is different to something like hip hop, Soca is more grounded, with emotions, also the location names on that pole, Alkmaar, Zaandam, Stamford Bridge, everything what he has a connection with, loved the routine 9

George & Alexis: am gobsmacked the judges didn't mention this, but i didn't a heel lead at all here, and in tango you dance with heel leads all the time, his core frame was mediocre at best, also a lack of chemistry honestly 4

La Voix & Aljaz: good on Shirley, ZERO Cha Cha content, and the blame here is on Aljaz, a boxing theme with a cha cha cha  is almost as disastrous as the michael jackson choreo for viennese waltz by Janette for Aston LOL 1

Balvinder & Julian: told you so Bal would come back with a bang from the dance off last week, this was FIRE 9

Alex & Johannes: so much hard work going into this week by week by these two, and it looks so effortless, i am in awe by these two loveys 10

Chris & Nadiya: it looked better than what i was expecting it to be, very nice footwork placements, so to say there isn't salsa content in this is a lie, okay could've been more fluid from one movement to another, but it was decent 6

Amber & Nikita: a argentine tango is a responsive dance yes, and there was no such thing of that seen in their effort, as a regular tango it also wasn't that good, nah, best forgotten this one 3

Ellie & Vito: showstopper very iconic, fabulous, so ellie, yass 10

Ammi

it's weird, I have plenty of dancers I like but the whole thing just feels a bit boring this year...

..tbh, this is the first season that I’ve properly watched it for many years…/…I don’t know if I’ll keep up with it…I think that my big thing with it atm is that it spreads over such a huge part of a Saturday evening, which for me is quite often movie time……but I’ll see how it goes, the judges comments seem to be just repeat and repeat so I wish that I could skip over those to make it shorter…

Nicky91

maybe Aljaz needs to be benched next year, if he's gonna start making questionable choreography choices :idc:

post week 4

i can see Jimmy as a possible finalist, i can see Alex as a possible finalist

Lewis and Amber (with their dance experience) are the obvious frontrunners but honestly could easily see them facing each other in a dance off in the later stage of the competition after Blackpool i think, and if Lewis is knocked out in a dance off, we can really call it the Curse of Aston :fan:

Ellie idk how long she'll last, but anyway she had her couples choice now, maybe a nice blackpool exit

Nicky91

for the 2026 series

i think Dani Dyer is a shoe-in to get Jamie Laing'd

and for the christmas special this year, i wouldn't be surprised if they try to approach Kristian Nairn/Hodor for that, considering that is just a one off show

and i can see them trying to book another game of thrones alumni for the regular series next year, i can totally see Jerome Flynn on the show somehow (Bronn of Blackwater) since he also is famous as a musician, from the duo Robson & Jerome ;)

and as dead as the australian version is at this moment, i can see strictly becoming more appealing to way more australian celebs, and someone like Manu Bennett is another one who has his audience appeal in the UK, fans of the hobbit, arrowverse might recognize him, we haven't had a star from the hobbit either on the show

am curious what song Lewis has then for quickstep, only fast song i know is Ring of Fire

Nicky91

also i feel JoJo has very strong chances of his first win this year, if only he can bring some of Alex's confidence into the ballrooms as well

but Alex is quite a Latin Queen honestly, how easy her samba and now her rumba looked

and all credit goes to JoJo for doing the right things with her, as well as clever choreographies

popularity wise i reckon she might be a decent match up against George (tbh i really hope George won't win but fanbase i still have to see how popular George really is, when he is more near the bottom of leaderboard, considering Joe Sugg was also a claimed winner with his millions of followers, or Daniel O'Donnell's so called millions of fans :fan:)

George just bores me, and Alexis i hope is let go back to the US next year, she adds nothing with her DWTS choreo's

Nicky91
21-10-2025, 07:25 AM
so a what if scenario

reinstate Chris and Nadiya, they are likely due a ballroom, after two latins back to back (Paso Doble and Salsa)

also not like he was eliminated chancelessly on unanimous judge votes, no, basically because of Craig's deciding vote on a 2-2 (and plenty of viewers still think he should be there anyway)

BBC can just learn a thing or two from RTL, i very much prefer Lets Dance over Strictly these days, in terms of much more competitive of the two versions, also Lets Dance is more about dancing than Strictly (where its more about entertainment these days it seems)

RTL haven't had a ''sympathy vote'' winner yet, we did have plenty of contestants with disabilities on the show, but those also don't want sympathy votes
