I thought it was time for the new thread for the upcoming series, seeing as series eight is only, really, only around the corner.

This year BB is getting a revamp. Gretel is gone, and Kyal & Jackie O have been shipped in to take over. After they made a massive mistake last year - Uncut is back for 2008.

The online auditions are now over, and the hopefuls have been notified.

Definitely a good idea cutting the length if they want it to work.

Arcticle about the next stage of auditions on BBBA.

Rumours of a late march starts look true from this



Behind Big Brother has learnt that the next stage of auditions are ready to begin, with potential housemates receiving e-mails asking them to attend group auditions in their capital city.

The e-mail congratulates auditionees for making it through to the next round, and asks them to make their way to a specific venue at 7:30am. Auditionees must RSVP to an generic e-mail address to confirm their attendance.

The e-mail then goes into more detail about the audition process, and confirms earlier rumours about the starting date for this year’s Big Brother season.

* You will need to make yourself available for the entire day.

* You must arrive and attend alone.

* No cameras or sound recording is permitted.

* You will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement on the day.

* You will also be required to sign a release form consenting to being filmed during the auditions, as well as a Criminal History Check application form.

* No dress requirements – come as you are, but be aware that the audition day will involve some physical activity.

* You MUST BRING THE ORIGINAL AND A recognisable photocopy of EITHER your driver’s licence or passport.

* It is your own responsibility to make your way to and from the audition. It is also your responsibility to cover all costs involved in attending the audition.

* A light lunch, tea and coffee will be available on the day.

* If you are eventually selected to be a Big Brother housemate, you must be available from late March to mid August 2008.

As always, confidentiality is a must with auditions and the e-mail states this clearly:

FRIENDLY REMINDER:

* Do not speak to the other applicants before or after the auditions. Do not attempt to contact any other applicant at any time after the auditions. Anyone found swapping phone numbers will automatically be disqualified.

* All applicants must understand that from this moment on you may not discuss any details regarding your participation in the Housemate selection process with anyone - work colleagues, friends and family or press. There are no exceptions unless expressly permitted in writing by the producers. (whoops!)

* This includes all previous involvement and future participation.

* Any applicant found to be in breach of these rules will be instantly disqualified from either entering or staying in the House.

* You should also immediately alert the producers if anyone approaches you regarding your participation in Big Brother.

They are radio double act Kyle and Jackie O. They present a popular morning radio show on 2FM. Kyle is also a judge on Australian Idol and he brifley entered the house last year to judge the housemates music video task.

Not really, but it's most likely to be due to the writer's strike.

I hope they made huge efforts this year cause if it flops then it's the end of the end for BBAU.

New BB eye revealed?

With just over 2 months until BB08 begins, once again BBBA is set to be your source for pre-season news and inside info. Long-time forumer realityJunkie has discovered what looks like a prototype of a new official BB site design. As well as being a completely-freshened look for the OS, the big news is that it contains a brand-new Big Brother eye logo.

Traditionally the show has updated its logo every couple of years, though we have been seen the same ‘cube’ logo for the past three seasons. If it’s legit, this new eye looks grittier and, arguably, more grown-up. In fact, one could argue it bears some resemblance to the current BBBA banner! For the first time since the series began, the text uses a completely new font.

Anything can be better than Gretel, I'm glad she's gone, BB Australia needed that. Those 2 hosts seem crazy, maybe too much but well.
Anyway, everything will change, new house, new rules, new housemates etc... It has to work because I love BB aus so much.

I hope its true, it certainly looks it. I have to see I LOVE that new logo, if theres one other Big Brother I follow aswell as Big Brother UK, its got to be BB Australia - there house seems much bigger and it seems they could do something really nice with it, and according to some people this year its a whole new house.. last year they just repainted and moved a couple of walls. The new website looks a lot brighter and cleaner aswell.

Big Brother has recruited another breakfast radio duo to front it’s new 9.30pm show - an Australian version of Big Brother’s Big Mouth.

Tony Squires and Rebecca Wilson, hosts of the breakfast show on Vega953, will host the “weeknight” panel show according to The Daily Telegraph.

Big Brother’s Big Mouth has accompanied the UK version of Big Brother since 2005, offering fans and guests the chance to share their views on the people and events in the house, and has helped make it’s original host Russell Brand one of the biggest names in British television.

The appointment of Tony and Rebecca as hosts suggests it will be a more mature show than some Big Brother spin-offs of the past. Tony has been a journalist for 20 years and had a weekly television column, as well as creating Inside the Arena - a live Foxtel show talking about television. Rebecca’s background is mainly in reporting sport before joining forces with Tony on The Fat and 110% Tony Squires - and going on to co-host first the drive-time show, and now the breakfast show, on Vega953, alongside Tony.

Harrop at the amusement park website Parkz has posted aerial shots of the Big Brother compound taken last week.

