Default Excited for BB12, but also worried....

Don't get me wrong, I'm dying with anticipation of BB12.

But it's hitting me now that it's going to be drasticly different from the Big Brother we were used to.

New host.
New production team.
New channel.

It's definitely not going to be the same. And I think when the show goes on air alot of people will complain that they miss how the old BB was, or how certain aspects of the old BB were better, etc. But we just have to accept and prepare for the fact that is probably IS going to be much different.

With this new productin team and everything, things could either go fantastic and they could make the show fresher, newer, and bring more life into it. Or, it could all go horribly wrong and be a mess.

In terms of behind the scenes people and people working on the show, does anyone know what IS remaining the same for sure? The only thing I know of is Marcus Bentley (thank god).

I'm looking forward to BB12. I can't wait to see what a fresh production team will do with the show.

Same feelings. Im glad its coming back but scared it will ruin it and to think almost nothing will be the same except marcus and the eye. Think even the small things like: font and music will contribute. And also the live shows will be so different like no 'Big brother house this is ect'.

To be honest I just want the channel 4 one back like it was in 2004-6.

(p.s. nice avatar i loved charley in bb8.)

It probably will be pretty dire, but i'd still tune in to the opening show and see what it's like before making any early judgements.

I'm glad it's being given an overhaul I've been calling for one since 2007. BB in it's current form had reached it's natural end, continuing it in the same form, plastering over the cracks, would mean the lifeline the show's been given would have little or no chance of lasting longer than 2 or 3 years.

Yep, I agree, BB10 would also have been awful if they hadn't been lucky enough to get such entertaining HMs to carry it for them.

Although picking the housemates is their work aswell, so BB10's a hard one to make a dicision on.

yeah but I reckon it's mostly luck when it comes to the HMs, I mean most of them definitely act completely different in their audition tapes so I think it's luck of the draw really

Im not really worried about format changes etc, more about it been on channel 5.

Im expecting it to be really low budget and tacky.

I think it needs a savage re-boot if the series hopes to last for more than a season. If its the same old thing, the public won't bother watching, if its new and different, it may be able to pick up some new viewers.

Although, I don't want a different theme tune, different narrator (Marcus needs to stay) and I want the eyes to be done in a similar fashion to how they've been done on C4. Everything else however, can be altered.

People need to realise BB the way it was caused people to switch off. BB needs, as Niall said, a savage revamp, or there no point bringing it back. It needs to be seen with fresh eyes, and a new team can do that (I hope).

Considering that the prize money has been upped to Ł500,000, I think there will be more of a competitive game play.

I agree apart from I would say it was more of a man-made ending than a natural end. The previous producers didn't try hard enough to liven it up or change enough with too many recycled ideas and not enough strength when they should have shown it. Once they realised they were going to kill it off then they just wound it down and put little or no effort into trying to develop the show.

The show was dying. It needed a change.

It's just a matter of whether the changes are for the good. Having a network fully behind the show is a good start.

I've been away from BB for a while and came back rather surprised they are pushing to do this again so soon.

Since you all must have been wondering what I think then I can tell you now:

- It was almost mandatory this skipped at least one Summer entirely, if not two.

- This ought not be 'BB12'. No way. This should have returned renamed from the get-go and for example: Big Brother Redux: Season One.
Very disappointed they are even letting it be regarded as '12th' as if part of the same 'series'.

- I'm just catching up but someone is telling me they are still doing this at the old building?
Another huge disappointment. A 'BB Re-experiment' was in order and ideally in a completely different location, probably an actual mansion and the technology exists to pull that off now.

- People are discussing 'who will replace Davina' and again that shouldn't even be a discussion nor should there even be a 'Presenter' let alone a 'Davina spot' or 'Davina Replacement'.
EVEN IF there is a 'Presenter' format here then its something else. Not 'Davina's replacement' or 'The Davina Spot' etc.

- I do have a massive conflict on this next one. I'm told the great Marcus Bentley is back. He is THE VOICE. It could never be BB,
however,
IF it were let alone for a while and 'Rebooted' entirely new as Channel 5's 'next generation' in a new location with a totally new spin?
Yes, then Marcus is our 'connection' to that past series.
However,
because this is appearing to be nothing more than Channel 5's version of C4s Big Brother then Marcus is really just continuing this and actually it almost seems sad in some way he is still there.

- BB Eye. This could be another thing that returns (not 'stays') but returns to a reboot but in some different use and concept but not again as it were just another season.

Anyways.
You see my entire complaint is that rather than showing this (or returning) respect and giving this a proper restart I'm getting the feeling its going to be nothing more than C5's 'lesser cheaper' low-budget version of C4's too expensive series.

Anything good to say?
Yeah, I'm going to hold out hope that this actually will be time for something completely different. That I will see something that looks and feels very different, might even be more 'purist' and more for the older generation (the fans who are no longer 17 years old and now want something more serious).
That original idea which was actually quite a serious social experiment.

I'm repeating this I know but I've asked people to view 'How Mad are You' (I think it was Horizon?) but THAT is what the modern updated 'BB Reboot' should aim for.

I just know I do NOT want to see "Oh.. C5 is doing a cheap 'knock-off' version to squeeze the last few pennies out" and watch the cheap 'jump the shark' last season of a dying sitcom milking a contract and bringing in a baby family member.

Anyways, I am psyched for as much different as possible. in a good way. BB9 was simply amazing and as fantastic as it can get and where it ought to have ended. I will give credit for C4 really did try and pull it together for one last hurrah at the end (great casting at least) and UBB was truly amazing fun,
but,
I would love to see 5 really do this their own way. Don't try and be BB12 but try and be BBRedux 1
Don't try and fail to copy Davina. do your OWN 'first presenter'. Don't try and out-do what C4 did but start your OWN new unique angle, spin, views, looks and feels that are yours!

/rambling on pills thx

I think it will be really good, it needs the fresh presenters and look too, it cannot possibly be as bad as the last few, where the ideas were running out and the production team happy to just let it muddle through the last 2 series.

Im excited for a new BB, yeah it might go horribly wrong, or it can be the new, fresh start the show needed.
