Coffee has lots more caffeine than tea. I think tea is more of a comforting habit than addiction.

Tea still has plenty of caffine in it. But not as much as coffee.
I like to drink normal tea in the morning and green tea in the evening! Green tea does not have caffine so it won't keep me awake! |

I'm abit addicted to Coffee, It makes me sick alot now that I drink it that much but It feels weird when I don't drink Coffee.
The weird thing is, I find Tea nicer now? But still go for Coffee.

Yes you can become addicted to tea, it doesnt have as much caffeine as coffee per serving and its absorption into the body is slower, so it doesnt give you the same hit.
However addiction to tea is no less real than addiction to coffee both in physical and psychological addiction terms. |

Tea keeps you awake for longer. Coffee wakes up up the first 10 minutes but then you feel really tired afterwards.

No. 'Yes' if you want to be pedantic but no. Not in real world terms. You wont 'crave' a hit of the aul tea in the addiction sense. You're not going to suck cock for a mug of tea. It's a comfort, as Zippy said. A comfort anyone would easily, easily get over if forced to.
I don't even think it qualifies as a 'mental' addiction. |

Coffee has alot more caffeine in it, Tea barley has any. Caffeine keeps you awake. That's why in Horror movies and stuff like A Nightmare On Elm Street, It'd be a shock if you didn't see at least 3 cast members drinking tons of coffee to keep them awake. I mean you honestly wouldn't see one of Freddy Krueger's victims with a box of PG Tips beside their bed.

Are you really using A Nightmare On Elm Street as a citation point for the science behind caffeine? Last edited by Stu; 16-01-2011 at 12:16 AM. |

Although the physical effects of withdrawal are a lot milder than withdrawal from certain addictive substances, they can and will occur if you remove caffeine intake totally from the diet. Withdrawal symptoms including headache, irritability, an inability to concentrate, drowsiness, insomnia and pain in the stomach, upper body, and joints may appear within 12 to 24 hours after discontinuation of caffeine intake, peak at roughly 48 hours, and usually last from one to five days, representing the time required for the number of adenosine receptors in the brain to revert to "normal" levels, uninfluenced by caffeine consumption. |

If you drank alot of that, without sugar, would it fail to keep you awake aswell? Yeah I was, But now I'm abit pissed I have and I'm actually starting to disbelieve everything I learnt from those films. I'm going to question every scene the next time I watch it now.

I doubt going cold turkey without tea would trigger uncontrollable sweating and panic attacks.

Interesting to note the body can also absorb caffeine through the skin, some shampoo manufacturers now use it as an additive, as it is believed to reverse some of the causes of certain types of alopecia, as well as reduce the effect of testosterone in male pattern baldness. So when you really crave a cup of tea or coffee, go wash your hair ![]() |