The photos (below) show significant new construction around the backyard area, including what looks like a smaller separate backyard with it’s own pool. Could this be a Head of Household / FNL winner area or secret second house?

Inside the house we hear from production leaks the toilet will have a removable wall revealing a passageway leading to a hidden room or possibly the diary room. The toilet wall will be used to issue housemates with secret missions, rather than an obvious announcement for a housemate to go to the diary room.

Looks like the animal enclosures still there and also looks like they're altering the garden shape judging from the bare plywood walls at the side. I tlooks much more square.

BB05 was the best overall I think. Full of fun, twists, great mix of characters (Vesna, Christie) and great drama.

Yeah the last 2 series were both disasters for the producers: bad ratings, too much controversy and boring housemates.
If BB08 is not better than BB06 and BB07 then BB Australia is dead.

Tried with old torrent that didn't work before because of WMP and it still wouldn't work. So unless someone uploads it to YouTube or DailyMotion it looks like I'm monumentally scr*wed!

It would be so great if she was... but I doubt it. I think BB08 is going to be a series of great change. Seen as they already brought a former BBUK housemate over a few times.. I cant see them repeating it. Maybe this year, there might be a full on swap though!

Well, you are entitled to your opinion. But Cameron, Anthony, Pete and Brian (8) were in my view crappy winners. Brian BB8 had a huge following of teen girls who thought he was cute. Also, he didn't have THAT much competition.

Are you trying to convert .torrent files? Those aren't video files - .torrent files are simply a way to download other files.

So how do I play them? I recently switched PCs so I'm still finding it hard to discover things again.

Yeah to get the video you have to download it on either a Bittorrent client...seems logical lol

I think I might know your problem now - provided you have downloaded the files properly. Try downloading the DivX codec. Head on over to http://www.divx.com to get it - that should fix your problem.

If you're trying to play .torrent files and not .avi files, it won't work - get a bittorrent client, like BitTorrent or UTorrent, and open your torrent in them to download the files.

If it's neither of those then I'm out of ideas...

If it STILL isn't working then the only logical explanation I can think of is that you are playing torrents and not video files.

If this is the case, download BitTorrent or uTorrent, and open the torrents in there to download the video files.

The torrent is downloading the video file to your computer. When it is finished downloading it will have saved a video file somewhere on your computer - THIS is the file that you open in Windows Media Player.

This is what you should do with all .torrent files.

Here are new confirmed facts about BB08:

-Up Late is gone, Uncut is gone and the farmyard is gone.

* Grocery shopping is gone. We’re not sure if this means just the BB shop is gone or the entire concept of HMs choosing their own food is out, but even this little thing is a big change.
* The punishment room is gone. After being one of the HMs’ favourite pastimes two years ago and barely seeing any use last year, it’s now completely out.
* There will be no fines & fewer rules. Does this mean BB will also interrupt less during nominations?
* Tasks will be simpler. Some of them were pretty simple anyway, but I suppose this is a good thing?

I agree with you :spin2: I'm not sure about many Aussie AD's though. Is I've barley saw any. Just the 'We wouldn't lie to you. Would we?' ones and this years.

The music is good and really fits the theme, they're funny, not any graphics this year, but the witty 'I don't think so' teaser subsitutes and the second ad set looks soooooooooooooo cool! :hugesmile:

The second ad doesn't excite me as much as the first ad. It's a good ad - but just not as good as the first imo.

I agree that C4 need to refresh the BBUK ad campaigns - but I don't think eye flashes, house ads etc. should be completely dropped.

Personally I have to disagree. I've been seeing these ad's for 4 years now. Its all the same. Glossy, shiny graphics, remixed theme music. I think they should just have BB:CH or Aussie style ads this year. I'd love that! :hugesmile:

And those glossy, shiny graphics and remixed theme tunes didn't seem to bother us when the series were good enough.

What I'm saying is, the UK doesn't need to completely get rid of these ads - they just need something else to go with them. The BB5 ad campaign is a good example of this - it had the "Big Brother Gets Evil" tagline and Black Friday adverts were used as well as the usual house ads, eye flashes etc.

BBAU changes it every year, and sometimes they dont live up to the expectations (e.g the "Truth or Lie" campaign and last years "Big Brother promises").

Never the less, I love the new advert and it has to be one of the best BBAU ad's ever.

That's another good point. Our adverts create enough of a buzz around the show without making any promises that Big Brother doesn't live up to... :whistle:

Of course I never said the contrary, the last 2 series failed to impress the public and it was even worse knowing they made 'promises' (world firsts ...).
But the ads are still brilliant and always creative. I'm still worried about the 'seen it all before ?' line in the ad: I hope it's true.

Exactly it's more of a tradition now in the UK. But it's kinda always the same thing, of course they don't make promises but at least the aussie ads bring more creativity imo.
